Unracking Beliefs Vs Changing Beliefs

6 posts in this topic

What's the difference between approaches that let you dig up the root cause of a negative limiting belief and just doing straight on affirmations or visualizations?

I think I have an insidious fear of rejection that makes me extremely calculative when I'm interacting with other people. I always plan what to say and how to say it. I'm never authentic. I'm always aware of what I shouldn't say.

I'm not familiar with tackling the root cause of a limiting belief. I believe(pun not intended) it's about digging up an event in your past and changing your stance on it(reframing). I'm not sure how that process goes. What should I do in my situation? How should I deal with other beliefs that I find they have a root cause?

If you can recommend resources I would like that as well.

I'm reminded of the statement Leo made in his video "A Vision For The Self Actualized Life" where he said "Wiping the whole slate clean". I'm interested in how would that be possible and how to go about it.

For example I am the total opposite of you. I never think of anything when I talk to others. I don't think about what to say, how to behave... I have been like this ever since my childhood. I always wanted to be like you. I need to be really in the moment calculating everything. I just don't care about people maybe that's why I am like this.

It doesn't sound like there is fear. There is merely desire for a certain way of operation (calculating in the moment). You might actually have a limiting belief which is "people don't matter" implied from "I don't care about people."

Or it's just that you didn't learn that people matter which is saying that a belief didn't get installed that usually gets installed in other people (possibly genetically or through social conditioning)

Do you think it's a limiting belief?

I'm honestly fine with hypervigilance. I would say that I in fact enjoy it. I want it to be my temple. It's a cage for me now. It's holding me in so many ways.

Heritage and environment are the two ultimate things that naturalist writers use in their stories. A protagonist in this case he could be any of us is both limited by genetics and other people. So it's highly possible that what you say is true.
