Should we limit global population levels

It more a combination of controlling birthrate, by creating institutions that allow more conscious individuals to be on the planet at any one time, not talking about creating "Enlightened Beings everywhere", just ppl that are more conscious and less Compulsive in their nature, if this happens then random need to procreate will drop, wars will drop, overall suffering and abuse will stop... As well the other side of the coin is that ppl are living longer, that is also why the population is higher, its not just birthrates, so we have to change most everythiing, we are too Consumer orientated, this comes from being Compulsive too as well as looking for fulfilment outside of yourself, look for it within and that will solve many of our problems...

Do you hear yourself talking like this? You do know you sound like some communist right, trying to bring a Utopia of globalism onto what? 3rd world countries that don't quite follow westernized cultures, western doctrines, and feminism/egalitarianism/neoliberalism ideology right? You do know if you spouted this to actual African tribes, nations, and middle eastern theocratic cultures, they will very likely refuse to listen to your imposition of some stage green/yellow ideal that interferes with their cultures and traditional/conservative values right? And if they do, and will, refuse, what will you do about it?

Also that's a big IF to drops in procreation. And people living longer doesn't increase population, it's mostly the factor of birthrates and marriage and traditional values followed by a community that incentivizes those values. Living longer here...feels like to me you not only are anti natalist, but hate old people too right?

What are You talking about, hating old ppl? I took care of my Mother when she was old before she died, and my Wife helps old ppl, why would I hate old ppl. You sound nuts Dude!
You asked a question, I answered, if we keep on going the way we are going things will get worse, as they have been.. I've seen big changes in the Quality of LIfe around me since I was young, in my 50's now, so even within my own tiny lifetime things have change tremendously, and its happening faster now... I live in a Big City, with too many ppl that have too many plans, what happens when everyone has plans to do something, chaos happens, divisiveness happens, struggle and strife and suffering happens, the city here can't keep up, things are going nuts here, a 16yr old was shot dead 3 days ago, another shooting with 2 dead 2 days ago, the major hiways have accidents and holdups everyday, the transit system breaks down everyday, ppl with no means to survive and low income being kicked out of their homes due to poverty and I live in one of the most wealthy countries, its nuts here and it 10x worse in other places in the world, having more ppl here only makes things worse!!

@Danioover9000 well yeh that’s obvious. I didn’t say that it was easy. The world will need to experience more pain before we get any kind of global cooperation like that

But what is the solution? This is it. There has to be an effort to redress the balance. At the very least what I would like to see is more mature honest political discussions about global population levels and how we manage it going forward. Efforts can be made here. You mention liberal but actually most liberals would disagree with the whole premise of reducing global population

As mentioned at the beginning the whole notion of reducing population is a controversial one. This is why we don’t even discuss it let alone how initiatives to help bring levels down

Sometimes political differences are irrelevant. Global population will reach, and in many cases has already reached, unsustainable levels where we are destroying the planets ecosystems at such a tremendous rate that its impact will massively harm the lives of millions of people. People do not want to accept this but it’s just what will happen. It’s not an opinion unless we figure out some ground breaking technology like fusion

Yes.

Minus the age gap, it's the single biggest factor in the severity of any problem affecting the human race as a whole. So 99.99999% of them.
All problems are magnified with more people.

Unless people want to seriously push for colonizing infinity (space) in which case population becomes irrelevant.

Yes well put

More chance you end up bumping up against one another and conflict arising. Like with traffic on the roads. The more traffic the more road rage
