It’s very good for bones and glycemic health.

Its also pleasant for the other sex, even you don’t have to do fitness in particular for that.

There's a lot more... but if you're being absolutely scientifically honest you can't dispute the massive importance of resistance training for the well being of the body.

This isn't about becoming a gym bro and looking jacked. Most of us in our 30s have to try very hard already to retain the drive, willpower and energy to achieve those body types anyways.

You shouldn't be pushing your body to extremes no matter what you do, but a moderate level of resistance training and cardio is very healthy.

Diet is very important too. Obesity is the greatest predictor of illness. Michael Pollan's quote sums it up well:

@Leo Gura Never seen you so back and forth on a subject. I quoted you saying it does nothing for health. You responded it did then.

Are you trying to reverse gym culture or something? Misrepresenting exercise and weight lifting is not a good way to do that.

In your example, the ice cream would make you gain fat. Not muscle. They’re obviously different.

And yes, in your other example- if you were to stop eating, you could lose weight without exercising at all!

And if you never drove your car- you’d never have to spend on gas! You just can’t drive your car anymore!

I’m not going to explain 5th grade health class to you. I don’t think you need me to either.

You clearly have some bias against physical health or are failing to clearly portray your thoughts in this medium.

What matters to women mostly is a wide frame which is mostly lats and shoulders. Also a thick neck and traps are also important. Arms, chest, abs are quite overated.

Also people say that a nice butt is helpful but mine is not too big so cannot comment. But big thighs and calves are not very important either.

You can easily develop those parts if you go to gym 2 times a week which amounts to around 3 or 4 hours a week.

The idea to go to gym 6 times a week is bullshit.

You don't have to be a total gym rat to maintain a good amount of muscle mass. Just make sure you prioritize protein and nutrient dense meals, do some form of strength training you enjoy, and go on a few walks if you find yourself being sendentary. A little goes a long way. Muscle mass and bone density is incredibly important as you age as it can prevent injuries, perserve your metabolism and energy levels, and keep your mobility. 

You don't have to drink a whole gallon of water every day, obsess about getting 100-200g of protein, and go full body builder / athlete mode if you're just an average person who is looking to maintain their health over time.  I'm sure the kind of advice where you workout 7 days a week, do a shit ton of cardio, and get in your protein shakes is applicable to people who have specific atheletic goals, but for maintenance, I feel like most people are just over thinking things. 

Personally, I've been finding more inspiration from old people who lead fairly active lives. There is this one lady that I follow on social media whose like 68 and she does strength training. She's not super ripped or skinny but she does look energetic and happy and whenever I see her, I'm just like *I know she has good bone density* lol. There is also this like 92 year old grandma that I saw somewhere who just does a little bit of pilates and yoga for the past 40 years to maintain her mobility and flexibility so her kids and grandkids which I thought was really wholesome. I also have a neighbor who when I moved into the neighborhood as a kid he was probably in his early 60s. He was always doing various home projects, trimming bushes, mowing the lawn, walking his dogs etc. 15 years later he's pushing 80 and he has no signs of aging and is still capable of doing his little projects. I look at him and I'm just like *I'm sure if he falls he WILL be able to get up* lol.

My point is that if you want to maintain and build some muscle mass, you can do it by lifting weights in the gym, doing something more low impact like pilates or calisthenics, or just maintain an active life style so you have your functional strength. Just find something active you enjoy, stick to it, eat your protein, vegitables, carbs, and healthy fats, drink water, stay away from things like drugs, and you're good to go.

There is a difference between bodybuilding and going to the gym. Bodybuilding is stupid and will ruin your health. Higher muscle mass that exceeds a certain limit will put a lot of strain on the body, your body must work twice as hard to maintain this form.

I think Slim or fit is the right goal, not muscular.

Make-up has been around for centuries. Most women don't put on make-up for just that reason. Make-up for the feminine is more about an accentuation. To enhance. Accessorize. Like wearing jewelry, to complement. Lots of people do lots of things to feel better about themselves. There's a difference between enhancing one's appearance to lift one's mood or spirits and compensating with something because one doesn't feel good about themselves. Plenty of women who already feel good about themselves wear make-up. 

What you said is also true, but it's not the sole reason and for most females it's just another accessory and a way to express via art. It can enhance ones features and can make you feel better, sure; but not necessarily because one was lacking in that department initially.

@Princess Arabia I used that example to show a point of the workings of the mind.But when you mentioned it im not sure there is a woman secured in herself like you are saying ,like even Jennifer Lopez admitted that shes  not secured in herself so there is enhancers to make them feel better, thats feminine thats why masculine is secured in itself and thats attractive to women.Its not that im saying women being insecure is bad its how feminine works,outside orianted to feel things and care.If im wrong and you can point me in right direction.

I don't really mean it in that sense. Every human has some type of insecurity - it's natural because of our nature. EVERYONE. Now Jennifer, I'm sure doesn't need make-up to make up for any lack in that department; I've seen her without make-up and she looks fine. Even if she wasn't insecure about her looks, she would still wear it. You said feel better, and I was just stating that it's not always the case with make-up. That's what I'm addressing - the make-up issue and that alone. A woman can wear make-up and still feel the same as when she had none on.

I'm not sure about all that about insecurities is how feminine works and how the masculine is secure. I've met many insecure men. IMO men are more insecure than women but mostly in the dating department. Also career wise if they haven't achieved because they are so competitive and base their worths on their achievements. But that's another topic.

I addressed the make-up issue because so many men have the wrong idea about it and why it's worn. Different women for different reasons. The main one is not to feel better about themselves but to appear more attractive if worn properly just like wearing a nice dress or shoes. It's a feminine thing. Would you say a woman wears dresses just to feel better about themselves; no, it's a feminine thing to do and a choice to wear it. Same with the make-up. It's not there to feel better about yourself but to enhance one's appearance just like an accessory can. Unfortunately some women do need it to feel better about themselves but others can feel better just for feeling better's sake when wearing it, but not necessarily because of some type of self-esteem issue.

@Princess Arabia Where we are splitting again is that you think if someone is born with a penis automatically means hes a man.No man is made,man has zero insecurity,man is self centered,self reliant rock that nothing can shake.In todays age i think there are more enlightened people than men.Im talking in my experience the less feminine i am the more secure i get in myself,its a hard process,man is so many layers of skillsets,mindsets that takes years and grueling work its not like you become a man with age.

No man talks bad about a woman or have insecurities around a woman.

My queastion is then why would you want to enhance your apperance?

I think dress appeal is and why women would buy it instantly if they like it,because it promises if you wear me all your insecurities will go away thats bottom line of it.

Same why women prefer a man because if shes with him she feels way better than alone he enhances who she is and how she feels about herself.

If you're asking this then what's the point. Would you go to a job interview with smelly and dirty clothes. No. So you enhance your appearance for that and a million other reasons. Enhancing one's appearance is done in many different ways and you do it too for different reasons other than wearing make-up. The fact of even working on one's self is an appearance enhancement. Leo worked on his blog for appearance enhancement, you type words on a screen and try to format it nicely by using paragraphs is an appearance enhancement. Why look at wearing make-up any differently. It's an appearance enhancement just like any other. The bias is within the judgement. That's all.

@Princess Arabia Exactly the point is what is the reason behind it, for a man if the reason is to enhance apperance like build muscle to attract a woman is a weakness and feminine vs enhancing his apperance because thats how he will better survive for example fighting off the attacker its all whats the reason.

A minimum effective dose of exercise to garner the most results would be something as basic as the following:

2x a week full body resistance training / weights.  30-45 min

2x a week cardio (any kind) at low-medium intensity for 30 minutes. Heart rate should be high enough to be breathing heavily but not so high you can barely hold a conversation or speak. If unfit - a brisk walk will achieve this, if fit - a light jog with or without incline, if very fit - jogging with at a incline will achieve this.

1x a week do 15-20 minutes of High intensity interval training (HIIT). You want at least a total of 10 minutes in the high intensity zone giving it your all or almost your all. You can make up that 10 minutes in multiple ways. Do 1 min on (give your all) 1min off (resting, or slow movement) done 10 times. Or 3 min on (medium high intensity giving it almost your all) 2-3 min off (rest, slow movement) done 3-4 times. You can make HIIT low impact on joints by doing it on a airbike/elliptical machine.

1x a week stretch/yoga for 20 minutes.

That's 2.5 hours of your time a week to give to amping up the only vessel you have to experience this life in. Not a waste of time at all.
