Consuming mint , spearmint or peppermint hinders Testosterone production〽️

I randomly stumbled upon this claim under a chewing gum YT video and Chatgpt confirmed there is actually some evidence when I asked for actual studies:

A study published in "Urology" in 2004, which explored the impact of peppermint tea on rats, revealing a decrease in testosterone levels with increasing mint dosage.Follow-up research by the same team, published in "Phytotherapy Research", observed testosterone levels in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and idiopathic hirsutism, finding decreased testosterone after spearmint tea consumption.Further investigation into the anti-androgenic properties of spearmint was documented in the "Avicenna Journal of Phytomedicine", focusing on male fertility and sperm parameters in rats.

This only points at the research. Look it up yourself

I haven't checked but I don't think chewing gum or toothpaste contains actual mint anyways.

I absolutely hate my breath not being fresh though

Certain plants may temporarily have a minor impact on biochemistry but usually those things kick back in after exposure. Your hypothalamus is monitoring essential hormones like testosterone and DHT all the time and calibrating it when needed. Unless there is some human evidence that shows peppermint has negative impact on long term testosterone balance I wouldn't be concerned.

Most long term testosterone imbalances are caused things outside of your diet such as obesity, genetics, testicular injuries, chronic stress, prolonged physical pasivity, chemotherapy etc.

Still, if it gives you a piece of mind, dump the chewing gum for an alternative :)

The amount you will consume naturally with tea or as a condiment is not a problem at all.
And above all we cannot directly conclude a drop in androgenity due to a drop in serum levels.

Short fasting increases testosterone, not because depriving yourself of food is virile but on the contrary because starvation prevents testosterone from unbinding from SHBG and entering the cytosol.

What we need to see is the effect of mint on fertility, it is the best indicator of androgenity.

I would be more concerned about sub-1000 calorie diets these vegans are advocating for these days, your test is bound to drop even at 1900 especially if you exercise regularly, that's why Bryan Johnson does TRT.

I don't really think a single chemical like Mint can have a meaningful impact on any hormone, to be honest.
