As I said, in the context of the jhana absorption states, access concentration is defined as "sufficient" concentration to enter the first jhana. You can recognize it when piti is arising and stabilizing in your body and you can switch your attention from your focus object to the piti for a stable amount of time (10-15 minutes) without the piti fading. So it's a definition relative to a teaching, it's not a fixed thing. It's there to help assess where you are with your concentration. If you want to study this, I recommend the book "Right Concentration" and/or "The Mind Illuminated". -
Yeah his distopyan ramblings can be a bit strange and prophetic, I agree. That doesn't take away from the amazing wisdom he shares though. Always be your own authority and you're safe to open to his (or anyone's) teachings - maybe pick older ones, before Corona started.

It does takes a LOT of practice. This term comes from the jhana teachings, which are absorption states of consciousness. Nobody will enter these states on day 1 You need a laser focus for that to happen. Some experienced meditators will say it's not that hard - yeah, as I said: keep practicing and you'll get there. From my own experience with many many meditators, no definitely not. And also, this is not the point of access concentration. -

I understand it as not being able to hold focus for long enough. And you're right, when your intention is authentic, it will come naturally. But it's important as @The0Self said, to be kind to oneself when drifting off. So "technique" does matter. -

Yep I can confirm, the GVG makes it a whole lot easier, sometimes even in one big hit as you said -
Jung is great to study for shadow work. There's a shadow work book on the booklist which takes a lot of Jung's insights and puts them into the context of the spiritual path. I also like Shunyamurti's understanding and take on Jung's ideas, he takes them beyond what Jung understood himself. He was certainly in contact with his true Self. This is amazing (check 7:45):

@Nahm Great post, I find it quite clarifying ?? This pendulum movement feels like awareness forgetting it's everything and frantically starting to panic, looking for itself, then forgetting even what it's looking for. After the "return", it truly feels like one was just dozing off, like a gentle amnesia. "Oh right, it's everywhere... OH right, it's all me anyway. How could I forget?" -
Leo's booklist has great books on the topic, some of them really helped me get some basics down. It's worth it!

All the other advice is great as well, but this one is the most important in my opinion. Learning to sit with horniness - there might be shame and guilt beneath that or any other form of emotion that makes you impulsive. Sit with that, ask yourself why you can't just NOT masturbate. What is the facet of the feeling that you want to "release", why can't you just let it flow over you. It's not easy at all, but it works

@Applegarden Respect for being so open about that! Can be very liberating psychologically No shame whatsoever!! @Rolo Listen to @LfcCharlie4 's advice, would have pointed at the same!

One of the best things I recently did is getting myself a Kindle and the Readwise app, and connecting the app to my Notion system. When I highlight something on my Kindle, the app automatically creates a sub-page for each book and saves all the highlights in my Notion (which is my "commonplace book" or life OS). When you come in later, it's much simpler to sort the highlights coherently. You can also add notes to the highlights directly on your Kindle. Also, the app gives you a daily review with your latest highlights, this repeated exposure to the ideas makes them stick better. I love this setup This is how it looks like, all automated:

You say your disillusionment comes from the IDEA, but what about your experience? Not even the most mundane experience can be deconstructed without referring to thoughts, which always come AFTER the experience, not to speak of direct consciousness of infinity or whatever you want to call it. Your practice sounds very solid, my feeling tells me you're trying to grock it all with your mind and are in your head most of the time. I recognize myself in that, so my two cents would be: maybe try forgetting all you read so far and focusing more on actually feeling your experience, most importantly feel into your body. Maybe you already do that, but if not, that might help guiding you. To me when I'm too stuck in my head and I "fall" into the heart and belly area, I understand that I was asking sincerely but looking from a certain perspective that would never satisfy the question. -
I agree, I tried it at some point and it worked really well. The cool thing about it is that you can keep lying ind bed , but when as soon as 1-2 rounds and you naturally want to get out of bed

This is the optimum I would say, to have a natural rhythm. But in my own experience I could never do that in 4 days. I meditated through so many nights because I tried to sleep early ? I think many people's sleeping rhythms are rather fucked up (mine most often is), and maybe yours is a bit more quick to adjust? Anyway, good advice These questions are really good too! My visualization is really weak but still I found visualizing to be much more profound than thinking. I visualize from first person perspective, works better for me than seeing myself from outside. Also, when it comes to productivity, visualizing the day when you start your day is also amazing. These two visualizations do a lot, I think I might put them back into my routine as well Let me know how it works out for you!

Ultimately I think we can't know until we actually do "merge back", when it's no longer an idea but actual. Leo has talked about Mahasamadhi, just as other sages have - which is, to merge into Infinity, you have to die. Mahasamadhi seems to be a free choice of leaving the body to not be bound to any form. It's a nice thought, but who knows. I definitely had a very similar experience to the one Leo talks about on 5-MeO, where it actually felt like I wanted to leave this body, and it also felt like one step further would mean voluntary death. But I didn't do it, so no idea But an amazing question for sure! -
All you're doing on this forum is telling people that they're wrong and that they're closed-minded, until they tell you you're of course right. You're offensive and you try to win arguments where the other side didn't ask for it. I told you I'm not interested to argue with you, just let it be. I've been here a few years and I've seen how it goes with you. I won't reply to you again, a normal conversation with you is not possible without hostility. Nobody is trying to hurt you. All the best.

Sorry, no interest in arguing with you about something that has nothing to do with what was originally said. Good day to you

That's why this work is no game, it's all in. You want to know yourself? Then you have to know everything, especially those darkest places. Have you ever done psychedelics? Do you meditate? Memories surfacing is a normal thing happening on that path, be it with or without psychedelics. Of course they can break through something that's kept repressed with all the force the subconscious can bring up. -
No that's what you're adding out of nowhere here, when I say silence I point towards an absence of something - and even that definition is again just a word, which is not what I mean. You just argue about it, I point to direct experience. Sorry but direct experience is more coherent than your insistence on everything being an ideology. No, that's not at all what I'm saying.
-
What you say makes sense but doesn't prove in the slightest that no ideology = an ideology. It's like saying when there is no apple here, that is still an apple being here, a no-apple. No. In silence, there is not even the idea of ideology or no ideology. It's actually pretty simple, I don't get the rambling to be honest. But no reason to argue, I was just curious what your reasoning is.

@DocWatts Good points, it's really important to see it in context with the whole system. Imagine the potential of turquoise when it's elevated by turquoise all around, embedded in society. And then imagine what levels of consciousness, understanding and creativity those few individuals have that go even further than the mass. It truly looks like there is no end in sight. Deeper and deeper into infinity and its creative powers. Well, let's talk again in a later life in 1000000 years or so ?

Why? Where do you get that logic from?
