Why doing meditation with closed eyes ?

Isn’t already egoistic to consider the black field as purer?

Each time try playing with my consciousness to tend to dissolve, expand my ego I just want to open my eyes and contemplate, it's almost like a small dose of 5 meo dmt and my ego tries to go into other three-dimensional worlds.

Closing your eyes already feels like an ego trip (“I have to close my eyes to cut myself off from my environment and blahblahblahblahblah”), and it’s going nowhere, it’s just a relatively less egoistical position than usual stuff.

Closed eyes to contract consciousness

Open eyes to expand consciousness

Half open half closed, non dual level:D

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty. We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes virtuous and Conscious. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life God is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, ... Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

Meditation is for watching thoughts appear and disappear, and the natural disillusionment that follows from that. It's about watching your imagination and seeing how it works.

Closing eyes removes visual stimuli, so it prevents your mind from latching onto objects in the environment. A pitch black room works even better than just closing eyes IMO, since you can keep them open if you want, it allows more "freedom" in that sense.

If there is less stimuli in one direction (sight), focus on another stimuli (thoughts) will be enhanced.

In hindsight, if you pay attention, experientially all objects "disappear" if there isn't sufficient light to illuminate them visually. All that is left of "objects", without sight, is just physical touch. This prevents the mind from thinking about external objects, and thus primes it for observation/inquiry.

The assumption that it's about "cutting off from the environment" isn't true and probably comes from stereotypes, for the record. It's not about anything you can think of, it's about seeing what thinking of things actually is.

Closing your eyes increases the likelihood of going into a physiologically relaxed state. Heart rate and breathing slowing, brainwaves moving to alpha and below, etc. That being said, it's obviously not strictly necessary and I don't meditate that way myself.

Do whatever works . I do both depending on how I feel. Sometimes I want to focus on sounds or my breathing and I close my eyes. Sometimes I want to focus on the wall, how it subtly warps and shifts.

Yeah. He also said for adhd it's easier to meditate in a noisy environment. I love meditating in the morning and listening to the birds. Totally agree with him on this (have serious adhd)

@Oppositionless I'm the same way if there is alot of noise its much easier for me to do it. I can do it at work much better than at home if that makes sense.

Kind of like being around people makes me naturally more alert.
