Gut Microbiome Testing?

7 posts in this topic

Can anyone recommend a decent test for determine gut health? Balance? Microbiome etc?

As some of you may be aware from reading my journal or previous posts, I am suffering with some issues, and I believe they may well be long covid related.

I have done all sorts of tests but someone made me aware of tests on gut health.

Anyone on here got any advice for testing Gut health testing?

Cheers

Have a look at InVivo. Pretty good combination of ethics, evidence basis and price. Give them a call and ask to chat to one of their practitioners.

@ZenAlex I do, both with their supplements and their test.

I did a calprotectin test with a client once who was not able to get it from a GP and I did the SIBO lactulose test once. Otherwise I haven't done tons of gut tests as most people are able to get what we need from their GP. The tests we did were easy to follow up and results arrived within 2 weeks or so which is standard on the market.

Their supplements are also interesting. Some a bit speculative, other with good evidence basis. No other company I know have that much specificity for what each is trying to target. All of their supplements are therapeutic supplements, not necessarily maintenance stuff like probiotics. I've had some moderate results with their Femme section for a client with recurrent UTI but hard to tell if supplements alone did much as we did tons of other things. The BioMe section is also interesting for people with SIBO/IBS

Overall, I really like InVivo, they are B-corp certified ethical company, their marketing is not shady, they produce regular impact reports and seem to actually care about the environmental impact. They do tons of practitioner training, their products are GMP certified and they collaborate with specialists in the field to develop new products. I would say they are the Patagonia of the health test/supplement market in the UK.

When going through long covid websites, I got people constantly advising me of the below test for gut health, and if you have long covid you get a discount.

What do you think of the test above? Would appreciate your input on how useful you believe this test would be. (Understand you can't give advice etc but what would your initial thoughts on the above test be?)
