Yea, I gave her to much credit. Compared to Trump, an average monster comes out looking fairly decent. -

Vaush is wrong. Genetics most certainly influences brain function. Genes produce proteins necessary for neuronal structure and function. Yet that is influenced by environment. If someone is exposed to childhood trauma, that will effect the expression of genes that the person inherited. Yet it's also too simple to say someone inherited narcissism from their parent. What we call narcissism is a complex genetic trait influenced by the environment. It would be like saying someone inherited alcoholism from a parent. There is a genetic component, yet there are many genes involved and the environment plays a role as well. If dad has alcoholism, abused his kid and teaches his kid to drink his problems away - there is very good chance that kid will become and alcoholic based on the combination of genetics and environment. With Trump's case, I'd speculate it's more environmental. If he was adopted at birth and raised by peace-loving hippies - he would have turned out very different. -

And Melania would finally be free. . . -

Could Pence even get on the ballot a couple weeks before the election. Could Republicans say "A vote for Trump is a vote for Pence, since the VP takes over in the event of death?". I don't think it's ever happened in the U.S. before. If Trump bites the dust, Biden wins for sure - yet I'm curious how it would play out. -

They should be able to get the sensitivity such that false positives on sequence similarity is low, about 2% or so. Sure, it's possible Trump is a false positive because he happened to have viral fragments of a similar virus - yet that's a pretty low probability. -

If there are coronavirus RNA molecules present, how did they get there without a viral infection? -

It's an enormous field of study. It depends what area you are interested in. For basic background on genetics, a foundational college textbook. Videos by Bozeman science and Khan academy are good. They are generally at an introductory Uni level. In the context of what I wrote, one's genetic makeup interacts with one's environment - there is an interplay between the two. -

A stark contrast between Biden and Trump. How Biden responded to Trump's coronavirus illness during the election campaign on Oct. 2nd 2020: How Trump responded to Hilary's pneumonia illness during the election campaign on Oct. 2nd 2016: -

We don't know if he has just recently started showing mild symptoms. The point I'm making is that anything less than hospitalization and a ventilator can be portrayed as "mild symptoms". For all we know, Trump has bad symptoms, yet not bad enough for a critical care hospital bed. I don't understand why people are believing the statements that come out from the Trump campaign. Statistically, the majority of their statements are false, partially false and misleading. -

Politically, I imagine the Trump campaign will try to portray it as mild symptoms, even if the symptoms are relatively severe. Anything less that a ventilator, they could probably frame as mild symptoms and how strong the president is. They could then use that to strengthen the frame that it's just "a bad flu" and the economy needs to re-open. Yet they would need to be careful not to be too callous. There are a lot of people that have been impacted by the virus - healthwise and financially. Most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Whether there has been an over-reaction is difficult to conclude, since we don't know what a lesser-reaction would have been. We don't know what would have happened if there weren't shutdowns, social distancing and efforts for mask wearing. For all we know, a billion people could have been infected with 10s of millions of deaths and people saying "Maybe the governments of the world grossly under-reacted to a severe virus, which has created massive damage and suffering for billions of people". -
The below robo call was sent through low income areas of Detroit. It's full of misinformation and voter intimidation. If states are serious about curtailing voter intimidation they need to take serious action to prosecute it. This case won't be decided before the election, yet it sends a message. Wealthy groups don't care so much about fines, yet everyone cares about jail time. And it's kinda stupid for the guy to announce his real name at the start of the call. -- One count of violating election law by intimidating voters, a five-year felony; -- One count of conspiracy to commit an election law violation, a five-year felony; -- One count of using a computer to commit the crime of violating election law—intimidating voters, a seven-year felony; and -- Using a computer to commit the crime of conspiracy, a seven-year felony.

Whitmer recently polled at 61% approval on Covid and 59% approval overall. She was as low as 43% approval last year, yet her performance with Covid has pulled her up a lot. It's the biggest issue in Michigan. I've lived in Michigan for 12 years. She is the first governor I've seen moderates speak positively about. Just because of her Covid response. To reasonable people, she seems competent and doing well overall. -
I imagine it will be more civilized I think he's slowed down a lot cognitively, yet he jumped over the dementia bar with room to spare. From what I've seen as a VP and in the campaign, Joe seems fairly humble and knows his limits. I could see him playing a relatively minor role and his cabinet having a lot of influence. I also think Joe would step aside before 2024. There is nothing nefarious going on. You are looking too much into it. Trump pretending to be intelligent on a debate stage is like Sean Caroll pretending to be a UFC fighter in the Octagon. Both are absurd.

No trap. The point is Trump was an ape slinging shit and pounding his chest. It doesn't get more straightforward than that. Biden is a crappy debater. Someone like Warren, Bernie or Harris are much better.
-
Really? If someone tries to reason with an ape throwing it's shit and the ape starts screaming and pounding it's chest - that may have an effect on the "conversation" with the ape - yet it aint "masterful". I suppose one could say Trump is a 'Masterful' shit slinger. In that context sure. Yet in the context of debating. Nope. Watch someone like Noam Chomsky in his prime to see a true master of debate. Debates are the domain of stage Orange. Trump is hanging out in Red / Blue, he isn't even debating. He is just slinging shit.
-
What-aboutism, chest pounding and aggression is low level and primitive. Calling Trump a skillful genius is what Ken Wilber describes as “elevationalism”.
-
The nonpartisan commission on debates said there will be changes to debate rules to prevent interruptions. The only way I see is if they actually cut off mics - saying they will give warnings or the candidate loses time won't do any good. As long as Trump's mic is live he won't stop ranting.
-
Keep in mind that those at TYT are deeply immersed into politics. They all had a complete meltdown after the debate, thinking/feeling Biden blew it and has no chance to win. It seems like they are now trying to re-ground themselves that Biden has a good chance of winning and things may turn out ok.
-
The most common adjective for Trump given by an undecided focus group was ‘Crackhead”’. That aint a good sign.

I also don't understand the criticism of Biden. He repeatedly tried to call out Trump's lies (as did Wallace), yet there were so many that Biden often just nodded and said "not true". What's he supposed to do, spend the entire debate arguing about Trump's lies and falling into his trap? That's what the Biden team specifically wanted to avoid. I think too many people are looking for a fight, Biden isn't going after those voters. I think most of the blame goes to the debate structure and moderator, yet there is only so much Wallace can do. He must have asked Trump 50 times to shut up and shouted over Trump about 10 times. Maybe they should cut off mics the next debate. Reporters after the debate said this was Biden's team strategy - they did not want to fall into the Trump's trap of chasing his lies the whole debate. They wanted Biden to speak to the American people. Trump wants to argue 90min over the lies he makes up - that's his whole persona.
-
I didn't catch the significance of the "stand back and stand by". It seems that is a directive to stand back during the election, yet stand by and be ready to unleash if he loses.
-
I think Trump was a bull in a china shop and Joe was mostly restraining himself. Without the moderator controlling Trump, it's a bad position for Biden - if he is too restrained, Trump rants the whole time and it doesn't look like Biden stands up to him. If Biden is under restrained, he looks presidential at Trump's level. I thought he did a decent job at balancing that and looking somewhat dignified. I think the next debate format should seriously consider cutting mics off while the other is talking.

Yet Americans aren’t aliens just getting to know Trump. This is the same old Trump they’ve seen for years. I don’t see Trump appealing to anyone in the middle, like suburban women he’s been losing. Biden talked about how the suburbs are now multi-racial. Trump couldn’t even condemn white supremacy and Proud Boys.
