I think all sports should be banned.

1) Golf courses will be used to produce the crops

2) Football and baseball stadiums to store food for short periods of time

3) Ice hockey arenas to store food for long periods of time

4) Basketball courts will be used to distribute food to poor and homeless people

The food will be handed by rich white men who would otherwise be playing golf or watching LeBron play basketball.

Basically OP's argument to the extreme.

The OP failed to make it more dramatic by inserting conspiracies. Golf courses are basically hiking places for the rich where poor people can not go there or something like that. One could argue that it is the most capitalistic flexing sport.

I couldn't care less how many golf courses there are.

Nice that you dont care about the Issues of your own Planet. Dont try to go Absolute now and say that in Gods Perspective caring about Golf Courses use of space and water is irrelevant.

Reason why is because conspiracy theory is against forum guidelines.

Also I disagree that golf course and golfing driving ranges are just for rich white people. People with an interest golfing are welcome.

Don't misquote another user please. She was responding to OP's point of too many golfing courses.

I get where your coming from. Padel for example supplies a lot more fun if we look at it per square inch. But golf isn't just for pure fun, it has a massive learning arc to it which takes skill and which people take joy in mastering.

Golf can also provide multifaceted value as they usually are conserved green spaces that become like the lungs of a urban city. We can say that these are exclusive to the few who can afford it but golf courses can also and are also used to host events and provide walking paths for the public.

Economically they bring a certain level of prestige to area which can help bolster the economy which feeds into the local economy and tax base that can then be used to fix the housing issue for example. Housing can probably be better addressed with zoning laws, urban planning, underdeveloped vacant urban sites etc.

Seriously, I am one person and I pick and choose what to be concerned with,.golf clubs just isn't one of them. Not everyone will care about every single thing that needs attention. That's why there are 8billion of us. You have turned my statement around to say I don't care about the planet which I never said.

I am well aware on how to integrate the dual with the non-dual in life. I don't get up saying oh well it's all one and nothing matters and it's all irrelevant. If that was the case I wouldn't eat or even talk to anyone.

How is this response warranted towards @Princess Arabia? She's sharing a more spiritually and yes subjective opinion, and you're sharing some partial objective opinion on golf, and here I am arguing with you that there are loads other sports, combat sports, and other social arreas that take up more land than golf. The fact you think that golf courses, golf driving ranges, golf clubs, do not provide any benefit at all displays your bias and ignorance of golfing when we now have a more diverse demographic trying out golf. This stereotyping of white rich man mostly play golf is CRAZY, and just assuming golf does not provide any entertainment value or benefit to those golfing is simplistic!

Malls sells goods to people needs and otherwise value, in exchange of flattening the land, converting that land from wildlife into social and marketing areas for commerce for many centuries killing more land than golfing courses and golfing centers. Vehicles have been a mode for transportation for decades, going back to the 18 century to today, in exchange of paving roads and converting paths of land from wildlife into domestic usage for people traveling with vehicles. And yes roads have existed for far longer and have killed far more parts of wildlife than golfing has. My comparisons make sense and are strong because you are hyper focused on golf taking lands more, when so many other areas of society and other sports have in history been taking and converting lands far more than golfing did! The paper you use to write in your journals, the paper printer you use, the envelops and letters you write, the card board boxes you have, literally all paper products came from big capitalist companies that manufactures those raw materials from many trees, contributing to deforestation FAR MORE than golfing does.

there are more valid uses of land than others. Humans interact and part of said interactions are trade. if malls are bad, then medieval or ancient marketplaces were. they're the same concept and practice. Vehicles of some sort hcve been used for millennia.

No, I don't agree with your comparisons. People travel, so we need roads. people require goods and services, so we need malls. Paper has an event use and few believe its use is unethical. we even recycle paper and manage forests so they're not overused in the process. Not many environmentalists say that paper is wrong and it should be banned, and even if they do it's most likely a minority of said people. Even still, they are more effective uses of land compared to golf. Few people play golf, yet it disproportionately uses land compared to other sports or activities. Which sports took up land to the extent golf has? Medieval jousting was held on noble estates or urban areas. Roman gladiatorial events took place in urban arenas. Even then, the population 1000 or 2000 years ago was way less dense, and there were simply fewer people around. There were not 8 billion people alive in 1000 AD or the year 1 AD. In 2024 AD, with the same amount of land as previous era and with more people, we need to make better and wiser decisions of how we allocate and utilise said lands.
