I wasn’t a huge fan of Elon until he said that comment.. quote of the decade.

I don’t think he humiliated himself at all.

Except no online platform can exist without moderation, including his own platform, so that is BS logic.

It's like saying you want to run a government without laws because laws are repression. Okay, but that just means you don't understand what government is and you should not be running it.

The problem is that Musk does moderation to suit his own agenda.

YT has moderation and never in 10 years have I felt censored.

Every community needs rules for people to follow as a precondition for being part of that community. Even criminal gangs have rules.

Musk also said to Don “If a post was illegal, “we’re going to take it down”,, adding that if it did not break the law, “we’re putting our thumb on the scale or being censors”.

So yes there is moderation but the type of moderation a wet blanket like don lemon wants is extreme.

I'm not on X so i dont have personal experience with the platform.

Every community requires rules beyond what is strictly illegal.

You cannot dine at a restuarant barefoot.

For example: Kanye West was kicked off Twitter by Musk for posting a swastika. But swastikas are not illegal. Hence Musk is full of shit.

What Musk should be saying is: "We will do the bare minimum of moderation that we can get away with. That will be Twitter's philosophy."

That would be an acceptable and reasonable position for him to take. Musk is not framing his position properly, which leads to needless drama and outrage.

One of the only places i get food from is a very hip restaurant around the corner from me and she wants people to dine barefoot and in their PJs and she allows you to bring your dog in as well. 😀

Let’s take this place for instance, it’s a pretty long list of no nos before you join and i liked all of your rules, hence i joined. Yet once you are in its pretty relaxed in terms of moderation and said rules. And it works.

Anyone being outraged about x and its moderation needs to get a life.

It was well publicised too about x banning sayings like from the river to the sea. Fair enough. It’s hard to please everyone.

He doesn’t need to say that “we will do the bare minimum of moderation” , it’s obvious that’s the deal there. Don Lemon clearly agitated him, i thought he handled himself well considering.

The issue is that Musk lets his whims dictate the moderation of Twitter when it would be far better to have a consistent set of guidelines which is applied impartially by an independent panel of experts or judges. Musk should take himself out of the loop, but he's too egotistical to do that. He likes being the king of Twitter. But that's not good for the platform.

Only a huge ego would buy twitter in the first place. 😀

@Leo Gura I don't understand how Musk and conservatives view old Twitter as a censored platform, Twitter had very relaxed moderation. You needed to be a filthy asshole to be banned from Twitter.

I agree, especially when he proclaimed his position as a free speech absolutist he ultimately defeated himself in that interview. By saying that he sets himself for failure as any argumentation to justify free speech absolutism falls down quickly. How most people don't get that is bizarre.

The main problem is that Elon Musk did humiliate himself in this interview, by claiming he's a free speech absolutist. How do you argue and defend the free speech absolutist position???

I thought Don’s questions and calling out some of Elon’s hypocrisy was pretty solid?  It’s surface level type questions but all other reporters were scared to ask him things straight up.

Like, it’s way better than sitting there in a circlejerk interview like all his other interviews.

I do feel similarly that it was a decent yet biased interview, a little bit of trying to get a gotcha moment on Elon, but Don Lemon really should've nailed him on some points there. He had a good opportunity when Elon brought up legality, and Don bringing up those hate tropes and racist tweets, pinned him on the issue of time and how long tweets were there from when a user reported the post, to the process of moderation team reviewing the post, to deliberating, and finally the decision to take down the tweet or not, and grill him on why it took too long. He really should've nailed him on that CP examples of tweets, plus drug sourcing or suicidal types of tweets, as Elon Musk's bigger portion of viewers are right wing and conservative and this'll actually pressure Elon into a corner. Instead he hesitated and didn't pursue that more.

This guy is just flat out wrong, appeals to logic, and cherry picking sequences that made Don look bad. Also appealing to logic yet shoe horning his biases and anti left wing views with the appearance of being logical and analytical. To know and spot these fallacies compare it with another video that is mostly opposite biased and opposite ideology:

Each perspective and bias in these two videos, with their confirmation biases, cognitive dissonance, fallacies and appeals, and other developmental factors involved shows that the first video is clearly siding with Elon Musk while pretending to be an authority due to the logic and analysis bias. Even I as a body language analyst, also of tonality, verbal, discourse, and state analysis am careful when my own biases and ideology creeps in. These guys are mostly either unaware or know and being bad faith in their distortion of what is the truth.
