Alternatives to physical books

I'd like to travel more in the future so I'm looking for an alternative to physical books. 

Does listening to an audiobook count as reading a book?

I don't know how you guys do this. But listening to something for prolonged periods of time makes my head and ears a bit warm or something. It's an uncomfortable feeling to have those earphones in for long durations..

My pocketbook has a text to speech function. When I’m tired reading I let it read the pages for me.

Yeah, I  hate listening too. I like to see the whole text in front of my eyes and analyze it.

How fast do you read? It takes me ages for finish a physical book.

Reading should take ages, especially if the material is dense, but your reading speed will increase the more books you read.

Also, you need to be dynamic in your reading, for example, I fast read some paragraphs or pages that I find not that important, or I just scan them rapidly looking for key points.

This is a great option. Personally, though, Kindle never captured me in the same way as physical books. The latter somehow makes the experience more palpable and real.

Imagine listening to a Ken Wilber/Ralston audiobook?

99% of info will be forgotten in 2 days.

I never listen with headphones.

My phone is easy to hear on loudspeaker.

Get a quality phone with good speaker. And get Bluetooth for your car.

@koops Ken Wilber is 100% meant to be read as an audiobook. He like repeats himself 10 times. Perfect for listening first and then you comeback uf you haven't understood something.

Ralston is one of the few books you want to sit down and carefully read. Most other books don't demand that.

@Butters it can count as knowing the book but I think that reading physical books is worth it. Till date I have bought 4 books (3 Self help and 1 philosophy which is meditations) and I would say that reading actual physical books is worth it. Even tough I have 1 Kindle ebook.

There is a great little book by Peter Drucker titled Managing oneself.
Explains how some people are listeners and other are writers.
The same way some are wired to write and other to speak.

I guess we are different in this regard.

I like to go back and forth. Underline. And go back days, weeks, months back to the underline parts. Im very visual, so audiobooks for deep books dont cut it for me.
