True. Thanks for pointing it out, I haven't thought about this. Perhaps we are all still trying to grow ourselves🙂

Then of course, self-improvement does produce significantly improved individuals as well where you notice a significant difference, as you've rightly intuited. However, those individuals are probably relatively rare. Most self-improvement people have either just started their journey and experienced little to medium progress, or merely show interest in it, or even wear it as an egoic garment. And again, all these people were probably a little more neurotic (conflicted) than the average person on the street when they started. So all in all, you probably shouldn't expect a big difference in either direction.

We definitely share more than simply being human.

I didn't say we don't have anything else in common but what is common amongst EVERY person here. It's the only thing ALL of us share, the rest is divisible. Not everyone is using this forum for self-improvement either, other reasons are at play. There are other sub-forums unrelated to self-improvement.

I just said Saturn and used it as an example.

This forum is not the only place in the universe where you get "the real shit". There are also other places to find great minds.

Still better than many out there. Twitter & Reddit have becomes a cesspool of hot shit lately. This forum is far better than all of that. And you need to keep your expectations low. This is as better as it can get.

Average folks do not care about "the real shit". They just come here to argue and get a distraction from their lives or hang out for fun. Nothing wrong in that, but that also means Truth may not be the priority.

People do get pissed off, and that's why you need to be more careful when pissing off a mod vs pissing off some common user, this is how it is.

yup.

Maybe you can learn something about yourself/your teachings from the users you attract?

I've been doing that all along.

Imagine an alien who closely observes earth and has a life span of 500,000 years.

The alien would see empires come and go, influential and uninfluential people live out their lives. There would be drama, love, endings and beginnings.

This forum is little bit like that and Leo is the Alien since he is the only constant participant here.

Maybe contemplate why others arguing bothers you? There could be something there to teach us about communication, or it could be an issue you have with life.

Myself, that's how I communicate a lot of the time. Debate, questioning, and then arriving at an understanding by going through that process. Some bosses, for example, love it when I pull apart systems and then find ways to do them better, they can handle questions on the fly with no problem. Another boss thought I was trying to usurp their authority.

To give this a parallel, a good meditation technique is on the train or somewhere noisy near distractions, it's a great practice for being able to be anywhere.

Reminds me of video game bosses. At first they seem impossible to beat, but over time you learn the pattern and behavior; then you’re able to beat the boss.

Thanks man, you made it much more clear for me. Your claim also suggests that most people who jump on this path started from a much more neurotic place than the average person, and so you have here a wider spectrum with with only a few people that are well developed.

I was just saying that over time it seems that the number of people who are very neurotic is becoming much larger in ratio to the highly developed. Is it a good thing? Don't know, but it's harder so sort out the good advice and the advice of people who'll claim they understand it all when they don't.

Obviously I'm not saying that as though I'm something special. I know I have so much to grow

Everyone that's here knows that they are at the website of Actualized.org. Doesn't matter the sub-forum, they are still here because of Actualized.org

Very nice insights.

I also had "huge" expectations when I first came to this forum a few years ago. But I have come to realize the reality of the matter and accepted it.

And you just gave the extra clarity needed here to close the deal.

May I ask you something. Is there anything in your life that you had huge expectations for, in whatever way and it gave you lasting satisfaction. Just asking. If so, could you briefly describe.

Hmm. Lasting satisfaction / happiness is tricky because no one is happy 24/7.

But yeah, I’ve had huge expectations for myself in many areas of life. For example, personal development. And the journey has been deeply enjoyable with its ups and downs.

I would say that I would have missed out on so much joy if I never got into the journey, and surely I would be less happy, not only because I missed on so much joy but literally because personal development has taught me how to be joyful!

Other than that, I am a very ambitious person and expect a lot from myself. I want to provide massive value to the world and deeply touch the hearts of many, with a huge vision - and surely I will have ups and downs in the journey. But I think, overall, I will be much more happy and satisfied that I am feeding and embodying this ambitious part of me, rather than repress it.
