  1. @Serotoninluv Because my awareness is attached to the self and I have not yet experienced any proof that I am different from the self, although i do believe this to be true
  2. @Serotoninluv Well thats pretty much my definition too, Should I trust the character if he tells me that he accepts death? @Nahm I don't remember but when I get up from sleep it's kind of like my awareness just pops into existence, birth may have been similar
  3. @Nahm I am the awareness that is aware of my body, I was born I think when I first became aware
  4. @Serotoninluv What do you define an ego as?
  5. @Serotoninluv By good or bad I mean that it does or doesn't fight it's death @Nahm I'm not sure about this one, I am aware which makes me alive but i guess it also is a thought
  6. @Nahm I guess i don't but that doesn't change the fact that I perceive now and therefore I think i am alive
  7. @Nahm Because i can perceive things
  8. Does doing a deep breath meditation cancel the effects if you do it afterwards? I did a 20 min shamanic breathing session, felt really cool and had a few deep memories arise, but after i did my normal meditation which is deep breathing i felt like thee effects wore off
  9. @Nahm I can think this stuff but because I haven't experienced non duality I still perceive myself as separate. And I don't really know what you mean when you say 'For the ego to accept death, you’d have to be alive, and that is simply impossible'. Because I'm pretty convinced I'm alive whatever i may be
  10. @Azrael @Prabhaker I don't know what either of you mean @Joseph Maynor Fair enough I just thought it was my mind
  11. I have been meditating for 40 mins a day for around 4 months now but it's come to the point where it feels like more of an obligation rather than something I enjoy doing. I don't really do anything else besides sit cross legged on the floor and think about the implications of non duality, or relive memories of me as a kid. I think its good for my discipline but I also feel that I'm not really on the right path to enlightenment. Also do any of you experience pain in your back or legs after 20 - 30 mins of meditation? and if so what helps you cope with it?
  12. @OEN Well that's a massive relief that it wasn't a complete waste of time, I tried the do nothing technique but I will probably have to research it more because i don't think I'm doing it the right way as i still think about my thoughts. Is it still possible to get enlightened by using a various amount of different techniques or is it better just to pick one and stick with it?
  13. I haven't had a close relationship with anyone for around 4 years, not even my parents, I kind of just drifted away from people but now I'm trying to connect again. It's a hell of alot harder than when I was young, It just seems so awkward when people already have established lives and circles and friends, to enter into their circle and open yourself up to them. I'm fine making small talk with other people in my classes and stuff, but only talking about general things I can't seem to figure out how to develop closer relations then just a classmate. If any of you had this problem and overcame I would really appreciate any tips, also tips on solidifying your self esteem as not to fear being vulnerable to people.
  14. @Nahm So if I work on myself enough this problem will be solved?
  15. After watching Leo for a bit I have started to feel really strange, like an unrest inside my head. I feel as if I'm watching myself live but not actually alive myself! I was wondering if hearing about non duality made any of you feel this way either, and if so how you overcame it. I have been to see a therapist but they told me it might be something to do with Schizophrenia and tried to put me on medication.
  16. @Raphael Hey, I can't say that I can see anything wrong with what you do, but I used to have the same problem. It's probably better to not use screens altogether but if you are you should download this software called f.lux or redshift for linux. What it does is apply a red affect to the screen and this increases in intensity as it gets later in the day, are you on screens right before you start this bedtime ritual? if so i definitely recommend getting this software it's done miracles for me
  17. @abrakamowse Thanks man, I'm looking forward to the relief of being able to let my negative thoughts pass through me rather then attaching to me.
  18. @Nahm Thanks I'll check it out, yeah thats probably a good idea because I'm used to it
  19. @abrakamowse How long does it usually last?
  20. @Kisame Okay firstly thank you for giving really clear definitions of the two types, I mentioned earlier I had a really hard time practicing 'no mind' meditation which I guess would fall under the mindfulness category i'm assuming. But although it would be easier to keep with breathing meditation I will experiment with a form of mindfulness later today. And wow thats really inspiring that those guys are capable of that, But why would they choose to do those things? I get creating discipline and separation from sensations/ thoughts but even so they still have to feel the pain. And lastly do you recommend I change from sitting cross legged to something more difficult like a half lotus? or just wait until I can go a full hour cross legged.
  21. @Outer I feel better than normal but I still find it hard to capture the beauty of the outdoors, its all kind of blurry @Nahm Its true that I can't blame my feelings on Leos videos, but I think maybe I wasn't ready to hear such things that would change my perception on life. And actually It turns out I was meditating badly, I was feeding my monkey mind by just sitting there and thinking instead of using any techniques. I tried a breathing meditation a few minutes ago but I definitely need practice before I can experience a true feeling of myself like the one you are talking about. I do believe that your right that its my fault that I feel like this but It's not so easy to change, anyway thanks for helping and I guess at least now I can meditate properly and grow from there.
  22. @Leo Gura Thank you Leo, and will do. @blazed Okay I will try to do that next time I feel upset, I just tried a 30 min breathing meditation and I felt lighter after doing it, I hope that is a good sign because focusing on my breath is alot harder than just sitting there
