What is the martial arts trap?

64 posts in this topic

@Basman Martial arts teach you precisely that. If you train you will see how limited you actually are and you won't overstimate your capabilities on the streets. This is a common thread among practiciones, the more they practice the more they would avoid an actual fight because they know how unpredictable is a street combat.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty. We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes virtuous and Conscious. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life God is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, ... Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

True, and I feel like this man, while he's intelligent and maybe wise and experienced, still needs to develop past this martial arts trap:

For about 15 or so years he's been addressing and attacking dogmatically BJJ and Joe Rogan!

A real world fight is very different from MMA. I saw a serious fight break out in the casino lobby. One of the guys grabbed a chair and was swinging it to kill the other guy, and the friends of both sides were there both fighting and trying to stop the fight. It was total chaos. It took like 15 security guards to break it up.

In a real world fight you would never want to fight with bare fists, you would want to grab the nearest blunt object.

Imagine UFC with chairs and beer bottles.

Wow, that was a real fight indeed.

Hands are actually the worse part of the body to hit with, that's why gloves are worn in the first place. Kicks are better but you need flexibility and elbows are also good but you need to break the distance.

There are tones of martial arts that use objects, which end up being more useful for street fighting, the best in this area is Arnis. A more specific martial art is Kendo very brutal but just uses sticks. Although since guns exist, martial arts for self-defence have become pretty useless, a knive or a gun and you are done.

If you ever want to try a martial art I would recommend you BJJ, it's safe, useful, fun and a sport for intelligent people.

It is. If you would like to check the most real fights, there is a company called King Of The Streets. Fights are bare knuckle, no rounds, no rest till one can't go anymore and no rules. It's not my cup of tea and I don't like the subculture, but it's good to see how humans actually fight 1vs1. I like this fight you will feel the spirit of such combats and how everything changes moment to moment; Warning it's graphic.

This sums it pretty good. Watch till the end, it gets so good.

Lesson: Use bottles, bite with teeth, aim for throat, break fingers.

Again, he's right on the violence bit, not about Islam, but isn't aware of his own biases, plus how susceptible he is to trolling😂

True, but one's religion I don't think is a significant factor here.

Yes, in the real world there's no holds bars no rules fighting for SURVIVAL. Biggest trap though is discounting the spiritual aspects of martial arts.

Also if you get stabbed it will happen so lighting fast you can't really do much. So don't get into fights.

P.s. Leo were you putting all actualized donations on red? 😁

This is why Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do and Russian Systema are superior and valuable than any one fighting or martial arts system.

The most effective martial art is to kick a guy in the balls.

You can't really defend from a knife attack, it's not like someone will stab you overhand they'll be laser fast stabbing you multiple times within a second in the stomach / liver. You won't even see the knife, you'll think he stomped you in the stomach.

@Leo Gura that's another trap lol.

There are different figther archetypes. It's true that there is a monk fighter archetype in martial arts, but don't overspiritualize everything

The main problem with that is on average in a street fight, you're likely assailant would be high on drugs or alcohol or too pent up on adrenaline, so nerve pains would not reach that quickly to the attacker's brain. High on drugs, alcohol, or even steriods they tend to not be as susceptible to nerve pains. Just look at the massive violence in Chicago or other black ghettos during the heroine and coke epidemic, they literally needed weapons far more, and even some evidence showing how resilient some people are in such states of being. while it depends on moment to moment, most universal way is shooting them in the legs, or actually destroying their limbs so they can't move them, or a straight up knock out strike.

Have I ever stated or implied that JKD, Krav Maga or Russian Systema makes you highly resilient or immune to knife attacks? No I haven't, and even with Eskrima or Filipino martial arts with knives I don't suggest knife fighting. Even if you're really good there's little guarantee you'd not get sliced or maybe stabbed, so avoiding or running away if possible is best against knives, using a gun or nun chucks back then.

When I stated that the biggest trap is discounting the spirituality aspect of fighting, the masculine love aspect of fighting and those moments of religious experience while fighting, I meant that the guy I quoted here is delusional in thinking to include Islam as a bigger factor in fighting when the environmental factors and cultural factors are greater than Islam. Also he keeps on saying how Islam is a peaceful religion...

Frankly, the way all these fights break out is when two fat egos clash and neither one wants to step away.

The best way to win a fight is to just not bring your ego into a situation so no fight materializes.

When it comes to fighting, ego is the biggest trap.
