@asifarahim In my experience, it's never either/or. There is always a directing function that pushes you through the pain (discipline), nourished by intrinsic motivation (passion/love). Improper practice is when this relationship gets out of balance. Too much discipline but little passion will corrupt your soul, but too little discipline and a lot of passion can lead to a lack of structure and a squandering of your potential. Proper practice incorporates proper discipline which streamlines your passion towards optimal growth.

Deliberate practice isn't Stage Orange. That is way too simplistic. Practice has existed for all of human history. Even if it was, no stage is inherently bad, only when done in excess or in an unhealthy way. That applies to practice as well. I meditated 1k hours over the course of 3 years and it changed me forever. It works. Show me any spiritual teacher who didn't do any practice. The question isn't "if" you should practice but how to do it properly.

Dr. K (creator of healthygamer.gg) wanted to become a monk because he thought it would be easier than becoming a doctor. All the monks there had PhDs in STEM, and they told him that enlightenment is harder than getting a PhD. In other words, enlightenment gets easier when you adopt the mindset of voluntarily taking on responsibility for something bigger than yourself. This is because the avoidance of responsibility comes from selfishness. What may initially look like selfishness (pursuing a career, money, status) is actually a necessary step for giving yourself over to something greater, which in the end is God. The monk doesn't live a simple life in order to avoid responsibilities. It's to avoid distractions. In my opinion, being a courageous, mature and emotionally integrated person is the true goal of spirituality, because true selflessness comes from facing all of the parts of yourself that you're afraid look at.

Hahaha reminds me of all my childhood injuries. One time when I was 6, I rode my bike down a steep hill, clenched the front brake too hard and did a frontflip over the steering wheel and landed on my ass. Somehow I didn't get hurt ? Around the same time, I fell down some steps outside and hit my head on a rock. Got knocked out cold, woke up and touched my head and my hand was instantly covered on blood. Had to get stitches and I have a decent scar which is being slowly uncovered by my receding hairline ? A little later I had a severe concussion from skiing where I lost control and failed a huge jump. That was the type of knockout where I was sent into a sparkly, dark void with an oscillating, metallic "boOoOoOing" sound for a couple of seconds. Another mini concussion from running down a hill, stumbling and smashing my forehead on the asphalt (a tiny scar from that). Another time I feel off my bike again and broke my wrist. I got one dose of Pfizer two weeks ago so we'll see

I once entertained this way of thinking a couple of years ago, but over time I realized a core issue: is my decision coming from a place of fear and convenience or a place of passion and responsibility? What is holding you back from being a resourceful, courageous, noble and dutiful person; from being a source of inspiration, from partaking in the betterment of your family, your local community, your society and the world; from unfolding yourself to your fullest potential?

@Kalo The diagnostic criteria of psychotic disorders like bipolar depression type 1 and schizophrenia are qualitatively different from non-dual awakening (the core characteristic of mystical experiences). A person with bipolar and schizophrenia are both capable of having mystical experiences, just like non-bipolar and non-schizophrenic people are capable of it. You can also argue that the prevalence of mystical experiences is higher in people with psychotic disorders, but the symptoms of each disorder are not endemic to the mystical experience. For example, a core feature of bipolar depression is elevated mood (mania) and following periods of depressions. Schizophrenia has a list of negative symptoms (e.g. flattened affect) and positive symptoms (e.g. hearing voices). You're not certain to encounter these symptoms in a mystical experience unless you're in fact psychotic. Another way to look at it is that psychosis is a disorder of the mind (and the body too in a sense). Non-dual awakening goes beyond the body and mind. A psychotic person and a non-psychotic person have different minds – different ways of thinking, speaking and perceiving, but both are capable of stepping outside the mind (the relative) and experience The Absolute. You can interview people on this forum who've experienced non-duality, and you should expect that the vast majority do not qualify for a diagnosis of a psychotic illness.

And who's to say that each new mutant isn't significantly more harmful than anything else we've seen before (by an order of magnitude)? Sure, if we look at monofyletic (?) mutants (not recombinants), one would expect a more or less linear relationship between the characteristics of related strains, but surely that is also just a question about probability. Are there any well-established facts about the potential phenotypic diversity from one generation to the next (parent to mutant)?

Be more specific. He seems sincere to me, but it's a pretty crazy story ngl. Might be an interesting pitch to a body language expert.
