I think I've prayed to God like two times in my life when I was like 10 years old. I was asking if I could get a girlfriend, and it worked lol. I probably started to react negatively to Christianity when I was around 15 (watching The Amazing Atheist, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Hitchens etc.). That probably peaked at 18 years old, and then I became more pluralistic and less materialistic. I did have my confirmation in a Christian church, but it was primarily a boring experience more than anything else, except one time when they had a talk where they separated the guys from the girls and tried to turn us off from masturbating to porn. The dude who was talking about it felt kinda insincere and we were all offended by the message.

Has anybody here studied psychology and asked their developmental psychology professors about SD? I don't have the courage to do it

My friends gasped in terror when I rated Jordan Peterson a 7/10 after I was asked to do so (expecting a solid 10/10). That is about the level of openness you can expect from most people. I haven't introduced them to SD explicitly, but they get confused when I try to talk about ideas that go into green or post-green relativism.

People don't like it when you push something on them. It makes you feel needy and clingy. Only mention it if it arises naturally in a conversation. That way you can slowly introduce them to it over many conservations if they're interested. Don't expect some random person to be interested in SD.

Well, that would be answered in the debate, but of course JP backed away. JP likes to conflate the totalitarianism of the Soviet Union with the Nazis, and on top of that conflate those two with the democratic socialists of today. That is the level of analysis JP engages in, so of course he won't have a debate about it. It makes for good entertainment, the audience likes it, but it's just dismissive pseudo-intellectualism.

@Identity What is worryisome about Randall Carlson is how his beef with geological gradualism and the scientific mainstream informs his views on climate change. Essentially, he is saying that in the end, human impact doesn't matter because catastrophism is a thing. He might say he agrees with the sentiment of environmentalists, but he clearly gives off the wrong signals on the matter.
