Mindless human activity

21 posts in this topic

Sometimes I do think how mindless people are in how they operate in their day to day lives.

For example I often go for walks in the meadow to connect with nature and be more present. I feel very blessed that I live in such a beautiful area but I can tell you like 99% of everyone going for a walk in this meadow (and generally) is walking the dog and they do the same bloody loop each time. I just feel like they are operating on some kind of machine like level where they are just ticking off what to do and then do it in a mindless fashion. I rarely see people like me actually connect with the spirit in nature and nature bathe. They just use it for walking the dog and if they didn’t have a dog would they even be out here connecting?

it just annoys me. It’s like people don’t appreciate it just use it like some kind of tool without any intention. I know this is just one example and I too do mindless stuff but it seems quite significant to me

This is when I do get the strong feeling that I am operating on an entirely different level to most people. I have always had a strong inclination to be different from the crowd

This is definitely linked with Leo’s video on how socialisation makes you stupid

The more I socialize with people, the more I think about what I might be missing in terms of insight, perspective or mere perception that they are tuned into and which I am not.

I feel like each human have this  like cycle they are in, and a lot of it is quite mindless as you say, and it can be hard to break out of and into something new, but why do it if you feel fine in your little cycle, like many seem to do, otherwise if they were so miserable they would try to change or maybe im wrong.  Average is fine as long as one is cool with it themselves. Seems nice to me to be able to just mindlessly go along sometimes without having any major problem with it

I've noticed the same thing, people are more intelligent than meets the eye. Sure they are biased and simple mind in some ways, but they are also wise and profound in other ways.

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.

Yeah, there is probably some other guy camouflaged in the woods who is high as a kite on LSD and looks at OP on his nature walks and thinks "man, this guy is so stuck in his routines, he is not even dropping psychedelics on his nature walks; I'm getting so irritated watching him do this every day" (must be a microdose I guess). Meanwhile, there is a second guy travelling through the woods in astral form, thinking "man, these people are so stuck inside their bodies, it's so irritating watching them do this every day". Then you have the mystic sitting under a tree thinking "bruh, these guys spend so much time engaging in forms, they don't even know about the formless" and then goes back to the void. Then you have the Buddha at the gas pump eating a hot dog.

Lol i swear. People always have to refer and compare to other groups , it’s never just them doing their thing independently of judgment of others kind of.

Can you just enjoy your ride without enter into a kind of strange contemptuous magical thinking about how (you think) things happen in other people's heads ?

@Carl-Richard  tbf I could have it ass backwards as Leo says. Fair enough

I just find it mildly irritating. I like to walk undisturbed by constant dog walkers doing the same thing. Sorry if I have offended any dog walkers.

It just strikes me as very unintentional and process orientated but they may unlike me be the real inner Buddha lol

As long as the dog is happy 👍🏻 it doesn’t mind the same route 🤣

@Schizophonia It doesn’t bother me like that it’s just like this minor irritation that I have noticed. I go so frequently to that place I end up observing the exact same patterns of behaviour and think oh here they are again. My inner introvert in me is partly to blame. I prefer to be undisturbed

having said this I really truly don’t get the sense people deeply appreciate the nature in the same way. But this is like saying most people think spiritually is woo woo bullshit

Just do what you gotta do. And don't give a fuck about the results. You will not think or decrease the thinking whatsoever.

ego is mindlessness is mechanistic routines

ego doesn't want you to think, it has your back and will run the show, it doesn't want you in the present but regretting the past and fearing the future

all habits are traps

i never brush my teeth the same way each day

i interrupt every daily task, close my eyes and bring myself to awareness

yes and when walking, i always vary the journey and i never know which way i will take when i leave the house

even if its just walking on the other side of the road

another technique is look at everything on the left only for one day, look right the next day, look to the sky the next day

i always greet people too, maybe just a nod of the head, often i often say hello again, even if i never laid eyes on them, it really jolts people awake

@Sugarcoat Animals are conscious it’s just a lower form of consciousness. More basic

I Remember Tolle talking about how alcohol creates less thought in your mind which is why you feel happier but that’s only by dumbing down your consciousness almost as if your are de-evolving as a human

@gettoefl I like the idea of interrupting your daily routine to stop and be conscious. This is what I meant by the dog walkers. I’m not saying they necessarily are all doing this mindlessly in this kind of mechanical routine fashion but it appears like they are

Id say where I do the same for example is with the commute to work and back. Your thoughts are just fixed on getting there and back and I’m less conscious here. Again this to me is the same with the mindless dog walkers where to me they appear to be doing this very unconsciously just to get the task done. Like it’s just a mindless routine habit without the deeper connection to nature. You are in nature just be present

I thought it was quite funny when this guy just lobbed the dog ball randomly and kept walking without even looking and connecting. Just literally kept walking on as if he’d never thrown it. If that is not an example of an unconscious mindlessness way to do something I don’t know what is

Not saying that is always the case though obvs! Apply nuance here
