@OkaythenI understand there friend....As I said they are victims of there conditioning such a person lacks an understanding of the mind “thought”. This fear and insecurity is the result of this lack of self inquiry and self understanding. The fact is it is irresponsible either way. I know the preasures that come along with culture and conformity. That’s why we need to speak out and bring attention to an obvious problem in the world... I’m just stating the facts that I see so clearly. I’m not attacking this unconcious behavior. But it’s our responsibility to learn from it and put and an end to what we see as dangerous. This is intelligence. Unconcious behavior is given continuity by society, culture, and the conditioning that has been handed down through the ages. The more we show how immoral our morals are the more conscious behavior will blossom. like I said I’m not attacking anyone. I’m just expressing what is all so clear and what is actually happening. “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” Jk

Reason without understanding of the mind and it’s conditioning is the problem. Reason is deceiving without inquiry into thought and understanding of the structure of the ego. The intellect is a tool. If we don’t read the manuel on that tool comes self deception, ignorance, contradiction, and hypocrisy. Truth is perception/ insight.

Such a man in action implies fear and insecurity
-
An emotionally intelligent human being wouldn’t rationalize such violence by any means. Only victims of conditioning that lack an understanding in themselves commit such vile acts. To claim responsibility for your country, ethnicity, beliefs, and ideological preferences over the human race as a whole is an act of total irresponsibility.

That’s not emotionaly intelligent

Ego/thought implies isolation To see this fact with your whole being brings its own action, and in that action illumination ignites a passage out of that darkness and into the light. ? ??

Real Discipline is only when will is not. It doesn’t suppress, or does fear influence it in anyway. “It is not discipline first and then freedom; freedom is at the very beginning, not at the end.” Jk

I don’t know it’s hard to say with our limits of conscious attention, and the fact that my 2 year old is trying to eat everything he sees lol....... but lets give it a try..... To me the now is dynamic, active, alive, therefore this would imply that the now is constantly changing. Constantly anew. A continuous movement with intervals of change that fall out and that blend back into one another or interchange. This idea that the now doesn’t change seems a like point of view that is influenced through a perspective of thought projected as an abstraction. This seems to be due to thoughts limited field of reference. If the now didn’t change that would imply it was static, frozen, dead. “No man ever steps in the same river twice" H. Anyone else have a interesting point of view? -

Faceless replied to Phill's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@PhillThought as Mechanical.....We remeber the feeling we got from a particular pleasure say the pleasure of a drug of some kind. There’s the contact, sensation, feeling which is enjoyed...but then thought sets in and says “I like this” and records that as a memory. Then when the feeling subsides thought/memory/knowledge of that experience returns and says I want it again. This is pleasure. A mechanical process. Concentration vs attention and the religious mind .......There’s mediation as in trying to control the mind to be quiet. This is a form of concentration. A movment by will, a movment by the ego which is thought. But this action of concentration is an attempt to escape or suppress thoughts from arising. How can the “u” which is thought but thinks it’s phill suppress thoughts? Phill is a fragment of thought. But he doesn’t know it. When you say I want to suppress and quiet a certain thought a division is created between the thought and the entity you call phill. But there is only the thoughts. Do you see this ? Who’s suppressing? Who’s controlling? To control or suppress is to change “what is”, unwanted thoughts, with an idea “I” a thought that will control these thoughts. U see its escaping what is actually happening because it brings anxiety, stresss, pain, sorrow, and so on. So if we escape these facts “happenings” we never face them and learn about the whole process in which they are born and die. Again in concentration and control to suppress unwanted future thoughts it’s like being afraid to make mistakes and not participating because of the risk and therefore never learning. This type of meditation is to self sooth. If your doing it because you feel it’s good for you of course. If you just enjoy it that’s a different story....To have a religious mind means to have a scrupulous and conscientious mind. To be very careful in how the mind is moving from moment to moment throughout the day. Allowing, observing objectively, being aware without any motive or intention other than to watch. Because the fact is there’s nothing “you” can do anyhow. The “you” is a fragment of thought that thinks it has control over other thoughts. If this is the case and u see the that as a fact why bother? Becoming........And as for becoming, “you” the center is always in a state of becoming. It’s always trying to fulfill a particular desire to bring about a sense of security, safety, or validation. Thought in the psychological realm depends on time “as in i want to be better and I will practice until I reach my goal in the future.” The problem with this is you are not accepting”what is now” and you are saying that time will solve your problem. U see the I am not better idea now is a thought, self created image, conclusion held according to a reaction you have had or have because of perhaps what another has told you, your conditioning, circumstances, past experiences that you accepted or set as an expectation. The center which always has fear in the background is always in a state of becoming. It wants to be happy, not sad. It wants to be validated, not ignored. It wants to achieve, and until it does it is miserable. It wants and nothing else is more important. It obsesses and suffers until it goes insane. Becoming in meditation.........As for concentrated meditation, there’s a constant movement to achieve this goal. You become stressed out because you feel you are not doing well, or that maybe you are doing it all wrong. It’s a constant battle with yourself who if you look close enough is nothing but a series of images that constitute the entity you call phill. I don’t want to keep jabbering on. I feel like maybe I have already spoiled this most excellent pathless journey for you already. I could go on and on. But if you care enough you will see this all on your own. Try and find one who can act as a mirror to yourself to guide you along. To help you learn the art of inquiry. How to ask important questions. To have the capacity to live with a sense of order and have a mind that can be rational, logical, reasonable, and a mind that is sensitive, sharp, and quiet. If someone else can do this so can you. Psychological division only exsists within the realm of thought. See this fact my friend. The rest is yours to explore. This is the art of life?? -

Organic, alive, yes, seems obvious to me personally But I would also assume the reason one would think there was Will is because it’s similar to the way we “thought” perceives. It kinda reminds me of the god made man in his image myth. Where actually it’s safe to say we made god in ours. There’s a pic of the brain cells and universe photo similarity somewhere on the web that makes that thought pop up when I see it. Rather cool movie plot I must say?? -
If you see somthing as dangerous stay away this is an intelligent response

Informational lecture on who you are??? Do we need information from someone else to know who we are or who we are not?? Talk about an unnecessary middle man Its ok though if you think you do so be it ?? -
What gives continuity to depression is thought ?? ? ?

@Shin ...and psychological time is given continuity by thought Thought within the realm of the psyche is not necessary. It’s actully the root of all psychological problems. ??

Life is a movement of itself. Only thought gives rise to meaning, significance, value, and purpose. -

@Phill ...what’s the first thing that you didn’t understand? Maybe we can go through it step by step. I’m guessing the first confusion was on behalf of the mechanical part. Is this right? -
Faceless replied to Dino D's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Free will is based off the idea that you are an individual. That you have the freedom of choice. But do “you” have freedom to choose? And look closely at this, are you free if you feel you have to choose. To choose implies confusion. And are “you” really free? Is thought yours, or is thought influenced by past experience in accordance to the knowledge passed down in your culture? Again are your thoughts “yours” ?? And also this cause and effect is an abstraction created by the mind. It’s how thought breaks down events in order to sequence and seperaete instances and events in a line of time. As far as determinism goes, the wake doesn’t drive the ship anymore the tail wags the dog. Some things to think about. If one hasn’t yet of course. -

All this sorrow manifests from the center. Learn about the center. In that action of learning you become free from it. This is liberation my friend. It’s the most difficult, important, and necessary thing “we” can do. And most important man.. just stop worrying so much. Who is the entity that is worried anyway? -
Hmm doesn’t sound like my cup of tea. Success, ambition, imitation of patterns. Success has been drilled into our culture for so long. I will not get caught in that rat race personaly. To me success is the ability to live without contradiction in my everyday life. Which means no imitation, no sacrificing success for time, and no conformity to any patterns of ambition, strife, and movments in becoming. If one lives a life free of conflict in conforming to a pattern and lives true to there deep rooted motives and intentions this “success” will manifest from that order. To me doing what you love and NOT letting thought “fear” set in and convince you it’s not going to lead to success is success. To remain genuine in your motive. The only success I seek is to live a life free of disorder. And appreciate every minute of life that “i” get. This is my take. Seems like you are making a good choice taking time off. Listening to that inner voice is important even if we sometimes don’t necessarily like what it has to say. Like I said to live an orderly life everything will fall in its right place. Dont think to much act Do what u feel is right friend ??
