  1. Thats a question from the materialistic paradigm, you are implying consciousness is a property of an organism, or a developed AI (lets call it a robot) and that the mind and sense perceptions are "ways" of knowing. A more closer to truth statement would be that consciousness HAS an organism or a robot. But even that is incorrect, as it personificates consciousness. Really there is ONLY consciousness, the supreme self, as you said. There are no boundaries to make the distinction of something having something and something being had by something. To say that rocks, trees or people HAVE consciousness, is called panpsychism. Science has not yet accepted this view as a whole. From their paradigm, scientist can legitimately ask the question you just asked, but even in that paradigm lies a problem: how can you tell true self consciousness from an intelligent imitation of consciousnes? What kind of a test would you come up with? Interview is just talking and talk is just that: talk. AI can talk about self consciousness all day without truly having it. But yeah more importantly, my first point. Check out the movie: Ex machina
  2. Next up: hyperventilating on the floor and putting toad drugs up your ass. This community: full of normal people.
  3. This, no matter how much liquid 5-MeO you have swirling around in you butt. What is the nature of consciousness after "death" if it is not being manifested trough that organism? Maybe pic related?? (joking... )
  4. Congratz! Beware, there might be an ego backlash lurking around the corner
  5. @Dream @DreamBe carefull of what you are doing there. To me that sounds like a huge conspiracy-like obsession about @Leo Gura and his work, drawing deluded conclusions and interpretations about words and their meaning. If you really are making a documentary about that, which I doubt, do share it here. I would gladly watch it, but as I said, I suspect your house is full of used tinfoil tubes.
  6. In purist terms, the ego does not exist so asking for example, what is it or how does it comes about, is delusion. But if this fact is not in your direct consciousness, you must admit that and give the apparent reality to it, so that you can go on a fools quest to "kill" it, in order to realize that there is nothing to kill. If this was not the case, everyone would be naturally enlightened in dualistic terms.
  7. Does is matter what the distraction is, or how big it is? Big distraction = many small distractions (like making this thread and reading the little comments) . Your whole life is mostly a distraction anyway. Also, what Leo said above
  8. @okulele cerainly, the question is supposed to be a gentle push into a certain direction. Ask yourself: "am I aware?" and see where your attention goes. Only answer your mental questions verbally if you feel a need to.
  9. (in the tv series) Hannibal Lecter seems like such a well mannered, well spoken and timely gentleman! So calm and grounded, I dont understand all the hate on that guy, just listen how he speaks about art and philosophy... Yeah theres more to a man than how he appears to be. Also this.
  10. You are implying free will and existence of a tangible thing called "an ego". From the POV of ego, all action is ego based, but in actuality all action is just action, no meaning or purpose. Cause, action and reason exist only in the mind, and the mind is ultimately unreal. But I get your point. How indeed, can one quit playing the game by playing the "quit the game" - game? One cant. My strategy is to play along the game untill I realize that I cant lose or win, and at that point the game is revealed not to exist. One thing you can do, is beat that particular horse to the death so much that you eventually have to admit your problem does not really exist in your direct experience, only in your conceptual mind.
  11. I feel like you are mixing up what "mind", "consciousness" and "state (of mind)" are or what those words point to. I recommend reading/listening some Rubert Spira if that is the case.
  12. Yes, as you are quite young. Psychedelics are nothing to mess with, that I can tell from first hand experience. Especially acid, I find that if you have deep rooted pet beliefs and theories, acid might actually reinforce them instead of deconstruct, and that's trouble because if your experience of the world is this, but your theory of it (which is entirely in your mind) is that, and they do not match and you don't have enough awareness to see it early enough and that is a potential downward spiral from there. Ofc that's just my experience but yeah, an advice.
  13. @Rilles feel you man. I have been thinkin about my own death pretty often for some time now, and somehow Im convinced I WILL die because of some horrible, agonizing accident/disease. The human body is so amazing, running so many things simultaneously and always failing and recovering with 0 awareness or input by "you". Random thought I was discussing a few days ago with someone: Imagine if you went to a bunch of engineers and told them "Heyy, could you design and build a robot that is like 60% fluid, can perform all the physical and athletic tasks that a human can, and it must be able to gather resources from its surroundings in order to build a clone of itself inside itself, that then grows once its ready and it must be able to do the same things it parent is capable of?" Those requirements are bafflingly ridiculous alone, but they were just a few from the endless amount of functions your body does by itself. Respect your body, it's way beyond just being a temple, because a temple is a pretty straight forward structure.
  14. @Leo Gura a proper chakra video is long overdue
  15. Never have read a better book that is just 100 pages. It's very very worth reading.
  16. ...to a such and extent that I honestly cant enjoy regular life the same way anymore. This idea of the true self used to be liberating but It's now turning to a huge obsession and It's stressing me out so much. Seeking seeking seeking, thinking thinking thinking. Meditation does not do it for me anymore, I cant find lasting peace from that or anything else really. Can't relax, can't take a break... I have heard all the teachings, I know all the techniques, seek/don't seek, concentrate/just be. This will potentially drive me to some kind of depression if I don't find a way to reconcile. I'm just tired but seemingly not tired enough, as the strain has not broken me yet. Anyone feel the same?
  17. @Angelo John Gage absolutely but still, why dont i get it, eventhough i know that. Makes you wonder...
  18. Yes, I understand that @Angelo John Gage as I have once awakened before, as I said. Words are clumsy.
  19. @Nahm Yeah, pretty much that. Well, getting a little tired wont kill me i guess. It's just another trap, but a bit trickier than your regular misunderstanding related traps and such. Well, my tiredness IS a misunderstanding but yeah
  20. Funny you brought that up @Nahm . I did wake up a few months ago for about 30 minutes with the aid of shroom tea, didn't even trip too hard at the time. But yeah, I fell back asleep. I have a deepened sense of how things are and how the illusion comes about. But the truth is not in my direct experinece NOW, so Im left with no choise but to seek or ignore. Both hurt.
  21. @Rilles I feel Im not ready for that yet. I respect the substance enough to trust my instinct.
  22. @Leo Gura yes, but we can still talk about the phenomena of death, and that is a mystery even after enlightenment.
