Will You Be The One To Surrender To The Great Dao.

13 posts in this topic

The Term Dao was coined by lao zu.

No one knows really who lao zu was.

All he left was the Dao de jing or Tao te ching.

The eternal Dao, the endless ocean. This was clearly embodied by the Master lao zu. He was a very rare human being. There will only be a handful who truely go deep into the great Dao. Because it seems almost terrifying to your human self. Who likes to stay in its comfort zone.

The more you go into it the deeper it goes. A silent realm of non being. A deep dark infinity. Doesn't a little part of yourself shake in its boots when you here that?

This is why lao zu was rare.

You know that your world will never be the same.

you are not separate from the great dao. The dao is a endless ocean and yourself is a wave. Let go of your little wave identity and be the infinite ocean.

The distinction of the wave is only a distinction, it still doesn't deny that the wave is a aspect of the whole sea. Just as yourself is a distinction it doesn't separate you from the rest of what you are. The dao is none other than yourself. Don't be afraid. You can be the next one to surrender to the dao.

No.  I probably won't.

Just venting here, nothing to do with the OP..

I'm starting to see this forum really sets people on the wrong path.  It's a good forum, but maybe I really do have to go it alone.
Also, why are you spiritual folks so set on preaching your ways?
Ego this, reality that.
You're this, you're not that.
You're all love, no you're not.  You're nothing.
You're doing it right, no now you're wrong.  Here's the right way - my way.

It's all just more bullshit to tell people that there is something wrong with them.  It's just another beauty pageant.  Ridiculous.  Do any of you really feel like you're more "on the path" talking about this path every day?

This place... spiritual folk... are the quintessential "you're not good enough" "there's something wrong with you" "let me peddle my agenda" bullshitters.

My ego says, "This world is shit.  Time to go be a hermit."

@Annetta Maybe you don't get it. Don't you know that enlightenment is all about psychic powers and transcendental unicorns with rainbow farts? If you level up to lvl 60, you also get a ghost steed. It is funny. There are so many assumptions about what "enlightenment" is, and after you cut through all the bullshit (which really just seems to happen) it is recognized that striving for a concept that is outside of what is already present is so crazy. That is what the self is in its most basic form. Striving after enlightenment is the same as striving after money. Its just different content. It doesn't matter how many crazy experiences you seem to have in the end, because it is seen that nothing outside of what is happening can be known, which makes sense because it is nothing, so knowing it as a separate object is impossible. It also makes sense because the self is knowing which arises as the same unknowing that is everything, which means nothing can be known with certainty. When that is recognized it can be seen that the self is entirely made of unknown claiming to be known. It is a contextual story claiming to assert control over separate objects. People see enlightenment as a separate object that will make them whole, just like anything else. In this case the self just happens to insert a value judgment which makes it ok because it is "spiritual". But no one can control how they approach it, it just happens.

Meditation is the mind training itself. You are just along for the ride.

Holy shit, couldn't agree more! Something is distorted and it ain't me. Most troubling about some of the posts I read is a subtle but concerning issue of ownership. I guarantee that if in the context of sharing, a person would replace the word "you" with the word "I", the level of ownership and responsibility and possibly insight would elevate. Dang and thank you!

My ego is thinking, "I can't conceptualize dropping all concepts.  What am I missing here?  Don't tell me I'll just daydream about it.  I can do it myself."

I know what this is, I remember being a small child.  "I" just don't want to die.  Can't complain about  it anymore either. Hmmmm.  More chasing.

@electroBeam what do you mean, you're assuming I don't realise that the ego is a part of me.  Come on now

@electroBeam The ego is a false construct created by the mind, it is a part of the person, though but like a loose tooth can be wiggled free gradually.

Eckhart Tolle speaks to an interpretation of the evolutionary development of this thing called ego. He suggests that at one time the ego did not exist, as a species, we lived in complete harmony with each other and every living thing on the planet. The ego began to develop because the human being began thinking more about himself than others, turned inward so to speak. The "false construct" you mention manifested, grew into a thought stream that created thought then action against, anti, became self-serving and internal. It is false because it was made up, was not of an original true nature of being harmonious and connected, designed to serve another purpose, self preservation. I have no clue if this be the truth but it may allow us/me to see that at a cellular level, we do have a true nature. Maybe we ain't as "doomed" as I think we are?

@TJM1959 I think you're right, I was just watching this video here and it talks a bit about how that might have developed over time.  What do you think?

It's a bit off topic with the schizophrenia talk, but it's interesting to think that a God was speaking to us when we first started to develop language.
