Could you be happy on an empty planet?

20 posts in this topic

Life purpose, meaning, career, family, friendship, socializing are mostly dependant on a society or other living things.

Could you be creative without any other people to acknowledge it.

Could you live a meaningful life on an empty planet?

Could you live a meaningful life without creating a family?

What are your honest answers?

Are you okay being dependant on society?

I honestly think I would miss humans greatly, as much as I hermit and do my own thing, i still like having people around and interacting with them when i want to. Overall, i think it'd be a negative expereince, but i would find happiness with it.

Who knows though, none of us will ever know what our true reaction to that would be

Your talking to a bunch of Solipsist, in their minds and experience they are already alone, we are just made up things lol.. Null and Void question for most around here..

For me, I'm not of those types, for sure it is possible to be Happy and Alone, Happiness is about You not any "Other" we just use "Other" as the spark, but if one masters themselves they can be Happy in Hell if they want too, so being Alone and Happy is for sure a Possibility, but I'm not quite there yet, I l like ppl generally but not too many of them on small spaces like here in Toronto, too many ppl in a city not designed for it, it causes chaos and suffering, so less ppl and more space:)

Let's be honest.

Most of us here are heavily introverted nerds who dream about living alone on USS Voyager somewhere in a deep space.

Yes, maybe occasionally having a sexual intercourse with Capitan Janeway, but not more than that!

Love has no value unless it is shared.. And creativity/art is an expression of love. But you're never alone. Such a thing doesn't exist. Nor is your ability to communicate with other beings limited to physical contact.

Not practically possible, unless you had the requisite basic survival skills.

Without any human interaction at all, eventually, like Tom Hanks in Cast Away, you might end up befriending a soccer ball. It'd be like experiencing radical solitary confinement in the long term. I suspect that, at some point, we all would miss human interaction to a greater or lesser degree, even if we consider ourselves "loners".

I think most humans are social, spare a few. What about education, hospitals, law, schools etc. The whole human system is designed for survival. How can you live alone and be completely safe without human contact? Seems impossible to me. We live in a social structure for basic security. And what about mental growth? Would we grow abnormally in an alone state? Nobody has really conducted such experiments because that would be tantamount to abuse.

I think they have done research that for "Survival" level of living we are very good within Tribes of about 500 ppl, I heard/read something about that, but in today's world of mega cities, millions of ppl living in tight spaces (I hear here in Toronto there are certain culture groups that join in and rent a spot and 10+ppl live in it, that is the only way they can afford it), is not so healthy, for sure my observations and experience tell me this, it creates chaos and suffering overall, nothing works right in those places, but in small groups on survival level experience its fine...

For overall potential, yes we can live alone and be perfectly fine, as all Experience happens within us, you can create whatever You want to experience at will, under your control, it would be a bit harder to find Your own food, or grow it, and build Your own housing and such, but many have done this and its been done over the generations and it worked out fine... We are too spoiled today, ppl think loosing Uber or Wifi is a absolute disaster when it means very little in the overall scheme of things!!

And what if you had a medical problem? Where's your doctor at?

You think the medical profession is saving lives? It may be in emergency situations, but why are the emergencies happening? Accidents, stupid events being put on by stupid ppl, too much chaos because everyone has a plan and wants to execute it in a place where millions and millions of ppl have their own plans and want to execute it as well, there is where it all happens...

If your alone and know the reality as it is, very content and peaceful you'll be at peace with death and such if accidents do happen...

I guess in that case You would be screwed, like if you get cancer and there is no treatment to get since there is nobody around to help... What I am saying is that it is possible to live completely alone within a certain level of Consciousness and Awareness, if one is not that high up that ladder then they will need more or less ppl around them, and it mostly for emotional wellbeing, yes physically we need others to help with obtaining food and medical situations, but in the end ppl want other ppl around for Emotional wellbeing and security in a way, but that can be a double edged sword...

I think this question might fall into the "what is a woman" (Leo's blog entry) category (or similar). Why? It may see simple on the surface and most may come up with obvious answers. Answers like, humans are social creatures, I like to be alone even though I like to interact on occasion, we cannot survive without others etc.

Since humans are only interested in their survival we have to look at the intricate details of what that entails. Except for the obvious food, shelter and clothing, why do we engage in the other things we do for survival. If all we do is for survival; and survival for humans is more than the basics, would we be happy by not engaging in those things that doesn't necessarily engage the basics.

What is happiness. Why are we happy when certain circumstances occur. It's different for everybody. First, we would have to understand why does buying a new car, for example, makes us happy. Is it a feeling we're searching for. Can we get those feelings alone. Why do we desire those feelings. Is it because it's our true nature and we're seeking to connect with that. Can we do that alone. Here in the relative world everything is in relation to everything else. Even the explanations you all gave as to why you think or not think this is possible was in relation to something else. The mind is used to that. Is that the existential nature of the mind and can it function without having something to be in relation with and would it even survive if it didn't have opposites.

We have to really look at the engineering structure of what is happiness to the human before anyone can truly answer this question accurately. It's all just going to be speculation based on past memories.
