Psychedelics feel healthy

19 posts in this topic

My experience with psychedelics was always that the feel "healthy".

The invigorate my body and cause the life inside me to strengthen.

It's especially interesting because psychoactive compounds, "drugs" generally are regarded as subtracting from health, causing bodily harm.
Alcohol clearly dose that, stimulants, opiates. Even though the cause a pleasant stimulus, this stimulus runs into discomfort, pain, disatisfaction.

After taking psychedelics on the other hand, I feel more alive, satisfied, peaceful, stronger.

They are a general medicine in a way. In my experience the reorder the life in the direction of holiness, of perfection.

I'm especially referring to light dose of psilocybin mushrooms and LSD

The only way in which I would consider them to be unhealthy is, if the stimulus is to strong for the foundation to withstand, causing stress in form of anxiety, panic, strengthening psychotic thought patterns.

@Ima Freeman All medicines are poisions

One poision kills another poison

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty. We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Virtuous and Conscious. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life God is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, ... Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

Yeah is interesting how they dont seem to have a Crash. Even Though they usually get you higuer than most of the other drugs. Lol.

I would say the Only crash is the one of consciousness, the feeling of going back to ego is not cool. But health wise is true they do not feel detrimental to the body. (Unless you start abusing but thats just with everything)

Fear is just a thought

I feel the exhausted for a few days after taking LSD, probably from the mind being so active and creative for hours. And I get acid reflux during the trip.

But other than that, it feels much better for the body thanfother drugs.

They expand your awareness and get you closer to the source of infinite health and intelligence, at the expense of our desires, drives and beliefs, whose momentum shape this reality. The pendulum swing creates ego-backlash, as one has to reconcile the newly gained freedom with the loss of the structures that imposed and desired themselves into perception and identity.

Pure serotoninergic products or almost like psilocybin turn me pretty dry and lucid, it may seem somehow healthy.

But if it's strongly dopaminergic (LSD or THC) it quickly turns me in a psychotic mess, with more serious SE (tight jaw, vasoconstriction...).

People on MDMA have this weird vibe where nothing matter anymore and they can excessively look gross and dirty.

Honestly I am not that scared about it hurting my physical body except my mental performance. The last time I did shrooms I had this mindfuck experience but not an intellectual one. Just a "oh this feels so weird" and  it felt very dumb and I felt how my brain cells got fried. Maybe I just imagine this because I have panic that I loose intelligence because its already hard to work with an adhd brain.

This is all true. Shrooms feel much safer to do than LSD regularly. Not to mention the different in how long the experience lasts.

There is inherently something dangerous about doing psychs so I doubt you could call them healthy. in a physical way they are generally pretty safe if not abused. Mental health is different and would depend on the individual to determine whether psychedelics are healthy for them. Regularly doing  low doses could be beneficial to your mental health. It could also be a bad habit.

One time I did LSD and was thinking so hard I literally felt like I broke something in my brain. I didn't feel right for a little bit after that and I stopped doing LSD for awhile. I've tripped since then after giving it some time and it was a good experience. I tend to stick to pretty low doses of LSD nowadays.

I've never had a "meaningful" trip or almost.

Nothing has been fried. It's just confusion.

Thats so bizarre your thinking so hard on psychedelics, Im hvaing deep meditaiton experiences wiht brihgt white intnese lights, it doesnt seem the type of acitivty for compulsive thinking

BTW cocaine/porn/most doperminergic activities seem like the opposite of true psychedelics to me. Psychedelics feel like the are psychologically healing, they really force you confront your psychology

Well, you can do LSD and go outside and go about your daily life, go outside on a hike, go to concerts, have fun, etc. It doesn't always have to be you meditating in your bedroom. I wouldn't classify the thinking as compulsive I was doing, just normal. When your on LSD your brain is being incredibly active. So to do that too often or to overdo that may be unhealthy. It also depends on the dose, a high dose is going to be more on your mind and body. Whether you choose to meditate while tripping and surrender deeply in that way is up to the user. In the particular experience, I happened to not be doing that. I was doing some task at my computer that I was attempting to figure out while tripping. Shit happens.

And just because cocaine and porn seem like opposite to true psychedelics to you doesn't mean they are. Obviously the experiences feel opposite but the euphoria you feel is similar. LSD is a partial agonist to D2 receptors in your brain so it also plays off your dopamine system along with serotonin. To overdo that could have negative effects on your body.

Obviously they are psychologically healing for us. For other people they could have a psychological breakdown. So to have nuance you can't blanket statement psychedelics as healthy. They may be good for us on the forum but they're not for everyone, really. And just because it is psychologically healing for you doesn't mean it's "healthy", in the sense that if you did LSD every day it would take some tole on your body. You could develop HPPD or serotonin syndrome also.

PS. It's not weird to "think hard" on psychedelics. Sometimes you are deep in introspection or trying to conceptualize some metaphysical truth or experience you are having.

Yeah maybe at microdosing levels for me, the bigger doses are deep spiritual work so far, not possible to do tasks on the computer lol! But each to their own

Yeah they are partial agonists to D1/2/3/4, but their mechanism of action and consequence to receptor health are drastically different to cocaine and porn, its a total false equivalency imo.

Well psychedelics simply show you your mind, so sure if you have a ton of repressed issues, and been behaving in unsavory ways for prolonged periods of times, it isnt going to be a fun experience at all for you, whether this is 'unhealthy' or 'healthy' would depend on how someone responds to this.

Sure, each to their own!

I don't think it's fair to say LSD is bad for you. If it's good for you depends on the person. I have been doing LSD for like 15 years, from small to large doses. I don't understand why people act like you can't complete tasks. If you're at a really high dose or the peak of a trip yeah I guess not. You can do stuff on LSD. Think the Grateful Dead on stage performing or Silicon Valley tech bros. Have you had sex on LSD? I become great at everything when I'm on LSD. But if I am on a higher dose I will have to turn inward usually.

I have also received headaches from LSD, tense jaw, body aches, etc. It's worth mentioning but there are no real long term effects on your brain or body.

You could have psychotic thought patterns, thought-loops, manic episodes, etc. If you don't know the art of surrendering in those moments it can be "bad" (is it really a bad trip if you learned something?)

If you are mentally ungrounded you could end up in the psych ward if you're not careful. I have seen it happen to some of the most experienced psychonauts I've known. So I'm not going to run around pretending like it's universally good. Is it healthy? It depends on the person. Is it bad for your body? Not really. Is it good for your body? Not really but maybe for your mind depending on the user. It's really about how you define good/bad or healthy/unhealthy.

The ROA is important.

If you vape psychedelics with e liquid it's not the best for your health. I get mild headaches after vaping for longer periods. Nothing dangerous but it feels unhealthy for sure. But that's mainly because of this e liquid and drying you out. Maybe some electrolytes help don't know

I had lots of meaningful trips but no really deep mystical experiences that I understood yet.

Hopefully. It felt like my brain got fried but it could have been my imagination I made out of fear.

Same for me. They show me uncomfortable aspects of my identity.

I get bruxism too on LSD. That's an indicator that it releases alot of stimulating neurotransmitters. Happens on amphetamines too.

I do feel more at peace and satisfied, so my desires aren't that important anymore.
But I guess I did not take high enough of doses yet to have disolution of ego / ego backlash yet
