Biden dropping out

It's hard to be a great leader when he can barely speak.

Being president requires inspiring confidence in the people. Biden is incapable of that due to his senility. His voice barely works.

Most people perceived Reagan to be too old and too senile to run for another term as president when he ran for re-election in 1984. He had serious signs of Alzheimer's by coming off as really forgetful, and stumbled a lot. He also did terrible in his first debate against his Dem opponent Mondale. Yet, Reagan won re-election in an historic landslide.

When FDR was dying and looked very sickly during his re-election run for a 4th presidential term, all of his advisers, many other people close to him, and many other Democrats in his party said urged FDR not to run again. They called him a cripple who was finished. Yet, he too proved them wrong when he won 4th term in another historic landslide.

@aurum I agree but I'm not sure how to go about this sort of thing. Like, I don't think Strika is bad faith or anything and they hold a line of reasoning that to us seems odd. Like, I will concede that if Trump exists, it is because he's supposed to.

Maybe let's put the shoe on the other foot. What if Bernie Sanders became president and was doing all sorts of good things for the world and we were happy about that, then he barely escapes an assassin's bullet? I'll be honest, the thought probably would occur to me that "it was or wasn't meant to be".

I think the same thing about Trump, but I don't anthropomorphize God as if God has specific desires and pulls levers at different times to get what it wants. I'm pretty sure I would not attribute Bernie escaping an assassin's bullet as divine intervention. I'll admit the thought would likely cross my mind, but I wouldn't allow it to stand.

The intuition of divine intelligence is NOT the problem. That’s actually the part that is correct.

The problem is the corruption of this intuition into thinking that God is helping your criminal conman get elected.

This is a tale as old as time. Human’s rationalizing the greatest bullshit in the name of “God’s will”.

This shouldn’t even need to be explained if you seriously follow Leo’s work. It’s very clearly laid out in his content how this particular self-deception works.

Yes, if Bernie dodged a bullet and we all started saying that this proved Bernie was God’s favorite, that would also be corruption. So let’s not do that.

The whole function of God is that God cannot have favorites.

Sadly, our ideals of what is healthy tend to be sick.

You're right about the past, and if Biden stays in the race, he'll get my vote. However, this election is critical, and there's too much at stake. We don't have control over who the Democrats choose to run, so we'll have to wait and trust that the party will make the right decision and then have faith in our fellow Americans' vote choice.

Most level headed take I've seen on the topic so far.

(I'm sure the immature online Left via TYT and the like will rake her over the coals for this highly reasonable take).

Yeah that was excellent.

Bernie also gave a good take in the NYT supporting Biden. Somehow I think they will be more correct on this issue than a leftist streamer.

How is going forward with a candidate who is losing in polls and has a dementia episode every interview “mature” and “correct”? It is literally running towards defeat.

Raze we've been through this already. I'm not getting into it again.

@aurum I should have been more precise with my words. I wasn’t saying I wasn’t sure about the topic and I wanted to figure it out logically. The whole communication was a good faith effort/exercise of trying to see how it could arise in myself so I could possibly see how it could arise in Shirka. I just wanted to clarify, I hold no such beliefs and I’m not a Trump supporter.

You’re totally fine. I did not assume you agreed with their position.
