When Ma Tin Aung Myo was four years old, she was walking with her father one day when she became very upset as an airplane flew overhead. After that, she cried every time a plane flew over, a behaviour she showed for a number of years. She said that she was afraid that the planes would shoot her. Around that time, she began saying that she longed for Japan, and she gradually told the story of being a Japanese soldier who was killed by machine-gunfire from a low-lying plane while he was stationed in her family’s village.

She also showed a strong identification as a male. When she was young, she played with boys, and, in particular, she liked to pretend to be a soldier. She said that she wanted to be a soldier and asked her parents to buy toy guns for her. She also insisted on wearing boys’ clothes, and this produced a crisis when school authorities demanded that she come to school dressed as a girl. She refused and dropped out of school at the age of eleven. As a young adult, she continued to identify herself as a male, and she preferred that people address her using a male honorific instead of a female one. Dr. Stevenson last saw her family when she was twenty-seven years old. At that point, she was living with her steady girlfriend in another town. Her family reported that she still talked about wanting to join the army and continued to dress as a male.

All of this could have been dismissed as simply a normal childhood fixation for a little Californian boy, but his family had no connection with the sport and couldn’t explain where this sudden interest in it had come from.

That is until, aged just two, he began to share his memories with his mother – memories that appeared to be from a past life.

‘One night at bedtime, Christian told me, out of the blue, that he had been a “tall baseball player”. I agreed that one day he would be a tall player but he corrected me, insisting he had been one,’ says Cathy, 54, an estate agent.

‘I didn’t think much of it at first, but as time went on, and his speech and vocabulary improved, he began to make more of these strange statements.

‘He said he would travel by train to games with his team, they didn’t wear batting helmets in those days, and they played by day because the stadium had no lights at night. He talked about staying in hotels and being on planes when he was ‘big’ saying: ‘I didn’t wear seatbelts and I drank alcohol.’

It was when Cathy began to look into baseball history that things got stranger. She showed Christian a team photo from the Babe Ruth era, and he immediately pointed out Lou Gehrig, who was born in 1903 and played for the New York Yankees from 1923-1939 – and famously didn’t speak to Babe Ruth for five years (the pair apparently fell out over women).

‘Very firmly, he said, “That’s me” pointing at Lou Gehrig.’ Cathy showed Christian more photos, and every time, he picked out Gehrig without hesitation. ‘He was able to name Gehrig’s parents, who were called Henry and Christina, and told me, “Mummy, you were her.”’ What’s more, Cathy observed her toddler’s dimples were in the same place on his cheeks as Lou Gehrig’s had been.

Amy Weiss, social worker and daughter of renowned past life regression expert Dr.Brian Weiss, reveals in this article how past life regression helped her understand the source of her eye cataract condition, which lead to a healing effect on the same.

But as soon as her father instructed her to think back to the source of her cataracts, Weiss closed her eyes and says she was transported to another place and time.

‘Immediately, I saw myself in the body of an old man with long white hair, living in the Middle Ages,’ she says.

She was living alone in the hut far from a village.

‘Basically a hermit,’ she says. ‘But these townspeople thought I was a wizard and that I was doing evil.’

Weiss says she saw the villagers storm her hut and set fire to everything she owned.

‘And the fire burned my eyes. It blinded me,’ she says. ‘I could feel his pain.’

As she watched the atrocity play out before her, Weiss says her father then initiated the workshop’s next step, telling them to fast forward to the end of their previous body’s life and ask what that life meant.

Weiss’ eerie message was 'Sadness clouds the eyes.’

‘For me,’ she says, ‘that had a double meaning, not just that I had been carrying the cataracts and the literal blindness from the past life, but I had been carrying that man's sadness in the present life too.’

This is not a book or an article but a really interesting talk about the possible mechanics of (conscious) reincarnation ("choosing" your next life). Essentially, he draws parallels to lucid dreaming.
