  1. @Outer@Geromekevin (accidentally put "@Outer" here) even though there are way too many variables and I don't understand enough about politics, imma make the guess that Trump won't win in 2020. @Outer you've asked what's Trump done wrong. Idk if you're referring to what he's done as a president or before that. Looking at some of the stuff Emerald posted (I only read most of it cuz I'm a slow reader and/or dyslexic), he seems to have been discriminatory towards black people buying homes and all these various happenings point towards him as being someone who will do just about anything for profit. He won't care if a few people are hurt in the process. Some of thing Emerald mentioned though seemed like meh/whatever to me though. When it came to him rejecting black people buying/renting apartments, I speculate that he probably would have done so because he had data which suggested that black people on average are less reliable with payments. Or this was conjecture on Trump's part. My speculation is based upon the presumption that Trump just wants to make money in this situation. His sexual harassment and groping shit doesn't make me like him either. All in all the picture I get of Trump is an overt manipulator who won't mind hurting people to get what he wants. From this, two things come to mind. On the one hand, so long as Trump's policies and legislative actions as president are good, his character and previous unethical stuff doesn't matter. I have no comment to make about how good a job he's done as president. On the other hand, the mere prescence of someone like Trump in the White House may cause racial friction in American society. Whether or not he does a good job, he's a dick. The fact that he brought up the idea of a Muslim ban spreads hatred and ignorance in a society. Even if Trump is power hungry, previous presidents probably were but they were just covert about it. Trump and previous presidents have probably been sexual predators. I can't remember any specific details at all, but if it is the case that Trump has consistently been degrading towards women and other minorities in his statements, then that ain't gonna have a positive impact on society. I don't know enough about Trumps actions as president to give an opinion of how a president he really is though, but he just seems like a dick to me. But you know, I was happy when I heard Trump got elected because I hated Hillary Clinton and Trump was the underdog. I almost always want the underdog to win. But I think that the me now would have reacted differently.
  2. This thread has SPIRALED (bud dum tiss) out of control and the OP didn't even explain the reasoning behind the point of view that Trump is leading USA up SD hierarchy as it is described in the book he read.
  3. Alan Watts: Three of my favourite lectures. If you've never listened to him, watch one one of the videos above. There's also this short little clip of Alan Watts in person:
  4. @How to be wise What information did the book give on how Trump is supposedly leading his country up the spiral?
  5. @Cortex logic doesn't work when you look at your present moment experience and ask "why does reality exist?". There is no answer to this question. It doesn't matter if you believe there is an infinite chain of causation, a circular chain of causation, an uncaused cause in the form of a deity. There's just existence. There is no why, it just is. Look at your present moment experience. There is all this stuff in your consciousness, but you don't know why it is there. Once you see past the illusion of past and future this is clear to see. There is just existence, and you don't know why it is there. Like if I try to switch on mindfulness, I'll be amazed at the fact that any of this exists at all.
  6. @NoSelfSelf Mate that's just false though. Who's the "we" you are referring to here? Loads of people's life purpose arise around the states of being and emotions they feel when doing what they love, regardless of other people. Self-ish life purposes can still have a positive impact on the community.e.g. People who play music might be like this, people who play sports, people who master their craft, people who keep exploring an academic domain. Success alone won't ever bring your happiness, regardless of what you do. Only being satisfied with the present moment would give you that. Regardless of what can be true for different people, you're saying that for you in particular you want your life purpose to have a positive impact on the community. Am I right in thinking that? I feel like I have very little info from which to give you advice. Other than that the fact that your life purpose would have the consequence of helping people/animals, what else would you want from a life purpose? Do you want to be a doctor? A charity worker? A vet? A therapist of some sort? Am I wrong in suggesting these medical based profession? I know that your question is actually asking about how to transcend orange but I'm concerned about how perceive yourself and how you perceive stage green. Like I've said previously, many people pursue self-ish life purposes which still have a positive impact on the community in some way (but they don't do it because it has a positive impact). Just because you grow yourself into someone who cares for other people, it doesn't mean that your life purpose has to be some people-orientated profession where you directly interact with them and help them. I know that for me, I don't give a fuck about whether I "contribute to the world". Imma just do what's get me into the flow of things (studying physics and solving problems), and that gets me happy. Any small contribution I make to the world would be a welcomed side consequence. Life long monks who aren't helping people are perfectly happy. They're just going with the flow of the present moment. And if the flow of the present moment leads you to wanting to help people then that's also great. All I'm trying to say is that whatever you do, you should have a life purpose that you enjoy the present moment process of irregardless of what that means to arbitrary standards. In terms of transcending orange the best advice I can give is this video: Watch the end of this video for tips how to transcend orange. If you meditate and your ego shrinks then you will go beyond orange and you will be beyond the need for advice for how to change yourself. I agree with @Brittany 100% here, just try small changes at a time.
  7. @NoSelfSelf @NoSelfSelf @NoSelfSelf Ignore this sentence and everything written above this sentence, using actualized.org on mobile is like being on 5 meo-dmt. How is solely being concerned for yourself preventing you from finding a life purpose? What trap would you be falling in if your life purpose only involved yourself? Many people have life purposes around mastery of something, and that is a selfish pursuit (I don't mean selfish in a negative sense. I mean it as in "self- ish" ). I feel like you haven't give enough info about what exactly your problems are. In what ways are too concerned about your own personal growth and in what ways are you not concerned about the community?
  8. @brugluiz do you feel anything happened to make you less empathetic? And what problems do you feel this has caused? I don't know if your psychosis is relevant to this point or not. Even if you are low in empathy, you can still experience many other emotions. One possibility in my mind is that if you look at your situation from a certain angle, your lack of empathy is not really at the core of your suffering. You could just be neurotic for multiple other reasons (psychosis, prolonged social isolation, no sense of purpose in life and etc). And if you're interested, this link gives a very good description for what being a sociopath means https://www.quora.com/What-exactly-is-the-definition-of-a-sociopath/answer/Corey-Reaux-Savonte-1
  9. @brugluiz I don't think you're a psychopath. Low empathy doesn't mean you're a psychopath, idk if you are a sociopath or not. I've read a fair number of comments and answers written by psychopaths and sociopaths on quora. When these people are answering questions online there's no incentive lie. There are many psychopaths and sociopaths on online forums who argue that the mainstream understanding of sociopaths and psychopaths (even amongst a few experts) is incorrect since this understanding revolves around the psychopaths that commit crime, when many do not. You sound like an anxious and depressed person who has repressed emotion rather than no emotion. Psychopaths experience very very little fear, remorse, anxiety and sadness. Psychopathy is something people are born with. Here's a copy and paste answer a psychopath gave to a person who asked "Can psychopaths feel sadness?". I'm going to put it in a quote box. This answer here is pretty informative about being a sociopath and psychopath https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-biggest-difference-between-a-psychopath-and-a-sociopath?no_redirect=1 I suppose telling you that you aren't a psychopath hasn't really fixed anything about your situation lol. So you say that you don't feel much emotion and empathy. I know that I have similar problems for myself. For me I realised that it doesn't matter what labels (autistic or sociopathic) I put on myself to explain why I feel the way I do, as I feel the labels are a distraction from taking the action needed (meditation, exercise and etc) to make yourself happy. I would ask you to inquire into why and how it is exactly that your lack of emotion/empathy is affecting your well being. What I feel I have discovered for my own life is that the problems I initially attributed to a lack of emotion/empathy were inappropriately diagnosed by me as problems caused by a lack of emotion/empathy. What was really happening was that I was just not connecting to the people around me on a temperamental level and so I felt insecure and like an outcast. Because I felt like an outcast my mind became neurotic in trying to figure out why I am an outcast. I resolved my social problems by just being myself and stopping trying to fit in. My suffering was caused by a clinging to a false ideal of what my relationships should be like and it was also caused by me being anxious and worried about how other people might perceive me as weird and shun me. And so if your situation is the same as mine, I advise that you just be yourself. And if people give you a bit of flak for it be careful to not let it effect your self esteem.
  10. My writing may be odd and incoherent because I'm typing whilst being in a state of anxiety and restlessness. Should I act upon my urges, or should I not act upon them and remain mindful. Basically, I'm going to find out my end of high school exam results in 3 hours (it's 5:08 am currently) and the grades will determine whether I enter university of not. The amount of stress that the whole schooling experience gave me has left an emotional scar which gets me feeling and thinking in ways which are very uncharacteristic of me. The network of situations and environments I have experienced in school have defined the negativity I have tried so desperately to get rid of through self improvement. When I'm feeling restless and anxious, with a hyper active mind, what should I do? Should I give in to my animalistic instinct? I feel like my head is going to explode with all the thoughts and feeling racing by. I feel like I'm going a bit crazy even. Holotropic breath work? Meditation? What should I do. On the other hand my natural instinct is to shrivel into a fetal position and remain lost in thought.
  11. @omTom @SgtPepper I like Peterson when he talks about psychology. After listening to Peterson a bit, I feel can read bible chapters and already figure out the message that Jordan Peterson would give from his interpretation. That's not an insult to him, its just observation. Over the last century, societal attitudes in the West towards religion have gotten worse. Thus society has gotten more secular and people are seeing the vacuosness social customs and traditions. From evolving out of blue and into orange, we now experience a new set of problems. For all the problems of religion, religion gave people a sense of community and structure in their lives which kept them happy. You knew where you were going. But now we have many young men who feel isolated, lazy, nihilistic and unmotivated in life. It is this problem that Jordan Peterson wishes to address this. However, I have a problem with how Jordan Peterson wishes to address this problem. His social/political message to people is that life is meaningful, and therefore you must take responsibility. He's saying that the premise that life is meaningful at the level of the individual will lead to fulfillment. He says that whilst nihilism is intellectually valid it will leave you miserable. A spiritual vacuum has been created with the abandonment of religion. Jordan Peterson essentially argues you can find meaning and fulfillment in life through pushing yourself to the limit in the pursuit for mastery/success in life. There is meaning in pursuing your art, meaning in facing your fears, meaning in raising your family and etc. When pushing yourself to the limit, you're at the border between "order and chaos" as he calls it. I semi-agree with him here. Finding something to immerse yourself in brings fulfillment. My critique of Jordan Peterson is that his message ignores how to solve core problem, and so his advice will not directly lead to people becoming truly self actualized at all. What I mean by this is that I don't think his message in isolation is effective at getting people motivated. The only real solution I see is for people to do meditation/yoga. Peterson neurotically clings to the existence of meaning, neurotically clings to the existence of good and evil. If people want to really develop themselves, they need to learn to accept the present moment for what it is. People need to embrace the nihilism and grow from it, not sweep it under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist. That being said, there is definitely value in what Jordan Peterson says in when he encourages people to find their craft and master it. Off the top of my head I can't articulate the exact details but Peterson spreads the idea that we must, in a subtle yet influential way, have a society that is embedded with religious and traditional values. I'm probably doing Peterson's opinion a disservice here, but he's essentially spreading high quality blue mixed in with orange. With the new problems we are facing, Peterson wishes to look backwards for the solution whilst I wish to look forwards. That's the way I see it. As a side note though, I enjoy listening to Peterson talk. I sense a unique and somewhat quirky style in the sentences he constructs. Peterson is right in saying that myths and stories certainly hold lessons worth thinking about.
  12. Bride Kidnapping as an accepted norm in Kyrgyzstan is a tradition which I haven't put an SD label on but I find interesting all the same. I'd say its probably a fusion of stage purple, blue and red. I found this documentary extremely disturbing lol. Even though this whole tradition is fucked up to begin with, I would look upon it more favourably if kidnapping was a ritualistic humorous gesture rather than an act of domination and submission. It would be better if this was something done between people who are deep into a romantic relationship already as a proposal. And even as a proposal, the woman should not be so heavily forced and should be allowed to leave quickly after being kidnapped. Should the woman or the family refuse they will be seen as dishonerable and will meet much opposition. Its such a slap in the face to human worth and freedom. As the tradition gradually becomes abolished, a large toning down of the tradition would great to see as well. People speak of raising the globe to stage green and yellow. Good luck with that shit when purple and red is still prevelant.
  13. @Recursoinominado I think that most of the things posted in this forum " make sense " but I still think that the majority of it is pointless. I think that for a newbie like myself there's only so much theory you can take in until additional theory is completely pointless. To be enlightened is to "see" the fact that you are far more than just your thoughts and bodily actions, you are literally everything. This realization requires consciousness work, not mental masturbation. I bet you that 99% of the people on this forum would benefit far more from spending their time meditating rather than spending their time asking questions and theorizing on a forum. I'm one of those people included. People ask these questions about death, purpose, nature of ego and consciousness and the only genuine answer is "who knows". Myself and many people here have probably realized that there aren't many questions to ask, it's just about paying attention to the present moment. If you want theory, just read a couple of non duality of books. The book of not knowing by peter ralston is amazing.
  14. @MarkusSweden you have asked "What's the easiest way to end mental masturbation?" yet your comment seems to suggest that you wish to continue willful clinging to mental masturbation because you will supposedly become depressed otherwise. You're probably only saying this because you already are depressed. Your question purports that you wish to end mental masturbation but this comment suggests the complete opposite. Which is it? No way of ending mental masturbation is going to be easy on your ego, btw. Why do you want to end mental masturbation? Is it to improve yourself and decrease suffering? If you asked this question with the belief that ending mental masturbation would decrease your suffering, then why you do now say that ending mental masturbation will increase your suffering? It's up to you whether you want to continue clinging to concepts or not but I get the impression that you may be being dishonest with yourself in regards to what you want since you've demonstrated cognitive dissonance. I was suggesting that you meditate so that "you" can come to see the nature of thought. You don't have to end watching theory. Just take it with a pinch of salt and focus your efforts into doing consciousness work, is my advice.
  15. @MarkusSweden close mouth and meditate. You'll realise that there is nothing that you know.
  16. @Rilles answering questions on this forum is always a funny one. If I was to go deep I'd say "Should and shouldn't is completely subjective" and so there is no right answer at all.
  17. @Time Traveler maybe it is unethical, maybe it is not unethical. Wherever your gut and "higher self" is guiding you just go for it, nothing else really matters. I suppose that the ethical standing of poker can be conceptualised as orange vs green ways of thinking. But both stances are equally subjective at the end of the day. I pretty much agree with ajasatya here. In an ideal world, people should be prepared to lose what they put up in poker and not let it effect them badly. But we all know that humans are not like that, they get addicted. I find playing poker to be occasionally fun, but I find it boring if it play it for too long and so I would question people who claim that poker gives them passion and meaning in life. Play poker for money if you want to, I personally think that you might want to do something in addiction to that to give you meaning.
  18. @DoubleYou good meme btw
  19. Leo doesn't owe you anything. It's up to Leo whether he uploads or doesn't upload. The videos are free on YouTube, irregardless of whatever other products you have purchased on this site. Nobody told you to waste time searching for Leo's video. It's not like you're paying a fee to view these videos.
  20. @Scholar I find discussing self actualization and enlightenment to mostly be pointless at this point. If you're gonna get a materlisit to stop clinging to their beliefs, you're going to have to take it to metaphysics and show that metaphysics is groundless and arbitrary. And when you get to metaphysics people are super defensive, metaphysics create an entire person's world view man. An ego will always protect its world view. AND LEO'S COMPLETELY RIGHT YOU'RE TALKING TO RANDOM ASS 15 YEAR OLD GAMERS ABOUT METAPHYSICS LMAO. I've talked to people on discord before, good luck meeting anyone open minded. Surely you can find some amusement in all of this, I know I do. I've tried doing the same sort of thing as you did. In order for people to "see truth" they have to experience it themselves and come to it themselves. Get out of your head and meditate is what I say.
  21. @Florian I think it would be better to say that the totality of all human life purposes has coincided with the survival of the human race and biological reproduction. There is no ultimate purpose to life, purpose is all subjective. Evolutionary speaking, the biggest claim I can make is that the presence of life purposes has not denied the survival of the human race. Many life purposes probably favor the survival of your race, perhaps some do not.
  22. A rec-room is simply a way of spending time, it's up to other people whether they get addicted to them and let it distract them too much. I know that for me personally it probably wouldn't be "counterproductive" cuz I wouldn't spend too much time there. I suppose Leo might look at things from a utilitarian point of view. If he thinks that a games section has overall has more downsides (people getting distracted) than upsides (chilling with people) then he would probably not want to do it and has not done it, probably for that reason.
  23. @Time Traveler you'd be better of reading about the experiment on other websites.
  24. Unfortunately you're probably not gonna find much interesting stuff here! Just me whining about technology addictions and also repeating the same points about non duality 1 million times lol.
