@abundance But Biden could shut the US southern border completely tomorrow via emergency executive action.  He's a mere puppet of the progressives.   His carbon free agenda is completely unrealistic and we don't have the infrastructure...anyway, all my points are moot because they'll be replacing him after his poor performance in his recent debate.  But the border situation has got to be fixed, starting now.  There's no WAY Biden can fix it, because the extreme left won't let him.

I think people are overreacting. Every President tries to hire as many of their people and get as many of their proposals past all the time. This is just a more organized attempt for Trump to do it. Most of this won’t go through because it challenges many powerful lobbies.

In fact, the extreme right blocked Biden's border bill.

Typical right-wing projection and BS.

He already has intentions of using executive action to shut down the border.

And yes I agree we don't have the infrastucture to fully decarbonize. So lets pass the legislation to do it.

Oh wait it'll ultimately be obstructed by Republicans.

The bottom line is that we're going to have to decarbonize at some point. The mere impacts of climate change will force us to. And China is ultimately on the road to usurp us in clean renewable energy tech if we don't make serious strides. But keep thinking us being beholdened to fossil fuel billionaires is WIN for the US. ITS NOT.

And I wish Biden was beholdened to progressives. Lol.

We'd probably would have expanded the supreme court, fully legalized weed, forgiven student loans, etc etc. Biden is as centrist as they come. He's too milquetoast to enact progressive policies.  And he's completely incapable to do what needs to be done to protect us from Trumps authoritarianism. The only reason why one would think he's some radical socialist is if you've been thoroughly propagandized via right wing media.

When is the last time an administration fired thousands of civil servants and replaced them with loyal sychophants? That's whats being proposed here. This is not an overreaction. This is the real thing. And its the playbook for almost every authoritarian leader.

It's actually an under-reaction. People are treating this whole thing as a joke or just a repeat of Trump 2016.

People are not taking seriously that Trump will go full dictator mode. You think he's wouldn't dare. But you don't appreciate the monster that he is. He will absolutely go full dictator if he wins. How stupid can people be? He literally said it. He's not joking. If he wins he will never leave and the Republicans and the courts will rubberstamp all his crimes.

You guys still think he's some kind of okay guy. He's a criminal dictator. Pain and simple.

This is what happens when you do false equivalency: "Oh, Trump and Biden are both lairs, all the same."

No, they are totally different beasts. If you keep doing false equivalency you will end up electing a dictator as though he were a normal politician.

All the new administrations hire and fire people to bring on their own staff. It’s not like Trump is the first to try this. His first term was actually criticized for how many positions he left unfilled.

Even if Trump wants to be a dictator there are still limitations to his power from the congress, courts, and deep state. I don’t see anything in this project that would make him a dictator even if it all went through.

What sort of changes would likely occur in the US if we lived in a dictatorship? I think the following would happen: The cost of living will skyrocket as will poverty and crime, the middle class will essentially be wiped out, key alliances with foreign governments will be broken so we'd essentially be all on our own.

Why would a dictatorship cause these issues? A dictator can crack down on crime and most countries are just fine working with dictators if their interests align.

I'll ask again more plainly. When is the last time an administration fired tens of thousands of federal employees and replaced them only with people who're ideologically aligned to their agenda?

The point about the limitations of power keeps being brought up but Project 2025 is ALL about eroding those checks and balances. It expands presidential power, undermining other branches of government. And with the latest SCOTUS decision on presidential immunity the groundwork is being laid for the next president to be able to make serious abuses of power.

If you can't see how dangerous this whole situation is then you are so blind, biased, or naive that it doesn't make sense to explain anything political to you.

Welp, looks like the Supreme Court, in its wisdom, decided to celebrate the 4th of July by decreeing that Presidents are officially above the law, and have broad immunity from being prosecuted for crimes they commit while in office.

The six MAGA judges aren't even trying to hide the fact that they're going out of their way to set Trump up as an autocrat.

By this Supreme Court's logic, Biden should just go ahead and have Trump black bagged, and claim legal immunity because it was in the execution of his presidential duties. (Not seriously suggesting that Biden do this, but holy fuck does this decision set a dangerous precedent).

All you MAGA people are being conned and you are proudly broadcasting it to the world.

MIKE PENCE doesn't even endorse Trump! What does that tell you? You can't rationalize that away!

In Zimbabwe, after Robert Mugabe came to power in 1980 and changed the constitution to grant politicians immunity, he enlisted a North Korean-trained militia, the Fifth Brigade, to suppress opposition in the Matabeleland and Midlands provinces. This military campaign, known as Gukurahundi, rapidly swept through his opponents' key territories, killing an estimated 20,000-80,000 people in brutal massacres between 1983 and 1987. My maid (who was, for all intents and purposes, a surrogate mother to me) witnessed her husband and the men in her village having their genitals cut off and stuffed in their mouths before being burned to death with car tyres filled with gasoline hung around their necks. She was raped soon after and fell pregnant with a kid who grew up on my parents farm.

Some Christian fundamentalists have expressed a desire for similar violence against those they see as deviating from their beliefs. There are videos of them frothing at the mouth and advocating for public executions. Today. Now. In your neighborhood.

But I wouldn't worry too much; I have faith that the good Christian people of the US will recognise the wisdom of the line;
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." It's just wise to be aware that this sort of thing can happen when a power-hungry, malignant narcissist can't take an L like a man and resorts to throwing their toys out of the cot.

I was in philli today doing game from jersey, and I came across this block that reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
15 December 1791

I took a picture because I found it so ironic how far we are from the wisdom and intelligence that went into the first amendment that built this country, and how it could get far worse with trump. The irony.

It's connected to Trump because, if he gets into office, he would most certainly take as much liberty as the law gives him to fire any dissenting voices and appoint Trump loyalists.

Really it would allow any politician to do that. But he already has a strong proclivity for that type of behavior.

But you are correct that Project 2025 is more the work of right wing think tanks. But if Trump or any Republican gets elected, it gives these think tanks a lot of leverage to implement this plan because these think tanks are the ones that fund their campaigns.

@Emerald From what I read, that's what I understand as well. I also found out later through research how all these people are connected to Trump. But as you say, they fund the campaigns, Im still not sure exactly how much influence it has on Trump. But if they fund the campaigns, Im sure its a good amount of influence.

Appreciate the info
