Do dreams have meaning or interpretation?

10 posts in this topic

My grandmother used to do dream interpretation to me when I was a kid . I always thought dreams have no meaning. Like for example if you see a snake in your dreams ..does that mean something different than if you see a cat ?

Been thinking about some of my dreams/nightmares recently..and often find myself thinking like  '"wtf was that all about?" .. there are some recurring themes..and I now tend to think there is some meaning to them even if I cannot understand them straight away.

What are your views on this? Do you think they are random.. meaningful..or something else? Thanks.

It really depends on how you define "meaning." If you had a tough day at work and during the night you dream of scolding or shouting at your colleagues, then I suppose that "means" you need to work on your stress management. On the other hand, dreams can be messages from other beings that we may or may not be able to see. Although I have not experienced this firsthand, I do believe that dreams are a medium of communication between us human beings and the spirit world.

In a nutshell, if you want to find meaning in your dreams, first try to practice remembering them, then decipher their meaning once you have a clearer picture of your dream after waking up. One method you can use is to make a mental determination to remember your dream just before you sleep. Chant "I wish to remember my dreams as vividly as possible when I awaken" three to five times, then proceed to sleep. Alternatively, you can choose to keep a dream diary to track your dreams and see where they are heading overall. Sometimes, we need to piece together our dreams to see the bigger picture and better understand the meaning behind each dream.

The end of separation is the end of desire. It’s life, it’s death, it’s unity; it is the absolute. In this profound realization, we find perfection eternal, a state of everlasting harmony.

Like for example they are "messages " from the subconscious mind or guidance to you in life . For example if you are entering a marriage soon that you don't feel 100% certain that you should  enter and you dream that the person you are about to marry is killing you . Then does that mean a message to guide and tell you to not marry that person or is it just random hodgebodge ?

What is the spirit word ? I don't believe in anything that I can't access via my 5 senses .

Sometimes my dreams are faint and murky I don't remember them. And some are incredibly vivid that I spend my day in total schock 🤯 not believing it was a dream.

Yesterday night I dreamed that I went to mecca in Saudi Arabia and there was a muslim terrorist who bombed the kaaba 🕋..

What the hell does this dream mean giving that I'm very attracted to the Islamic religion?

Might also tell you that you are in the process of overcoming your fears of commitment. You were afraid, now you work through this fear in your subconscious, it gets visualized in your dreams and afterwards you feel free in marrying the person.

Interpretation can be veeeeery abitrary. Is there really any meaning to dreams other than the story we create ourselves? Don't know

I don't think it's either this or that . Sometimes they can mean something..Sometimes random. For example if you think about something specific all day everyday chances are you gonna dream about it .

Yes, interpretation is very arbitrary : )

You can do it on the meta level (in general dream means sth vs. does not mean anything) and on the content level (particular dream means this vs. particular dream means that)

Do you think the presence of a terrorist act in your dream reflects any underlying fears or anxieties you may have about the world or about the religion you admire? How might societal narratives about Islam influence your subconscious?

Your dream may represent an inner conflict or struggle between your attraction to the Islamic religion and the negative stereotypes often associated with it. This duality can manifest in dreams as a way of processing complex emotions.

Additionally, dreams often serve as a way for our minds to process current events or societal issues. If you have been exposed to news or discussions about terrorism and its impact on various religions, this could influence the content of your dreams.

Wow, that's where the "real" world lies. Your 5 senses have nothing on the Spirit world. That's who you really are. You're a Spiritual being in a human body. Operating from the 5 senses alone will surely make suffering prevalent in one's life because they are usually the effect not the cause. You have a lot to learn, my friend. Wake up.

To address the dream issue, yes I believe they have the capability to send you messages in the relative world. One just have to be able to decipher them.

Spirituality aside: Regarding the 5 senses, I also recommend 7 1/2 lessons about the brain from Lisa Feldman Barrett.

Maybe . Like I said I'm reading into Islam a lot recently. Reading the quran and the story of Muhammad and trying to make sense of how Islam views the world metaphysically and historically .

And it cannot be ignored that Islamic terrorism (in the "real world" ) is a thing . So maybe that dream was a sign to confront the terroristic aspect of Islam and make sense of it. And make sure that I have a comprehensive understanding of it .

In the west Islam has really negative stigma because of the continuous terrorist attacks over the past 20 years in Europe and the United States.  So it does affect the mind.  Once again this needs understanding .I Don't have one yet .

Yeah that's highly likely to be the case.
