How is it possible that while we are asleep, we forget about this reality?

I got curious after I woke up, I saw myself enjoying the sleep and dream, not questioning if I was asleep. And when I woke up, it feels like I comeback to the “real reality”, but while asleep, why do we forget about this reality (the reality of when you’re awake)?

I once slept while fully conscious. It was so cool.

"Say to the sheep in your secrecy when you intend to slaughter it, Today you are slaughtered and tomorrow I am.
Both of us will be consumed.

My blood and your blood, my suffering and yours is the essence that nourishes the tree of existence.'"

Are you talking about spiritual awakening, or waking up in your bed, or both at the same time?

Intrinsic joy is revealed in the marriage of meaning and being.

@Juan According to the film Inception you can have a dream within a dream within a dream. So you just need to fall asleep in your dream. But I guess we forget about the previous waking state/states at each new dream level.

One problem is we have never awoken from this apparent waking state. But one day we might.

Ramana Maharshi said the dreaming state is the true self and maybe reality itself and you yourself dissolve when dreaming. The sleeping state is the reality. This waking state is the dream.

But I still can't answer your question. Maybe remembering the dream state is part of the convincing evidence of this waking illusion.

Waking up in bed. I had like a sharp contrast when I woke up like “Ok so I was at this other place just a moment ago, how didn’t I had a memory of my real daily life?”. While being awake you can remember your dream, so maybe while asleep we are in a very low state of conscious so that we can’t remember it?

Everything that you’re experiencing right now.

@Soul Flight Thanks for your feedback, very interesting.

If Consciousness didn't have this magical ability your memory would always taint the next world that you created or spawned into.  Imagine if you reincarnated into Moses but still remembered you were Hitler in a past life.  That would be quite a hindrance.

Agreed, but then again people have lived their lives in a Hitleresque manner and then reformed themselves.
