Is It Worth Cultivating Deep Love For Life, As A Project?

3 posts in this topic

I've been noticing a theme with Leo's videos a lot, which is to first and foremost cultivate a deep passion and love for life.

Today I have been doing a lot of reflection and journaling, and thinking about my past and future.

There's a lot of problems in life, with family, harsh circumstances now and in the future, and I started to wonder when will I be happy? after 5 years of all day grindy work until I reach my goals?

Then I looked back and I'm not sure how much psychological growth I've had, in the past 8 years of personal development work. I mean, I know I have had, but how much?

These past 8 years I've grounded my life in the principle of taking action (although I've been very faulty here), strategy, etc. but I feel its worth living from a place of passion and love for life now, or else I will never truly experience the magic of life.

But I wonder, is it worth pursuing this as a project? can you really deepen your love and connection to life? and how much?

would turning "cultivating a deep love and passion for life" as a whole ass project, that I proactively work on daily, be worth investing in over the years and decades? Is there true value and true return on my investment?

My concern is that I'll be in the same place I am 5 years from now, and my life won't change much. My strategic mind tells me there are more important things in life, that this won't get me to my goals, that I'll be the same person I am 5 years from now, that sure I will experience more loving and happy moments, but not have actual true internal growth? will this project lead to true internal growth?

If not, what does lead to true internal growth and psychological growth?

My hunch is that this can truly transform my life. Even just in this past hour, grounding myself more in this way of life is making me happier, more hopeful. I feel and can sense a greater shift in self-identity as well.

I care a lot for living a good human life, to reach all my goals, etc. I care for spirituality, but not as much as a lot of you guys, and somewhat for Truth, but not so much. I understand that matters more, technically, but that doesn't resonate with me much at the moment.

@Leo Gura I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this if you could share.

Life right now feels very grindy, and like it'll take me 5 years to get out of the hardcore grind, and I want to use this precious time to really make the most of my time and see what is truly worth pursuing, and investing in. I don't want to waste time, but to invest it properly, and I'm looking for wise ways to invest time that feels worth it. Of course I will invest in health, social skills, etc. but I'm considering primarily investing in the project of cultivating a deep passion and love for life. I really do mean I want to make a whole project out of this, to find ways to deepen that love, to try and experiment with new techniques and experiences, to change my self-identity as part of this project, etc.

Even now I look at my book shelf, of diverse books, and see all these books that can get me from point A to Point B, but that point B is like - once you get there, are you even that happier? that much more connected to life? and change as a person? So how worth it is it that I even spend 5 years actualizing principles from that specific book. Why not just go straight to cultivating that passion and love for life now, in all that I do? But also, where does that even get me? Like okay, I do that, but then what?

Apologize for asking these odd questions, but I do feel it matters to me

Yes of course it is, experimenting gives us feedback which can navigate our perspective. Practicing love for everything around you is vital and makes us feel better, and that is the result we are looking for- to feel better , happier.
Word on happiness: One thing that governs our ability to feel happy is the way we look at things. Even more curiously, we can look at the same thing one way and feel unhappy, or look at the same thing a different way and feel happy. Happiness doesn't have to be the same kind of experience for everyone all the time. It can mean we are not totally unhappy with something, or we can't think of anything at the moment that could make us feel happier. It boils down to a choice and that choice is best made in the present moment. I often take on a perspective of an observer , if there’s a situation in which my belief systems tell me I am unhappy  I will stop for a moment and look at it as an observer and not a participant , I would then analyse other ways to look at it and choose the one that makes me more happy then the immediate reaction. For me practically it works every time and the more I do this the more aware I become of the choices of perspective I make.
