Yes! And feeling unsafe is deeply ingrained in the body, in the tensioning and contracting. Simply being VERY gentle in the whole body, relaxing the jaw, the forehead, the belly, the groin.... directly melts the feeling of solidity. "When the body is relaxed and balanced and has no tension, there are no boundaries. Boundaries are tensions in the body. The experience of boundaries goes along with tensions in the body. The body armor is the boundary. When the body is balanced, relaxed, there is no need for boundaries. So you could say that some self-realization can be done physically. In the end, self-realization is the completely relaxed body, nothing else. When the body is completely relaxed, it is a window to the universe." AH Almaas -

What you call eyes is a specific, separated part of the whole of experience. And to continue arguing further doesn't make sense because you are thinking in terms of separation and duality. There is no such thing. DROP YOUR BELIEFS ABOUT ANYTHING. They cloud your clarity that all that is is the same. You are speaking in relative terms, but your main argument is about an absolute, about the fundamental reality of "I". Not possible, you can try as much as you want. -

What are "your eyes"? Aren't they a perception that you call eyes? What does closing your eyes mean? There is a sensation that you label "closing my eyes", then a perception you call "lack of seeing" and then a mental interpretation of connecting all this. Of course, on a relative level, you are (also) an embodiment of your formless self. But ultimately, even that is an illusion. It's all just labels and thoughts. Drop all thought and you can't say anything about there being a body through which a something is perceiving. -

I'd recommend doing all of it daily. An example: Do 20 minutes of concentration on your heart to get it glowing, 20 minutes of looking at the one who is looking and then 20 minutes of just allowing everything to be as it is. And if you can, at some point, increase your meditation time. -

No, don't you see that this is a trick of the mind? Form is perceived, including what you call body, and what you call perceptions. Taking the correlation of perception and what you call body to be proof that you perceive with the body is simply a belief. Let it dissolve and see what's left. The body is in you, you are not in the body. -
peanutspathtotruth replied to WokeBloke's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Yes but this does not, in any way, conclude that form is all there is. Of course you are form. But there is also very clearly the formless, infinitely expansive existence. It is being itself as form, but it is also being itself as the formless. When all form comes to an end, when all change stops and comes to a halt, what is left? -
peanutspathtotruth replied to WokeBloke's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Hmmm no, it's perfectly clear that "I" is all there is right now. And clearly the body is not all there is right now. The body is just one energetic expression of that, along with everything else. -

No, the pointer is for beings who take themselves to be limited to a body or to thoughts. It says "You are neither of those, look at yourself, look at the actual beingness which is not a word." To be reminded of that and fall out of the mind is a very beautiful thing. At some point though, these pointers are unnecessary. And they can be misinterpreted. -

I agree, this is a very good point. But even saying the unchanging is changing is already too much. It's actually neither, both, and each of it at the same time. And even that is not true. It's simply not categorizable. -

You are taking experiences in the frame of physical reality and make a mental assessment of its properties. Within this specific frame, yeah sure you're right. But reality is not anything specific, you are not anything specific, and surely reality is not limited to any physical universe. Look at your consciousness and try to make the same examination. You can't. Mind is way out of its league here. -

Just recently (on my own) experienced an existential orgasm. The I seeing, tasting and feeling itself in an infinite feedback loop. Jesus Christ... -

In the world of form, yes. Truth is ever fresh, always morphing, always being born, always dying - right now. But ultimately, what IS that change? What is its ground? As was mentioned here, what is the light that sees itself changing? -

Why not? Isn't THAT a thought? -
peanutspathtotruth replied to PurpleTree's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@PurpleTree If there is no way you can avoid being in this situation, try to be humble. Don't think that you shouldn't be there. Maybe this is a lesson through which you can learn about why we are toxic to each other, why we are ignorant and suffering and projecting that onto others. See how hurt others are - and understand, if you can, that this is you. Try to understand yourself. And most importantly: Try to boldly stay open-hearted. If at all possible, stay in the knowledge that nothing is personal. Be bold and be loving, but don't go into situations that your heart doesn't feel safe in. -

How lovely to read this! I can relate so much. You tasted yourself and now you seem afraid that you might lose the spark, and you ask for the "how". You ask how to know yourself deeply. This is very, very beautiful. Know this. Forget about ego and all that: Just appreciate how beautiful it is that Truth is shining and wants to know itself. The clarity you seek is possible. Rumi calls it polishing the mirror of the heart. That's why so many teachers point to silence. When you are silent and your heart is full of love, there is this extremely precious and deliate pearl, a diamond of infinite beauty and clarity. This is you. But to see yourself clearly, you have to be very quiet, unmoving and in your heart. Of course, as you know, you can't plan enlightenment. But in a way, there's nothing else you can do. If it takes you to do all you can to reach self-knowledge just to eventually drop this illusion as well, then that is worth it. Better this way than falling back asleep. What I recommend to you: - Do your daily meditation, but don't limit it to two weeks. Start now and never stop. - There are several aspects of meditation you might want to dive into. First, you need focus to look at yourself. Otherwise, every wave of the mind will catch you offguard. You need to be steadfast and unwavering. Practice plain old concentration meditation. Then, do self inquiry. Actually look at what the isness of being is, the existing of existing, the very NOW of your being. What is it? Also practice simple observation. Be sure to be absolutely present to EVERYTHING that is. See your blind spots, what you are subconsciously trying not to look at. And then include that in your awareness as well. Don't touch anything. Just listen to your whole being. Now, I would say this is almost the most important part: Practice love. What that actually means is that you simply feel into your heart. Sometimes, it is the heart on the right (the spiritual heart) or just the whole area of your chest. As you would focus on your breath, focus on that area. If you need to, remember something that made you feel full of love. Then, you will see that there is this warm buzzing in your heart. Focus on that, radiate it into your whole being. Do that for a long time. Bathe in this love. It will swallow everything else. Really do this, and then let go of doing anything and give yourself fully to this love. This is surrender. The mind has no chance. - You can do psychedelics, they will help you understand how to practice, what your blindspots are, what healing you might need to go through. They might open doors that would otherwise remain shut. - To boost all that, take care of your body, your mind, your life. Be loving to yourself and others. Start embodying now, you don't need to be fully realized for that. Love as much as you can. Ask yourself what that means practically in your life. If you have any further questions, just ask. It's amazing to see you falling in love with yourself. Never let go of that flame in your heart <3 -

Maybe you don't get the pointer, and maybe others don't get it when they say it. But in its authentic germination, this is exactly what it points to. Argue about it as much as you want, won't change anything about Truth being itself, it doesn't care. Use whatever language you like, or be silent if you prefer that. -

God wants itself. Infinitely. It's so sexual how much you want to taste yourself, you can't get enough. Until you do, and then you just rest in yourself. Until you want to go deeper, and deeper and deeper. That's all that's happening here. There is no end to it. -

Create the community that you want to live in. That's something I'm personally working towards right now. But of course, you need people who are on the same page to begin with. So a first step would be to find these people who are devoted and grounded and willing to give themselves to a greater thing. Then, together, we can show the world how human beings can be together, what is possible. There might not be a single example of how great we can be out there. But probably there is, and we can learn from that -

Meaning no, function for self-recognition/self-love yes. Yes it can, just as a trip on ecstasy can. All that you experience is the divine tasting itself. The taste of orgasm in a spiritual, sexual context has the property of silencing the mind and opening the heart. You can physically embody unity as two bodies melting into a shared consciousness of the one Truth that is all that is. It just takes presence, love and devotion. -

You're asking if reason and meaning are creations of thought. They are. It's good to get that out of the way from the get go, this will make meditation much more authentic. Sit down, just be and periodically inquire: who or what is meditating? Who gets something out of this and what exactly is the treasure this who is looking for? Dissolve everything conceptual and melt into the realization that you are meditation itself. You don't meditate. The only "reason" for meditation would be the fact that reality likes to see itself clearly. To love itself fully. That's why when you're on this journey for a while, silence keeps calling. -

This. It's a bit like madness, imagining an enemy and constantly thinking about having to defeat it, while this itself keeps the incessant thinking going. An empty hand fighting itself. A dog without a tail chasing its tail. In my experience, only love of all that arises solves this paradox which is actually just a tricky illusion. -

Adyashanti has a book called "Resurrecting Jesus", and he says exactly what you've been thinking here - that it can be interpreted as the final ego death. "Why have you forsaken me" is Jesus' ego talking, and it feels abandoned and afraid. Of course it does.
