You don't choose what you like or believe. You cannot choose to like chocolate, you like it or you don't. The mind does not choose anything. That is the deception. The mind explains what instinctively occurs in hindsight. Damage parts of the brain and a perfectly healthy eye can no longer see because the mind was not lying but interpreting. The ego lies. The mind interprets nervous system information. The nervous system is seeing the truth but the human experience does not require the majority of the information so the mind blocks out what is not needed to survive in a world of 7 billion people.

that's a metaphor you just want to argue
-
You're so sure on these things? You talk as if you have facts that pertain to everyone Maybe you have no point but why come here and convince all of us we need to kill ourselves too? Why come here and tell all of us our lives are meaningless suffering? You claim to be certain yet keep arguing that you know how meaningless we are. You are CERTAIN you are meaningless right? So why isn't the bullet in your brain yet?

@Source_Mystic that was a lovely and detailed response. Thanks

It exists if a master exists. If the greatest guitarist of all time truly is and always will be Jimi Hendrix then enlightenment does exist. But it only exists if you are vague.
-
Nice responses guys! I would now suggest uncertainty is the same thing as vagueness only viewed from a different angle. Uncertainty is clearly a more open and aware position to hold but it may not be the position a leader must hold. A leader must be boldly uncertain and unite the others with the ideal of uncertainty. So uncertainty must be as bold as vagueness, and what is more bold than someone claiming to know the truth in vagueness? "We must boldy go to where no man has gone before". We can unite in potential discovery, we cannot unite in vague meanings that are all understood on a different level.

You have no correct evaluation, you have an evaluation. At some point in your life you thought you were right but you were wrong. You don't want to be wrong about the one thing you cannot take back. You sound depressed and that depression seems to be making you consider the validity of killing yourself. It is that simple

We can only ever notice information our nervous system provides. Every thought is simply the nervous system acting on instinct and our minds noticing after the fact. No thought is yours, and all your influences are the outside world. Your nervous system simply react to everything else around it and does what it does. -

Have you heard this one? Some cultures believe there is only a certain amount of breaths or heart beats we all get in our life. All sorts of stresses can get your breathing and heart beating faster but all sorts of healthy activities can too. A healthy activity might be exercise or having sex, and then you relax afterwards and your heart is slower than usual. So the idea is to offset any heart racing activities with a slower heart rate afterwards, so exercise = slower heart beat overall = longer life. No exercise and then sudden heart racing events with no chance to bring the heart rate down = early death. Just some ancient oriental wisdom for you -
Everyone has a different idea what all these words like ego, mind, time, timeless, absolute, enlightened, god, logos etc actually mean Some people view law of attraction as a theory to ponder and some people think it means sit and wish to attract good things. Nobody in the latter is surprised when they fail to manifest their own reality when they try and attract good things, but as soon as one good thing comes along they pounce on it act like that was them making it happen. Some people would argue that is in fact the law of attraction - you can't have everything - and some would say that it is simply delusion. So people disagree with you sometimes because they actually have a different meaning to your meaning. The hardest ones for me are the positive people - so deluded - answering every question in some coy manner "but what is the truth?" or "you already are the truth". Those people think they are zen masters and even have adopted these stereotypical zen master traits without realizing how they come across. They would view my ego as a negative person wanting to suffer via their idea of the law of attraction. I don't agree with their interpretation and they don't agree with mine so a discussion is pointless

I believe absolutely everything except yourself is in control of your mind. Your mind is simply noticing things that have happened outside of you and giving you impulses. You didn't chose your favorite food, you were exposed to it via your culture and upbringing and now you have a preference, but it is not a taste you acquired via intention. You have no intention, you have impulses to do things and in hind sight you notice the impulse and make up an intention for you action, and then after that you create an ego based on your collective "fake" intentions. You're reading this now and only notice after the fact that you have retained the information. The actual important part, the retaining of the information, happens on its own and you can never claim to be responsible for it. Try and use you mind to stop breathing. Not your hands or taping closed your mouth, just try and not breath by willing it to happen. You can't, your body controls your mind and my actions influences yours. -

But what if in my reality I throw a pie in your face? Can you manifest a reality where I didn't throw a pie in your face? Seems like my reality is your reality and the pie's reality -
You want a job that exposes you to lots of people in short bursts, then you can slowly get over the introversion (which is not necessarily an issue, it's only an issue if it bothers you) Running away forever is another method but are you really asking us for running away advice?

Time is real for the building blocks of planets. Those planets form over billions of years, being molten hot and cooling and all the other processes that go into the creation of a planet. Time is real for a plant, they have different behavior at different times of the day. Time is real for an insect, a spider can lay a trap and that requires the instinctive concept of time. None of these examples are minds like ours. How can time be relevant to these mindless examples if time is an illusion of the human mind? So is the next step to remove everything that contradicts this? So say planets are illusions, animals are illusions, plants are illusions? Then I don't exist and you are not reading this right? right? -

Your belief in the truth does not make it true, the truth is true even if you don't believe in it. The law of attraction could very well be a fact that does not require belief. Someone who claims not to believe in the law of attractions is probably believing so from the negative side - they cannot use this law of attractions to help themselves. Ironically they end up believing no good could be attracted to them by not believing the good could come to them and then well.....no good comes to them edit: now that I think about it everyone believes in it, they believe it works or they believe it doesn't, those that believe it does see the results of their belief and the others see the results of their opposite belief. Both come true -
So this isn't specific to your exact results? As in any INTP pays the cash and gets the exact same pdf? That's easier to crack than old school floppy disks that had a button you pushed in that said copy protection on it . Thanks reading now!

if you were enlightened you would know the answer to the question already so we can say you are not enlightened and therefor this question is for another time not trying to mean, just logical

They are made of smaller stuff, and that smaller stuff is made up of smaller stuff, and we have not designed a strong enough lens to delve any deeper but once we do I'm sure we will find smaller stuff yet again. The ocean is used so often to symbolize the infinite consciousness and this lack of individual free will idea has been staring me in the face my whole life and I never got it. The ocean analogy is explaining this. No drop in the ocean has any control yet collectively it does. More movements this way and then the rest must follow. This has to be the rigid scientist take on the infinite right? I'm just explain cause an effect or something like that? Always we have noticed our reaction after the fact. Always. Every single philosophical query is simply a maths problem based around the fact that the chicken and the egg does not add up. From the forces that pull matter together to form planets to a slit test that always impossibly shows what we look for, free will is a collective force that makes certain existence is.

A hypothetical mother had a negative parent and was forced to learn an instrument she hated during childhood. She has her own child and decides to be positive parent and she decides not to enforce an activity like the musical instrument she herself hated learning. She decides this because she had a negative thought loop stuck in her head for years about these things and she felt like this negative thought loop influenced her actions. She felt her free will was compromised but meditation is the key, it shows her she is not her emotions and learns to apply positive thinking to change negative thoughts and escape compulsive behavior. She will never reprimand herself in her mind or ever let this negativity influence her because she is now free of influence. She meditated away her lack of free will right? Because she decided to need meditation of her own free will and not the influence of everything in the world except herself? There was no free will in any of this. The choices the mother's parents made came from the choices their parents made - they had their reasons for being critical and forcing that instrument on their child. Those parents had their reasons which are also completely out of their control, decisions going back into their parents, and their parents etc back to the very first atom. Free will only exists in the infinite reactions of the infinite. One drop in the ocean does not determine the course of the tides. The mother's child is no more able to decide than any one individual in the chain. Everything is simply a reaction of everything else, since atom 1. If there is free will then it is the free will of the universal consciousness. It is impossible for the individual to do any more than go with this flow, our impulses are simply that. And no we cannot meditate into the infinite, take a piece of this infinite out of the experience of the infinite and retain it in waking life. We can never truly make an individual decision as members of the human race.

An atom is the smallest constituent unit of ordinary matter that has the properties of a chemical element. Every solid, liquid, gas, and plasma is composed of neutral or ionized atoms. Atoms are very small; typical sizes are around 100 picometers Sorry I don't seem to be getting the point. My atoms do stuff when I'm doing stuff, seems to me they do the stuff and after the fact I examine what my atoms did.

You responded because I posted I have built this theory simply by reacting to all of you as you all react to all the stimuli around you. You could not have responded if I never began the topic. I am controlling you more than you are controlling me and vice versa. It's the chicken and the egg problem again only concerning free will. The nothingness idea of many seekers is the same thing. You need the facts of science to prove the nothingness theory, but then nothing exists so how could the verifiable facts exists in the first place. There always has to be something first and the whole "don't think about it" is meant to be ironic? the topic is flat out saying we cannot chose what to think. If there is no free will then I have no possibility of choosing to care or not.

We evolved with 2 eyes to process a 3d world. The line of reasoning most you use is that the facts you use to prove that nothing exists relies on the facts - that don't exist remember. So the answer to the equation is 42 even though the numbers don't exists. Or even the concept of numbers. Everything is one. How can you feel everything is one if everything is simply one? You need 2 as a metaphor to understand what one is. -
Action happens and then intention is an illusion that explains the actions. Your actions happen due to past experiences shaping your reality. In hindsight you are noticing these attachments. I bet that in a few months in hindsight you start to notice your actions have taken a more positive turn. Your discovery of your attachments will be as mysterious as the breaking free of these attachments. Maybe some big distraction will come up and you will fall off track but IMO your already on the way to dropping those attachments. Enlightenment chooses people is my belief, but I don't believe I had any say in the belief

Could simply be a panic attack with the added influence of distorted perceptions through weed. If you haven't smoked in a while and it's good weed you can really trip out, weed is a psychedelic after all. But maybe it's something more, drugs are said to bring forth genetic predispositions to mental disorders. Maybe you really have seen the "TRUTH" simply by smoking a drug and giggling, maybe you are just impatient. Impossible to say at this point.
