You can drop them at some point, but then you have to truly see their insignificance at a deep level. I don't believe there is such a thing as dropping something before you reach that point. Before that, you can only delude yourself that you've dropped it, but in reality you're dragging it behind you and letting it wear you down. You should rather pick it up and carry it with pride until you see the finish line. And before that happens, it's possible to carry both ideals and desires at the same time. You just need to balance them.

26 (13 fear + 13 avoidance). I would've probably scored 60+ a few years ago.

He literally said to me while dying of laughter: "I literally became a window, and I had this peculiar feeling that "today is the day where windows are to be sold!'"". You can't make this shit up ?

This is good that you're becoming aware of your desires, but there is no reason to hate them, even though they're not obviously in alignment with your higher values. In a sense, becoming more conscious is about becoming more aware of yourself and ultimately being OK with who you are. That doesn't mean you can't have aspirations or future plans, or growth or change. Those are also aspects of yourself that you should accept if you want to become more conscious. This to me seems like a sign of growth, and growth isn't always a linear upward trajectory. Growth sometimes entails coming to terms with something you've been neglecting and having to re-adjust course, and it can look like a loss in the short-term, but it will ultimately be a win in the long-term.

My friend tried Salvia and woke up in an alternate reality where he became a window on sale.

The way you put it in the title seemed like you were reducing consciousness to the quantum field, which is not necessarily the same as saying they're the same thing (as one could be more fundamental than the other). But I could understand why you would like to say they're the same thing. -
It's not getting much engagement, so I figured I would ask some of you guys (and by the way, it's my very first post on there, so trust me, I've yet to be completely swallowed by the Destiny cult, I swear! ).

The quantum field is that which's excitations are physical particles. Consciousness is that which's excitations are experiences. What is a physical particle but an experience in a physicists mind? -
My dude, this is the entertainment section of the forum. You don't go here to get enlightened. Besides, this hyper-puritan mentality isn't good for anyone. Don't get too caught up in the personalities and focus on the issues that are being discussed.

I know. It was just oddly specific

Having a grandiose self-image or low levels of empathy doesn't necessarily mean your primary values are strength, loyalty, respect, courage, etc. For example, I think MrGirl (a once relevant internet personality) is a good example of somebody who is pretty narcissistic but also has Green-Yellow values (or at least proports to have them, or is at least able to engage with them cognitively). But the thing about especially narcissists is that they're very good at manipulating people around them to serve their selfish needs, so they can construct a mask of being a highly virtuous person with an advanced set of values, which in reality is masking their real low level values. So you can argue there is some overlap with lower value systems, but narcissism and sociopathy are of course much more nefarious than merely being simpleminded.

Yesterday on one of my evening walks, I felt like doing something weird. I usually walk for 5 minutes in one direction around the neighborhood and then walk the same way back, equaling a 10 minute walk. This time on the 5 minute point, I landed on the top of a hill viewing a house on a mountain in the far distance. I felt kind of groggy that day, so I think I wanted a way to feel better, but I ended up doing a tiny meditation-like thing where I tried to stand as still as possible while focusing on the house, almost as if I wasn't really there and I was just a transparent camera of awareness. I did that for like 10 seconds, and if somebody had walked from around the corner or peeked through a window, that would've looked really weird. Regardless, only from doing that for 10 seconds, my vision became so much clearer and my mood improved significantly, and the walk home was great. -

The last half of this perfomance is one of the best live rock perfomances I've ever seen. The writer of the song jokingly called it their first "pop rock" song, and it's unironically such a good song, and they really nailed it here: 2:22

I had an idea for a book last year when I started having insights about the relationships between health, fulfillment, happiness, meaning and being, but then I discovered that these ideas have been known for millennia (e.g. "eudaimonia"). I did end up touching on some of it in a very limited fashion in my bachelor thesis though ("what is the relationship between mindfulness, physical activity and intrinsic motivation?"), which was of course a rather dry quantitative research approach rather than an authentically inspired literary approach, but it was interesting nonetheless, and I learned that there are growing areas of scientific research exploring these questions as well. I hope to explore some of these topics in the future, whether it will be adding to existing scientific research or writing a book.

I remember I had trouble pronouncing some select words when I was like 3-4 years old, and I thought I had a speech impediment, but then I noticed I was in fact overly "enunciate" (if that is a word) in my early teen years compared to my peers, but then I became sloppy again when I became a stoner in my late teens, and then I became somewhat better in my early twenties during my spiritual awakenings, and now it's bad again -

Carl-Richard replied to Javfly33's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
30 000 - 50 000 years ago, we ate from the tree of knowledge and became self-aware (self-aware as in "I'm aware that I'm this but, not that; a form of duality). Language is likewise just a tool for saying "this is this, but not that"; which again is a form of duality. So self-awareness and language work in tandem to make you believe that there is something that is "not this", i.e. the very definition of delusion ? -

Giving apes language was the greatest sin made by God -
You work with what you got. It could always be worse. 1000 years ago, you had to suck up to some feudal lord while working as a serf.

I used to think I wanted enlightenment and that it would be cool and awesome, but in reality, from the perspective of the ego that thinks it wants enlightenment, it's terrifying and insane. The price for transcending your mind is nothing short of losing your mind. The price for transcending your life is nothing short of losing your life. My current "spiritual lifestyle" is trying to get to that point of being able to accept all that, to where the ego sees no alternative. The result will be the end of suffering, and merely existing in a selfless, timeless, doingless, knowingless state. Every time I've approached that state, it feels like I'm approaching a black hole. I have no idea what is truly on the other side, but from what I can feel when it's tugging on my body, and from feeling like time and space is collapsing, and from what I can imagine when I stare down the endless dark abyss, it's absolutely divine. -

I'm accepting more and more that people will use whatever pointers they want, and even though some pointers absolutely suck and are constantly misunderstood in my opinion, most pointers kinda do suck and are constantly misunderstood. That is the case no matter how enlightened the messenger is, and in a space like this where all kinds of people can inhabit the role as a teacher, these things are inevitable. I don't often give this advice (because it's obvious), but if you want the truth, go discover it for yourself. In spirituality, forums like these are best used as practical advice and social support as a means to that end. If you like listening to people talk about awakening, actually listen to somebody speak in audio and preferably video format, even better face to face. The words are only a fraction of the communication. -
