You are valuable and whole already. I'm sorry you're having issues. Go take a break from this discussion. You'll find out one day that no one here, including me and including the owner (but especially me!) really hasn't any clue what they are talking about   It's just some fun and it's good for book recommendations and complaining about how it's difficult to date as a man in 2024. The health forum also has some good advice. Find what's true for you and works for you and follow your flow. Whenever you wanna come back if the site is still up, I'm sure you will be welcomed back. What you do for their safety differs from what you show them to your liking.

If your kids can't understand you or don't do what you want, would hitting them be your only option?

Sorry, my metaphors seem to consume non-metaphors lately

Vaccine = Early experience that creates immunity to later expose
I personally use the word ubiquitously as I'm also starting with all others
(see violence in movies, know violence exists, less surprise/disturbance later, better prepared)

War Movies are vaccines for the Psyche, though they can work either way
But the realistic ones at least both show the horrors of humanity and
Create the desire to avoid them through awareness or do something about them

It's all an active balance though just like with real vaccines, that you gotta get right
And it depends on the kid as well, they may get nightmares for months or just shrug

That would be a shitty solution since understanding has to be established regardless
Otherwise, you're gonna be hitting them over any little thing into adulthood
The solution would be to get better at communicating, teaching and empathy
