You can do both. Minimalism just means to have a really tight core circle of possessions. Just have a small but classy wardrobe.

God and I worked things out

A balance bettwen trying to fill a hole in your being with consumption and a healty relationship with possess things you desire and need. I really dont need so many clothes. For me would be great to walk naked everywere. But reality is much more complex so total minimalism is not a realistic goal

Minimalism is about freedom, appearance is about expression. Look for the source of your question

Have only nice clothes, a few of them.

I don't think it's so powerful but it depends on the person. If it is important to you and good clothing can make you feel good, all power to you. In general you want to avoid dressing so bad that it sticks out.

This article sums it up nicely.

Just following the 1st rule is probably enough.

A lot of very rich people tend to dress minimally, wearing just plain clothes so you can't tell they are rich by a glance and so they spend less time thinking about what to wear. Steve Jobs always dressed the same. He had multiple sets of the exact same clothes. That is as minimalist as it gets I guess.

In order to dress well, the most fundamental factor is just that your clothes fit well. With a minimalist approach, that just means you keep a handful of "sets" that cover your essentials. In addition to clothes that fit well, look for clothes that match your wardrobe and ideally that also made of at least decent quality fabric. Avoid H&M and that ilk of clothing stores for most things. You are better off spending that little more for something decent if you are only going to keep "the essentials".

I wear basic black clothes most of the time. A nice chain can boost your outfit significantly.
