The Israeli leadership is actually the one group who actually can change the direction of what's happening. Will they be able to overcome Bibi's influence? I don't know. But let's not discount the importance of internal politics. Even western leftist outlets highlight the importance of "Bibi's coalition in shambles."

Netanyahu is known as a war-time leader and given the benefit of the doubt to keep Israel and it's interests secure. Which is why this conflict has benefitted him despite almost being criminally charged within Israel before it. With the war progressing as it has, his internal support is becoming thinner by the day.  

   As @Merkabah Star stated, this is a news thread. So if this thread is white noise and virtue signaling to you, why involve yourself here and not help out the Israeli leadership?

It's astounding the level of self awareness here. You are the one who began referring to @Nivsch's news post as white noise and virtue signaling, and now you're playing the victim lol. 

My point was that if you're going to refer to impactful news such as his as simply white noise, you have to reflect and apply that to most of what's posted here. I don't know why I bother explaining though.

This has been the most hectic, bizarre and borderline psychedelic week. Get that:  

Sunday: a helicopter carrying Iran's PM goes missing

Monday: Raisi is officially confirmed dead. Karim Khan announces he's seeking arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant at the ICC for war crimes.

Tuesday: Ireland announces it recognizes Palestine. Norway and Spain make similar announcements the next couple of day. 

Friday: the ICJ rules that the situation in Rafah is disastrous and that Israel did not do what was required of it to safeguard Gazan citizens. The court orders Israel to stop its military operation in Rafah, and insists that the ruling is binding under current international law.

The international journey for justice in Palestine went, in days, from lazy empty gestures to warpspeed enforceable,  sanctionable, concrete actions, and binding declarations. 

This is the week Israel's action started to really catch up with it.

Why this is especially meaningful?   
  
First of all, there is a cumulative cultural effect: when Israel is denounced by formal institutions again and again, the narrative changes. Now, if you protest against Israel, you are on the side if international law (and, conversely, the police and your politicians are on the side of international crime). 

There is very little any political structure can do against such huge normative shifts.

But there is also a very concrete and tangible aspect to this. From this week onward, any institution, organization or company that want to divest from Israel will have more and more stable and reliable legal basis to do so, and so pressures on the economic and cultural fronts are going to mount significantly, especially as it is clear that Israel is not going to comply. In this regard I would bet it will escalate very soon, as is its old habit when faced with harsh criticism.

Finally, although the ICC and ICJ are two separate institutions, both live and operate in the same political time and space. 

Israel's refusal to comply with the ICJ's ruling, therefore, makes the probability of arrest warrants against Netanyahu higher (and once those are given, Israel's position at the ICJ will be even more deplorable, etc.).

   Yes, if Israel's Likud party do not play carefully they will end up in a more worse situation. One crazy week for sure!

He kinda reminds me of Caesar in the War for the Planet of the Apes.  He hopefully acknowledges the dark side of his own instincts- but also in doing so he preserves his people.  Unfortunately this world will corrupt your values unless you want to remain like Maurice.   But if your leader was like Maurice you would be wiped out by those less advanced mentally.

This thread was started as a news only thread, no commenting and debating, due to the constant arguing that was going on and Leo closing an Israel war thread because of  the shit show. There are other threads to post thoughts on. I’ve been pretty vocal on my own thoughts on this topic. 😀 If informative videos on the topic are tiresome to you, dont watch them.

OK.  Apologies.   But maybe add some commentary to it - just a summary of the video and how it pertains to the topic and discussion.   You can't avoid some type of dialogue.
