Democrats' Plan to Win Rural America Again

10 posts in this topic

Democrats can and must win back rural voters. Otherwise, they will never be able to hold control of the Senate and the House in Congress for long, let alone never have a supermajority of Democrats in both chambers of Congress.

A number of rural Democratic politicians have been successful with rural voters in recent years:

I wonder if rural voters care for democracy.

We need to massively educate them a lot better somehow.

I am totaly out of touch with politics, for me things like left and right are old ideas that  handed us from french revolution. I can't make sense of current conservative or progressive movement nor I want too. Each group has it's own survival agenda to meet their needs. In other words I see politics as everything other than politics.(As it is intended) When we lose the frame of what it is, things become fluid and people get lost in shadow play, so things like ballot box becomes the place where the wolf eats the lamb.

According to Pew Research Center surveys:

  • In 1964, 75% of rural Americans trusted the federal government to do what is right "most of the time" or "just about always."
  • By 2019, that number had dropped to 33%.

This decline in trust is attributed to various factors, including:

  • Perceived government overreach
  • Bureaucratic inefficiencies
  • Unfulfilled promises
  • Changing economic and social landscape
  • Polarized politics
  • Right-wing propaganda fueling erosion of trust in government

To reestablish trust, it's essential to:

  • Listen to rural concerns
  • Deliver on promises
  • Improve government efficiency
  • Address rural-urban disparities
  • Foster transparency and accountability
  • progressive propaganda that reframes government as a force for good.

@Hardkill I respect the help, but if you just made government limited again you’d win back the countryside voters. They don’t vote because regulations by the government basically cuck them over in daily life and business. No amount of propaganda is going to change how someone operates their life, or their descendants, or regularly take up their jobs or jobs similar to theirs.

I strongly disagree.

One way or another we have to rebuild that New Deal coalition.

I found this to be a good video on why a lot of good policies have been prevented from being enacted in this country in contemporary times:
