The fact that I went to college and I'm in this situation is absurd.

I have a bachelor's in Communication and Media. I have a Social Media Marketing Certificate.

I have experience and a portfolio in Social Media but I am struggling to find jobs with my degree.

I didn't spend all this time, money and investment in school to not be able to get a job afterwards.

This is just completely ridiculous.

What do I need to do to find jobs in my field?

Managing a companies social media presents is a very indemand job. You should not be having problems getting one.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

Managing is a higher-level position though.  Are you going through the normal channels?  Such as common and not so common online jobsites

Half the people I know have degrees. They all work in other fields. My sister has a journalism degree and she used to work in the casinos managing people who clean the casino floors. Now she works in a school.  I know one that has a Business degree and works as a timeshare agent. I mean the list goes on.

My daughter started college with a scholarship offer from Savannah College of Art & Design, she wanted to wait for her first two years were over before she took advantage of the scholarship.  She became somewhat disheartened about the way things were moving for her so she switched to a junior college that offered certifications in emergency health services.  In about two years now she is full-blown Paramedic Captain and still has time to devote earning an undergraduate degree in health sciences at the University of Texas. And the money she makes is very good.  Equivalent to an IT degree.

As I encouraged her a few years ago.  Don't be afraid to make a change!

@Princess Arabia This isn't right though I didn't spend all this time to get a degree to not be able to get a job in my field.

Not only that but I am WENT BACK and got a certificate in social media marketing. That cost me an extra six weeks of time and another 1200 dollars and still can't get a job in my field.

@Leo Gura What do you think about this?

I have my bachelor's in Communication and Media.

Then I went back to school and got a social media marketing certificate.

That certificate cost me an extra six weeks of time and another 1200 dollars and I still can't get anything in my field.

@Salvijus Your right and what the hell type of college system lets you invest over 100,000 dollars in a degree and you can't get a job in the field afterwards.

This should be illegal.

Nothing within the matrix makes. It's all backwards. Literally. Except for not breaking the law, do the opposite of what they tell you to do. I went to school for 10yrs to learn how to read and write and memorize and form sentences.

So you're supposed to be a social media manager, yet you can't build your own personal branding and sell yourself? I mean, the biggest purpose of any business being in social media is to make sales, and you're unable to sell yourself.

This is very much a feedback loop.

Build leverage. Don't just chase. Use your knowledge.

Show up to those businesses, start creating some content on YouTube, networking, talking to businesses, being helpful. Look up online the kind of marketing social media managers do to get their clients.

I mean, essentially your goal is to build a Social Media Marketing Agency (SMMA). Frame your job as helping businesses make money. In other words, your main job and profession is to MAKE SALES.

Those job boards are the bottom of the barrel way of getting leads for interviews, you're running against the flow.

Build your leverage.
