Helping People Or Just Looking Away

4 posts in this topic

Hello everyone!

I sometimes meet people who suffers from depression, have all sorts of difficulties in life that I know with the amount of wisdom I gained from personal development could help them. I really want to help people but I am afraid they could just bring me to their level of depression and misery and my own development could suffer. So instead of me building them up I'm afraid it can go they bringing me down.

I just wanted to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks to everyone who reply :D !

@Sidi

      Don't help until you become so crystallized that you are not affected by their depression. Awareness becomes your natural state, if you are doing efforts to remain aware, that awareness is not real.

     I'm not saying don't help a child in the forest if you find him crying and weeping. But try to understand: your own light is not burning and you start helping others.

    Compassion is a very delicate affair. It certainly has some place in making an effort to help others, but there are many conditions which have to be fulfilled first..

    Compassion certainly includes the idea of helping others, but not against their will. If somebody does not want to be helped, you are not to force him; not at the point of a sword do you have to help him. That is not helping. That simply shows that in the name of helping you are trying to dominate people.

   Compassion cannot allow you even to do good to the other person if he is not ready for it. Compassion gives total freedom, respect and dignity to the other person.

   When you sympathize with somebody, you are higher, better, and the other is lower, falling, degraded. Your ego gets immense satisfaction out of sympathy. But this is how the unconscious mind functions. You don't know exactly what you are doing.

First grow into a meditator. Meditation becomes your way of life, not an activity. Then only you will know, how to help others, and yourself.

Well.....I would say totally help them. But then,what you imagine as help is only words,and words cant help,cant teach,the only think that helps and teaches is experience.so people must live in order to learn.so your help must be meaningless. Ive tried to help a billion times,some people,but it wasnt helpful in the end. Not that I was being influenced by them,but I didnt help them also.People only can learn from experience.and you cant give them experience unless they invite it first and they re ready to experience.thats it.its sad.so the timing is also very important.but we are so many people in the world,and definitely we cant help each other.sad again.we are all alone.and we must give our fights.

First of all big thanks for everyone for their reply i really appreciate that. I must say that I totally agree with what u have written and must say u gave me a new point of view.

I never gonna stop offering my help and showing the people the way to higher awareness (i think that is my life purpose ), but thanks to you I realized I can help only the ones who want to be helped.

@Prabhaker  Thanks a lot for your advice. I've been meditating for 2 years now. And I think you are right maybe it is just an ego trap I am falling into, I'm gonna make sure my intentions are coming from my higher self. And what i realized i must go a long way down my journey before i can look back and help others.

Thanks everybody :D !
