@Bogdan much love

thought the same but probably right if you consider what he shares from his health
-
Yeah, right this weekend I had a cheat because I ate well for months and even cut red win a month ago. Sometimes you got to go back two step to go on, but most often that's only an excuse to go back.. Like anything you gotta find your personal balance For example I need to be cautious not to sneak nasty behavior in the next sprint of eating super clean ^^

I comprehend merely what others already said: 1. we have a double selections bias. a. people who care about health - ask yourself: why do they care? more likely than not because their health is bad, then they fix it but still face often problems and die earlier b. warren buffet has good health and seems to eat bad - ask yourself: what the probability of that happening? it's very low, but here we have selected the statistical outlier. therefore it seems to be foolish to not eat better, as the ones who do often seem weak. see? that's why every educated person should have a grasp of statistics and how to interpret something like that. we here are good, but I bet there is a significant number out there thinking 'not that bad, warren b. does as well' will munching down their daily fries and by the way it can be the case that his children have worse health as this literally destroys the dna.. read deep nutrion for reference.. it's not all gold but it has a big kernel of truth 2. It's likely that it's not true that he eats that bad

@Nahm As opposed to denial. Take people for what they are at the time. Some people don't move (as I or maybe you as well define it) 'forward' and that's their choice. Who knows? Maybe we are too obsessive in some aspects of our life and I claim that every average Joe has at least some habits which we can learn from
-
Well, @Nahm replied: This is true, judging people or be angry that they can't give you what you need is not useful to get what your want (orange thinking), for them (green thinking) or the community in general as this thinking spreads (yellow thinking). The next step is however to unpack what to do next. Sometimes it seem that @Nahm advocates acceptance of what is. Nahm, maybe you can clarify my assumption. However acceptance does NOT mean in my opinion that you like their behavior and continue to hang out. Here an example from my life: I have for example old friends friends I seldomly see any more. WHY? They are functional addicts, who consume a lot of cigarettes, alcohol and weed and what else you have. Of course they are in low conscious trapped. If I continue to hang out with them their behavior swaps over to me. Guaranteed. But then I will not reach my Life Purpose. So I talked with them and because they don't really care to change their ways I stopped to hand out. It broke my heart, but I tried to help some of them for 10 years and nothings happens. Now I look for a new circle. There is a prospect who is a theologian who makes his doctorate and is already a entrepreneur in the field I want to go in: E-Learning. Then I will interview an 60 year old IT-Department Leader and Autodidact for my podcast. Another friends of mine is a banker, who schemes towards financial freedom and is in the beginning to get spiritual... @Flint , you seem to really want to meet like minded people. I get it, but have some patience and reform yourself and over time you'll get less needy and you will acquire knowledge of human nature. You have to consider that you are the odd one out, the lucky one to get to this information in the forum. Yeah and also try to be not cocky or arrogant about it, but it is what it is

Chapeau! We have to ask: What is IQ? I'm not a trained Psychologist, but from what I know IQ is a Quotient, where 100 is defined as average. This is the assumed distribution: ... you see that 2/3 are between 85 and 115, which is called one standard deviation in statistics, here 100 +- 15. The two third are your regular people, most people you interact with. The people below have real problems surviving on their own as their are seriously disadvantaged or even considered mentally disable. Then we have above average with relatively more of achievers. Questions Is IQ unimportant? Largely yes, if you are at 100 or more. Below it's a serious disadvantage. The result can hintto the borders of your capability. Why is a below average IQ Person at a disadvantage? They learn slower, are not able to think quick enough and lack maybe even the mental capacity to grasp some things no matter how hard and long you try. Math can be an example. In a more and more complex world it's not that much fun to be born not clever. Back in the day they could in the US or in the West in general just work in a factory and be well of. That 'work hard, do what you are told' jobs disappear and new jobs emerge there people have to know more and more. Being a programmer or consultant is an example; I sometimes forget in my company that the distribution there is not the norm. What can I do if I have a relatively low IQ? Educate yourself, develope good methods (like @Lews Therin wrote) and be aware that some things might get more work for you than for others Is the IQ the dominant determinant of my life? No, there are uncountable factors. But if you have an 80 that's a serious problem you cannot ignore. On the flip side has an IQ of 115 or more problems and traps as well. These People tend to get lazy because they can coast by at school and THEN sometimes have problems in basics of survival like working even in basic jobs because they are smarter than everyone else. These are the type of people you met after they got a new job and they tell you 1h or so how stupid their new boss is and that a bunch of things are not well set up at the company - of course not getting the point that they are shooting themselves in the foot. Maybe that's then a lack of EQ or just modesty? IDK. My point is: Some things that can count more than a high IQ. The above average IQ person often does not want to see that these are important: EQ, hierarchy, education, work ethic, even luck... And of course you can improve all of these, even luck can be in a sense cultivated^^

Hey, I like your idea about the 'lower stress course', can you give us a overview? I'm helping two novice programmers at my company, I donate money, I put myself together and support my GF with healthy food (actually she loves Leo's Soup for those who know the recipe )

@Carl-Richard Whatever, Richie. If it's good for you, I'm fine with it and wish you the best -
^ News aren't really beneficial to my or YOUR life. I guess that ain't 'News' to you (lol), but I still want to repeat it here once again: Stop watching News. I'm doing this right now. Why? The Information in the news is per definition superficial, pessimistic and not in any way useful. It's a waste of time. See the link at the bottom for more info. Background As a highly political and sociological interested person I watched since I was a teenager news. I read magazines, news paper, website and what else have we - across the board. I thought that's what you need to do to be 'well informed', ha, how wrong I was. The general trend however was that I watched less and less of it and after a peak after early 2020 (guess why that was - hmmmm^^) I now decided to stop entirely for a month and then deciding that to do. Why? It won't help me with my life purpose, even worse watching the News is more negative than everything else. I know this now for some years, but failed to give this the proper attention. Now I wanna change it. What's better? Does that mean I don't care for the worlds anymore? Hell, no. News are not caring or doing something, 99,9% is just consuming passively negative and useless Information. What do I do instead? Switch to deeper sources like textbooks, scientific article or documentaries Talk to fellow humans about things that we find important, not the lates this or that (that is forgotten tomorrow anyway) Meditation listen to Music Writing on my own stuff Practicing my Rap skills ... there is much to do By the way here is an article by the writer Rolf Dobelli exactly on this topic, which you should read: https://www.gwern.net/docs/culture/2010-dobelli.pdf

@Rishabh R SD is complex, it's not that you are definitely at one Stage. You can be on several stages depending on your lines of development. This is not exact sciences, it is more a tool to indicate where you are and what to do next. Watch all the Videos and take notes.. I watched all of them a couple of times which means alone for the video I spend hundreds of hours listening to leo.. not to mention reading books, contemplating it and try to put it into action Some things to consider: - We have all some orange parts as this is the 'normal' Stage for western civilization - higher Stages equals NOT to more healthiness, happiness or even success - it is likely that you have something to learn from the lesser stages, if you are roughly at green then most likely from red, Yellow is more special because it tries to learn from all stages... not a thing that is necessarily high valued in everyday life

@Carl-Richard if you want to discuss further we can't go further without defining more precise what 'watching news' or 'watching time' is and is not. Other than that we remain on a superficial level without any relevance -
@Bob Seeker Well, that's a start. If you continue to search for meaning in everyday live things will get better.

It's not that there is not useful information; the problem are the negative side effects and the sheer amount of bad news you have to dig through. Here is a story for you all. A super rare story of me benefiting from the news. Covid-19. In late 2019 little Supreme was new in his programming gig. I read some books about what to do in a crisis. The advice was to watch the news and to prepare. OK! Then some new about a 'chinese virus' came up, that was late 2019. That was something! Watched closely, prepared - even had a pep talk with my family that they should stock some extra groceries. ...Then every unfolded and - I was right! A fucking pandemic. I told my father right to his face: "Do you still think I'm bugging a little bit with with covid virus?" That was a huge pay off, haha. Happy end. Really? Was to know that 2 months ahead useful? Hm. I would have heard it a month later anyway but still early enough. If one is permanently prepared for some things you don't have to rush to the supermarket last minute. What was the main outcome? A New-Media addiction in the worst time a develop one, because it was right once^^ @Jodistrict word! "Plus, whenever you start feeling too much negative emotions and thinking daily from the news, switch that off until you are settled down." That simple advice is worth a lot if done consequently. I noticed I did this in the past and was more calm. yeah youtube is a beast in itself. I would count scrolling mindlessly youtube also a category like news-media and in fact often there is news media posted between original videos -

exactly, most likely a follow up to something that was irrelevant in the first place if you ask me from decade long experience -
supremeyingyang replied to supremeyingyang's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
the real questions remain: 1. what does 'keep up with the world' mean? 2. depending on the answer to 1: is that really desirable ? 3. are there side effects from 'watching the news' that are not there if I calmly 'watch the time'? 4. Is watching 'the time' desirable? I guess it's not important what I do as the effects are the same: a. Watch the Time => keep up with the world b. Watch the News => keep up with the world and it's the desired goal to keep up with the world, then I can watch the time instead of the news and still be good -
@Bogdan save money and then move as you seem to like it. when you are unsure, it's best to experiment into several directions to make money: - live music - youtube - side hustles experiment a lot; these are difficult times and these bring always the opportunity for change eh and if it does not work you can drive back to your mom;) but if it does not work I would estimate it's better to get a certified education in something... makes life easier

@Carl-Richard Can't decide if that's profound, a joke or trivial. Please tell me immediately^^ -

@Preety_India@Husseinisdoingfine well, that's the neat thing: If something really interesting happens you guys on the forum will report (or whoever I meet on that day). Actually you @Husseinisdoingfine are one of the most dedicated news filterer on the forum, so no wonder you say this because it would contradict all you post. That don't mean it's wrong, to me it's just a distraction which don't mean I revert back to ignorance^^ thank you for putting me in a sentence with Em, I stopped making records at age 18 or so. Nowadays I rap just to train my voice, calm my mind or to get pumped up. I re-rap lyrics like Nas 'I can': "If the truth is told, the youth can grow They learn to survive until they gain control Nobody says you have to be gangstas, hoes Read more, learn more, change the globe" or MF Grimm 'Return to Eden' "watch what you do, babies look up to you they dress like you, your style they mock one time you where true, what got into you? I don't know but it decreased you stock I'm not a stranger to war, been there before on this planet I've done a lot" and KRS One 'The Invaders' is also great.. "How then, can they talk of some border When they are the invaders? How then, can they reform immigration When they invaded their neighbor?" to quote as a few... never fails to inspire me... puts me always in the right mood and gives me energy.. contrast that with what news gives me... distraction, passiveness and pessimism -
@Bob Seeker I can be wrong, but this mood of yours seems like a period of Nihilism, which - if that is true - is a blessing in disguise. To me it's an Indicator of you coming to a great opportunity to grow. The Problem is that you are unmotivated, because you can't find sense. What now? You have to find meaning. Of course you know that already, kind of. So there to start? Do you know the great great work of Victor Frankl? He survived (as a psychotherapist) the Holocaust, meaning he was brought to Auschwitz. This was arguably one of the darkest places ever. However, It was also in Auschwitz there he developed the core of his teaching called Logotherapy. He claimed that's is possible to find (or create) meaning to endure even the worst circumstances and to emerge unbroken. "The following list of tenets represents basic principles of logotherapy: Life has meaning under all circumstances, even the most miserable ones. Our main motivation for living is our will to find meaning in life. We have freedom to find meaning in what we do, and what we experience, or at least in the stance we take when faced with a situation of unchangeable suffering." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logotherapy There are many good works out, but I liked this when I needed it and I remember that you are a Psychologist (even who critiques call Logotherapy a philosophy and not a science)

@Javfly33 sounds good; in which field do you work as a programmer? I work as a developer for a consultancy, so I'm interested in that stuff. if your english is good you could apply virtually anywhere and thus earn more

@Javfly33 lol, that sucks. I would recommend to bite the bullet and save another half year or so and move to the city after you get more money. Isn't the city so interesting under covid anyway?
