Had a chance to re-read this today. I never actually did see my aunt. And I don't have to feel guilty for not seeing her. That's my past speaking - how family is sacred and the tradition, rules, and culture need to be respected. Is that really true? The same elders who bullied and suppressed my authentic self?

I'm changing my last name despite my sister being uncomfortable with it. "You need to preserve and respect it." Says who? These are the same ignorant people that told me to always respect my elders and never question their authority.

Defying all these structures is how I opened my mind and am becoming more free.

I am also leaving this forum, as I am sick of it here and will not continue to exploit myself to all of the abuses. I will not explain the reason for my departure any further, because I do not owe it to anyone.
