Do you regard Sociology as an important or serious field? Why is it so ridiculed?

Sociology is annoying. I was lucky to have the Prof Armin Nasehi from Munich.
Good thing he was so cringe that I did not waste too much time with that stuff.

I asked to AI too make sentences like Armin Nassehi:

“The ontological oscillation between structural determinism and agentic voluntarism engenders a hyper-complexity that defies reductionist binaries and necessitates a meta-theoretical synthesis.”

“In the hypermodern epoch, the epistemic rupture precipitates a radical deconstruction of hegemonic epistemologies, culminating in a rhizomatic proliferation of decentralized knowledge regimes.”

“The recursive dynamics of reflexive modernization demand an incessant interrogation of the ontic preconditions underpinning the social fabric.”

“A semiotic deconstruction of praxis unveils the cryptic semiology embedded within the interstitial spaces of discursive matrices.”

“The polycontextural differentiation of societal subsystems engenders a dialectical tension that simultaneously propels systemic integration and centrifugal disintegration.”

“Hermeneutic phenomenology necessitates an acute methodological attunement to the polyphonic rationalities and intersubjective intentionalities of social actors.”

“The autopoietic self-organization of cybernetic social systems foregrounds the recursive feedback loops and self-referential mechanisms that sustain systemic homeostasis.”

“A Foucauldian genealogical critique elucidates the subterranean power-knowledge nexus that orchestrates the biopolitical regulation and subjectivation of bodies.”

“Phenomenological epoché reveals the eidetic structures and noetic-noematic correlations that constitute the lifeworld of social agents.”

“Critical social theory must excavate the latent contradictions and dialectical antinomies inherent in the capitalist mode of production to catalyze transformative praxis and emancipatory potentialities.”

I would rather do Psychology or History. Sociology is brainwashing.

On the contrary, if you feel that way about the subject, arm yourself, one must know their enemy to defeat it.  I've studied sociology as an avocation since first exposed to it.  I don't believe 'they' have gotten to me yet...completely.  For example, wokesters, when measured against the typical human are standing in good stead in my opinion.

I think they got you. You are hard to understand like the sociology types. I posted the AI text connected to my Ex Prof. He said if you want to learn something here then you are wrong. So at least he was kind of honest.

lol.  I think he is wrong (If I'm understanding correctly). The challenge of sociology is that it has a very fluid nature.  It is a science of patterns and what constitutes good or bad is open to interpretation.  I think for an inflexible personality sociology is a lost cause for study.  We can witness Jordan Peterson to get a glimpse of how such a personality will pervert what should be a study/discussion, not a declaration.  It is why I was so gratified when I read Fallon's (neuroscientist) book, firmly rooted in science.  Funny enough, my sister is a psychologist, but I only met her about 5 years ago via a DNA test.

You seem to have a fluid personality. lol. Actually in theory sociology is the best thing. It is basically gossip on an academic level. What could be much better. It is a very human thing to do but the problem is at one point it becomes to dangerous for society. Most societies are very fragile and people with ideas are a thread. So they have to castrate sociology so it becomes toothless.

For example I don't think you can study nazi ideology in sociology in most countries but you can do it when you study history.

Interesting point and one directly related to the study of sociology...that's why I have always loved it.
