  1. I enjoyed this book. Some of the sections were pretty repetitive, but I feel like I learned some great new things
  2. 1. Increases your energy Step into a cold shower at 6am and guess what will happen—you will wake up from your seven-hour coma. You will suddenly feel alert. This surge of energy will last once you get out of the shower and you will be ready to take whatever the day throws at you. There’s also a hypothesis that cold showers can help treat fatigue and chronic fatigue. 2. You’ll look better Sorry, it won’t fix the way your face looks, but it will help your skin and hair. Hot showers dry your skin and hair by opening your pores and hair cuticles. Opening your pores and hair cuticles increases the risk for acne and other blemishes. Keeping your hair cuticles closed may strengthen the bond to your head, preventing hair loss. Cold showers will prevent your cuticles and pores from opening as well as maintain some of the good natural oils your body produces. 3. Boosts immune system Cold showers immediately tell the body’s immune system to get to work. Constant exposure to this type of environment will cause the body to adapt, resulting in higher level of antibodies. Fights depression “Exposure to cold is known to activate the sympathetic nervous system and increase the blood level of beta-endorphin and noradrenaline and to increase synaptic release of nor-adrenaline in the brain as well. Additionally, due to the high density of cold receptors in the skin, a cold shower is expected to send an overwhelming amount of electrical impulses from peripheral nerve endings to the brain, which could result in an anti-depressive effect.” Source: US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health 5. Fat loss When your body is cold, it has to process more energy to keep you warm. This means it has to burn more fat than normal. Your body will also make good use of a “good fat” called brown fat. The cold temperature can activate the brown fat which will activate our metabolism and burn calories. Source: WebMD Source: Joslin Diabetes Center 6. Sex Throw away those testosterone pills. Taking a cold shower is a natural way to increase your testosterone levels. They’re also good for your little soldiers. Hot water is detrimental for sperm count so if breeding is on your horizon then improve your chances of reproduction by turning down the hot water knob. Source: Midwest Men’s Clinic 7. Improve circulation Healthy blood circulation is good for your organs and cardiovascular health. Cold temperatures causes blood to move to your organs and extremities to keep them warm, aiding in good blood circulation. Hot water has the opposite impact by moving the blood towards the surface of your skin. 8. Lower stress levels Do you get anxious or stressed easily? If so, being exposed to cold temperatures may reduce your cortisol levels to keep you calm when shit hits the fan. Source: US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health 9. Aids in muscle recovery There’s a reason why athletes take ice baths after a game or training session. The cold temperature helps their muscles recover after taking a beating. I’m not LeBron James nor Tom Brady so I’ll settle for the cold shower. Source:US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health 10. Mental toughness I would say this is one of the biggest health benefits of cold showers. Waking up to a cold shower is one of the most daunting things you can do. In fact, there’s a chance it will be the toughest thing you’ll do all day. Pushing through this will help you push through other challenging tasks thrown at you. I assure you that sales call will not taunt you like that steam-less stream of running water. If anything, once you take that cold shower, you’ll be waiting to crush that sales call.
  3. 1.Put yourself in uncomfortable situations/take risks — see how you handle it. 2.Try something new — you will learn what you do and don't like. 3.Think about impactful events in your life — how has that shaped you? 4.Travel to a new, unfamiliar place alone — how do you cope with the new environment (are you more to yourself? Scared? Curious? Making friends instantly?) 5.Make a list of things that you think uniquely defines you. Ask friends and family about what they think defines you — any common trends? Anything you find surprising? I learned the most about myself when I moved far away from family and friends for work and school. I had to cope with a new environment, being comfortable being alone, and finding what made me happy each day. Your opinion interests me.
  4. First of all what is fear? Our human brain has developed a definition of fear throughout the time of evolution. It is FEAR = Forgot Eeverything And Run. Or , FEAR=Face Everything And Rise. So basically if you want to overcome any problem first of all stop running away from it. instead embrace it. if you want to overcome fear just do the things you fear most and fake that you are enjoying it. eventually as you see yourself overcoming fear, you'll start enjoying too! Just fake it till you make it! What is your opinion ?
  5. Alan Watts is such an OG -- love his style and how he shares his wisdom
  6. The only book by Ouspensky that I've read, so far.
  7. Why do we do what we do? We would like to think that our mind is in control of things, but it's not. Duhigg explains why. The science behind this is fascinating!
  8. I'm always pleasantly surprised with the quality of the "Dummies" books...
  9. Short Answer : Well, I can say the best is to remove all possible distractions in your mind, and concentrate on studies!
  10. When I start to research on a topic, I see the previous work-done on the concept as well as current trends of research in the same area. After that I epitomize all the reviews and come to a conclusion and decide a topic which can be worked on. Then I see my topic’s relevance, the most important thing is, I evaluate that my research must be capable of to do something good for the society and the people which are associated with that research. Then onwards, I make some calculation and analytical design on paper to check the concepts feasibility. Once it can be percept that what I am thinking or what I am intending to propose it can be done. Then I go for its simulation in various CAD platform, I keep on modifying boundry conditions and data untill I Come to a concrete solution. Aftermath, I draft the detailed abstract and submit it to various journals. Once they accept it they will ask for my detailed paper as per the template, which they will provide. I submit the paper and it will lead to publication. This is the process, in a nutshell, that I follow to practice proper research.
  11. Probably something very intriguing which makes you ask this! How about sharing that dream too! To answer your question, I’ld say, It depends! It depends when you dream. If this is a during your deep sleep and your unconscious mind is weaving thoughts of no use and of no world, it may probably not be true. But, mind it, our human mind is very powerful and if it is equipped with self-believe, confidence and positivity, it will dare to dreams of something, which may seems difficult and impossible, but thats what you’ll work for all your life to make it a reality. Trust me bud, you will make these dreams real. And i hope people will not limit this dream of reality to - Success, money or fame. These dreams can be anything - making your parents happy, social service, helping people in education, travelling all around the world OR spreading love and happiness in the world and making it a better place to live in harmony. Dream your passion and make it real! Cheers!
  12. So you deliver your news with honesty and as much kindness as you can, and remain optimistic.... and try to cover it with another good news... i think this can help a lot.
  13. I loved how this novel was full of great advice and solid examples. I didn't feel like I was being told how to do something by someone who didn't have legitimate facts backing them up. The way it is written is extremely easy to follow and gives you a step by step process. The flow was a bit convoluted at times due to the fact that some ideas are repeated because they do come into play at different times in the process, but other than that it is a solid read.

  15. It is true you only get out of life what you put in. I refer to your thoughts and your mindset. We are a product of how we use our mind. Anthony Robbins is teaching that in this book. If you want a get rich book I would not consider buying or reading this book. This book will make you rich but rich in mind, body, spirit and material wealth will follow if that is your desire. Anthony does not proclaim to may you materially rich by using his techniques. What he is doing is showing you the power of your mind and how you can use it to enjoy your life and live it the way you want to. So ignore the critics if you are looking to change your life in any way. Learn the power of your thoughts and how you can live each day to the fullest. I was bitter and angry this morning and on reading a section from Anthony's book on the train to work I put the techniques to work and I now feel great. It is that simple. We are what we think! I have read this book 3 times so far. I think it is an important part of assisting in taking control of your own personal world.
  16. The One Step to Finding Your Purpose : It’s simply this: learn to get outside your personal bubble. Your personal bubble is the small world you live in (we all have one), where you are the center of the universe. You are concerned with your well-being, with not wanting to look bad, with succeeding in life, with your personal pleasure (good food, good music, good sex, etc.).
  17. The Kaizen Way to deal with problems is to start with very simple steps that are very easy to accomplish and continuously improve in simple increments. This is especially applicable when the problems to be solved appear so daunting that we try to avoid taking any action at all. The author gives many examples where Kaizen way has helped individuals, organizations and societies solve seemingly difficult problems. The advice offered by the author is very simple and practical. This is applicable in any area like health, work, relationship etc. I have certainly gained some knowledge on how to approach overcoming some bothersome weaknesses at work and life. In situations where a drastic change is difficult or not practical, the principles discussed in this book come very handy.
  18. Ultimately, I think success comes down to having a career you enjoy and care about, people in your life you love and care about, and some personal time where you can explore new personal hobbies or activities. Success is about creating a healthy balance in your life where you are happy and still challenging yourself in different ways. How Do You Define Success?
  19. There is a very thin line between success and ego. Does success build ego? What is success? What is ego? Success is ego given substance. Ego determines whether one is ready to taste the success and sustain it or not. Most of us conceal our egos and practice humility. However, certain people, who do not do so, and let their ego thrive, are driven by an innate belief in themselves to achieve what they believe in. The major drawback remains that while chasing our success with the ego, we end up ignoring the fact that we might be heading towards a wrong direction. And people who check on us are conveniently shooed away. There's no guarantee of success, rather a chance of a failure in such a scenario. Thus, according to me, in order to achieve success, one must leverage on one's talent, empathy, skill, and humility. And most importantly, let confidence be the ego with character. That way, the confidence from ego shall prosper with success.
  20. No one has attained Enlightenment through Zen nor meditation in human history. Buddha himself never claimed he was enlightened through meditation.
  21. This is a Rare philosophy centred book full of very practical advices.
  22. I completely loved this book! It has opened my mind into new dimensions.
