A lot of silicon valley culture has to fo with promising unrealistic stuff and then working hard to deliver it.

If you make it, you are a genius, and a con, if you don't.

Ultimately, they are people just like everyone else

If you make it, people will celebrate you... They always "knew" you had it in you

If you don't, you're a loser

Ultimately only you know yourself

I don’t think he likes Trump. He just dislikes the other candidates.

People need to realize intellect is entirely orthogonal to emotional and cognitive development. Then, it will no longer be surprising an individual as smart as Elon behaves like a man child, regardless of being the richest man on earth.

When it becomes obvious one's integrity and moral development are on par with—if not lower than—the average MAGA cultist, it should become clear that whatever virtue you think he might have is useless in the context of beneficial societal impact.

At this point, he's a billionaire on his way to becoming the first trillionaire, with an agenda to grow the MAGA cult. People can talk about his virtue in an attempt to be balanced, but at a certain point, when you understand survival and psychology sufficiently, to speak of Elon as someone who isn't every bit as worthy of condemnation as Trump himself, for the societal harm he's causing, is absurd.

He's now buying votes for $47.

If truth is the guide, there's no need for ideology, right or left.

Maturity in discussion means the ability to separate ideas from identity so one can easily recognize new, irrefutable information as valid, and to fully integrate it into one’s perspective—even if it challenges deeply held beliefs. Both recognition and integration are crucial: the former acknowledges truth, while the latter ensures we are guided by it.

@Joshe Wow, he's trying to pay people to vote Trump? Surely that can't be legal?

So Elon is going to buy the swing states? No way that's how the election will end.

Is it just me or does this look like an insane gamble from Musk? Does he have that much to lose from Trump losing that he's willing to go to prison for him?

I imagine it's a gray area and he is aware of legal loopholes. If Trump wins, Elon stands to win big. If Trump loses, Elon can easily use his money and social media platform to clean up his image, so I don't see it as a huge risk to his reputation in the long run.

I just saw a Trump TV ad that takes Kamala out of context, making it appear as if she is saying she thinks all transgenders in prison should be eligible for federally-funded gender-affirming surgery and that she voted for that. Clips were clearly chopped up and taken out of context but the average person can't discern it. I don't see how such an ad could be legal, but I guess it is.

I heard the other day that anti-woke/left videos are the topmost sought after videos on YT. That seems absurd to me but if it's true, that could go a long way in explaining why Musk, Rogan, and the like, have been cultivating that audience. Trump has created an audience that is so big and so easy to dupe, people like Musk saw it and just couldn't help himself.

I think the Haitian cat story was a huge success. I talked to an ex gf in Pennsylvania who was never political but now she is and she don't like the fact that immigrants are taking over. lol. The right's propaganda machine is doing a great fucking job. I'm back to thinking Trump will win, and largely because of the immigration angle, transgender ads, Elon Musk, etc.

That’s why he is rich and successful.

On the contrary, this is why he is 44 Billion in the hole for Twitter and has been repeatedly (including currently) investigated by the SEC.

He's clearly on the spectrum. He reminds me of myself and I likely have Asperger's.  He's not voting for the right as much as he's voting against the left. He has many of the same concerns I do about them. Among the policies that will not end well.. unchecked immigration, excessive money printing, and excessive censorship being the main ones. Also it doesn't seem like any leftist prosecutor wants to give jail sentences for any crime. Crime becomes out of control and instead of blaming lax law enforcement and unchecked immigration, gun laws are blamed instead. Enforce the existing laws and punish people for stealing cars and robbing stores.

That said, there is a global cost of living crisis and I feel for people who have to be wage slaves to barely get by, but it's not something I see the left doing anything useful to fix, when I look at nations like Canada and their cost of housing, they seem more intent on trying to prop up the real estate bubbles, as does China and many other nations. They seem intent in making it not affordable for the working class to reasonably live, no matter what the political makeup of the country. Maybe they just aren't leftist enough is the problem... maybe the leadership are just a bunch of hypocrites who live a lifestyle opposite of what they preach? Maybe they are trying to prop up pyramid scheme social programs with an aging boomer population taking more government benefits and need inflation and consumption to do so?

In any case, the american democrats leave a bad taste in my mouth. So do the republicans, but in the end I cast a meaningless vote for Trump in a state he's going to win anyways, while also voting for legal marijuana and abortion rights measures that are also on the ballot here (South Dakota) ... neither party is going to fix anything.  If democrats wanted to win, they should have picked a more winnable candidate than Kamala with Walz as a running mate. That's on them.  Maybe stop giving $250 billion to Ukraine every 3 months in this never ending war that I believe Trump can quickly end, stop doing this to the national debt...

Perhaps. I'm probably an asshole. I don't judge him for it. :P  Most politicians in general and people who seek power tend to have a certain personality type that is not what you'd call unconditionally loving, then again hating the haters is a trap people fall into that makes them no better than the people they hate, at least in theory...
