What Have You Let Go On Your Journey?

3 posts in this topic

I'm interested in what people have stopped doing on their self improvement journey? You can also include what you started doing, but my list of dropped things is much larger ;-). I wonder what the ratio of stopped vs started habits is for other people.

Here is my "I dropped it" list:

- About 10 years ago my parents got rid of our TV

- When facebook was new and cool I never made an account because I thought it's kinda dumb

- A few years ago I stopped watching most of the TV series I watched online. The only series I still watch is Southpark

- About 4 years ago I completely stopped watching news. I stopped reading about it, watching or listening to it

- A few months ago I heavily cut down on the amount of videos I watch on youtube. I hardly ever watch a video directly. What I'll do is add it to one of my watchlists. I have a list for self improvement, one for entertainment and one for music. If I want to watch something I only watch it from my watchlists. The good thing about this is that sometimes I remove videos from my watchlists and don't watch them at all. I find this strategy helps me not watching video after video for hours.

- A week ago I stopped watching porn and masturbating #nofap

"I picked it up" list:

- Started swimming about 2 years ago. This is the first sport I really enjoy, so happy.

- I have been meditating for a month every day

- Have been on a vegetarian diet for 3 weeks

I have been gradually adding and dropping habits but the most noteworthy is that I recently started transitioning to a plant-based vegan diet.

Most significant was to letting go off toxic "friends" ...and weed.
