Did WWII cause the emergence of stage green in the world or was it due to the subsequent prosperity? Would stage green never have appeared without WWII? -

@Roy Let's look at actual real world examples: why are scandinavian countries consistently more green than the rest of the world? Not because of crisis. -

@Meta-Man This man is speaking the truth. I've been dying many times, and it's no joke. It feels like you're going to disappear forever and never come back. -
I was socially anxious for as long as I could remember, probably peaking around 14 years old. I would never initiate a conversation with anybody else than my 4-6 closest friends in high school. I started smoking weed heavily at 17 years old, and expanded my circle of friends. I was getting better at talking to people, but I was still very neurotic. During my final year of high school, my normal life almost fell apart (skipping class, isolating myself etc.), and I was forced to stop smoking weed. Even after that, my longest break was around a month. Around the same time by pure luck, I discovered the concept of mindfulness. Then came spring vacation and I was "forced" to not smoke weed for a week, and I decided to practice active mindfulness during the entire week. After that week, I decided to try to meditate with eyes closed while sitting, and during my second serious attempt, my mind became very quiet, and I entered a state where it felt like I was dissolving. I quickly got up and stopped the meditation, because it was scary and I had no idea what was happening. The day after, my mind was extremely quiet, and I was going to take a physics test, and I had no fear or anxiety at all. I was super focused the entire test and did better than ever before. I had no desire for smoking weed for a full month, because I was just meditating for hours and hours, trying to hit that sweet point again. My memory is very foggy, but I can't really remember ever feeling socially anxious after that experience, atleast not the same way as before. I believe it was caused by the reduction of the amount of negative self-talk from having a mystical experience. Fast forward 4 years, my social anxiety is virtually non-existent, but I'm still relatively quiet, mainly because I don't have many thoughts running through my mind. To say that meditation changed my life is an understatement. If I didn't find Leo's channel, I have no idea where I would be today.

I believe a crisis like this leads to a net decrease in developmental stages. Progress from orange into green comes exactly from that abundance created by orange: the shift is a result of growth, not stagnation. -

Let me put it like this: sometimes less is more. A stable practice that gives good results doesn't have to be complicated. -

Will I ever learn to trust myself? -
I've had DPDR from weed many times before, and IMO it's quantitatively different from an enlightenment experience. DPDR from weed feels like you've put on a helmet. Enlightenment experience feels like a helmet has been taken off.

@caelanb It's just a model, but it's a good one. All models are limited but useful. Spiral Dynamics covers a wide range of developmental stages: everything from native tribes to Star-Trek-esque civilizations. The fact that it isn't taught in university says more about education than Spiral Dynamics. Also, society at large (atleast the developed world) is mainly blue-orange, sometimes a little green. You wouldn't expect Spiral Dynamics (a stage yellow framework) to be talked about much in a stage orange society. You can only make an assumption of where you are on the model, and of course you can trick yourself if you don't have a good understanding of it. It's also not black-or-white: you can have different aspects of yourself in different stages etc. I suggest doing some research (Leo's videos are excellent) before trying to make up your mind. -

@caelanb Idk man. The video about paradigms was one of the first of Leo's videos I watched and it was the most interesting thing I had ever come across at that time. This was 3-4 years ago just before I started meditating, and I was very much established in stage green (smoked a lot of weed haha), but I was still heavily attached to the dogmas of stage orange, and it really spoke to the intuitions and doubts I had for many years. Where would you personally place yourself in the Spiral Dynamics model? -
I once had the insight that a twitch chat is like a human supercomputer, like a semi-AI. Of course it depends on the quality of the viewers haha. Also not to go too Terrence McKenna on you, but I believe Twitch is one of the first signs that we're entering an age of global hyper-interconnectivity and information flow, which will be the launching point of the stage yellow era. I also believe there is merit to your idea about Leo establishing himself on twitch (although maybe not now with his current pursuits). Afterall, HealthyGamerGG, the spiritually inclined psychiatrist, only just started out and has had extreme success, even teaching meditation on stream.

If you're having problems reconciling your materialistic beliefs with these new insights, I recommend watching the video "Understanding How Paradigms Work". It's really integral in breaking free from materialistic dogma, and it's arguably the one video that has had the biggest impact on me opening my mind. Even though it takes a very critical look on things like science, it doesn't mean science is stupid or useless, but it's just recontextualized. Stick with your meditation habit, don't be afraid to sit longer if you feel like it. -

If you're innately curious about the nature of reality and value truth above anything else, you'll land in non-duality sooner or later. Meditation helps, self-inquiry helps, psychedelics help. -

Sadhguru also thinks many gurus aren't awake. It doesn't matter. As long as you resonate with their teachings, it can help you to grow. -

You're not a finite thing. You're not bound by time, you're not bound by a body, you're not bound by anything. The feeling of "I am" is the feeling of being aware, which is just the feeling of "being". This is the essence of self-inquiry: trying to become familiar with the sense of "I am". Whether the brain is created by consciousness or the other way around is really secondary to this practice. When the recognition of "I am" settles within you, the answer for your question will be realized. -
I know, it's a debate on Twitch, but bear with me. It's very civil, and I think it's a cool example: 54:26-57:26 The guy talking (the moderator a.k.a Destiny) tries to introduce the debaters to tier 2 stage yellow spiral dynamics thinking, and then MindWaves retaliates with tier 1 stage orange thinking (discarding the opponent a.k.a Pxie's tier 1 stage green framework), because that is the primary character trait of the stages in tier 1: they adamantly discard all other frameworks, both higher and lower stages. It's very apparent when MindWaves at 57:11 says: "Sure, I guess- ...yeah, so I have no interest in working within your framework, because I think you're wrong" *chuckle*

No scientist can every claim that they've experienced anything in reality outside their own consciousness. This doesn't mean that their personal slice of consciousness is the only thing that exist, but what it does mean is that everything is an appearance in consciousness. The neurons firing in the brain is an idea, and an idea is an appearance in consciousness. If you were to look at your own neurons firing, then that is still an appearance in consciousness. When a person gets their brain removed, stops moving and is unable to talk, that is also an appearance in consciousness. Try to find a moment where whatever you interpret to be "objective physical reality" is actually arising separately from consciousness. -
Carl-Richard replied to caelanb's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Time is change. Change happens in the present moment. Consciousness creates the brain, not vice versa. You're not a brain, a body or a soul. You're not confined to a finite part of reality. You're all of it. You are God. Consciousness is not physical. Reality is not physical. Reality is "appearance without substance": there is no "first cause" in any causal link. -
