  1. Trump just tried to evade the twitter ban by using his campaign twitter account and that got banned as well. ? And then Trump tries tweet through one of his campaign director’s account and that got banned as well. Trump is going through twitter withdrawal ? ?
  2. Removal from office requires a 2/3 senate vote, yet disqualification from future office may only require a simple majority vote. There are two previous precedents in which a federal official was not removed because there weren’t 2/3 vote, yet was disqualified based on a simple majority. https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution-conan/article-2/section-4/judgment-removal-and-disqualification?fbclid=IwAR2BpfnhOk62ODkm85affJzWA4HM7Zn2DV-wUAnKGbfKH7Gg3ZX94syA_M4
  3. This should this further damage MAGA public perception and marginalize them? Do you see MAGA being able to regain any footing and be competitive for mainstream narratives and politics?
  4. Apple announces they will pull parler if they don't devise a moderation plan within 24 hrs.
  5. You better start swimming or sink like a stone. The times they are a changin'
  6. If the Senate has a trial after Jan 20th, it would be run by Schumer, Harris and Justice Roberts. It would be a real trial, not a McConnell sham. I imagine over half of republicans want Trump out of republican politics and barred from running in 2024, yet they don't want to lose the MAGA base. And Lyndsey Graham has shifted toward working with Biden. That guy follows whoever the most powerful fish is.
  7. Allowing extremists on mainstream platforms also gives them some credibility and normalcy. They become "just another opinion" mixed in with reasonable mainstream. A FB group planning to storm capital buildings is mixed in with regular people posting pictures of their pets and gardens. Yet a 4Chan group planning to storm capital buildings is seen very differently. This is why fringe online groups were ecstatic after Trump's "Both sides" comments after Charlottesville - it was a shift to normalizing them and brought them into mainstream conversation. This was one of Trump's damaging effects. He shifted the Overton window and brought in extreme, marginalized behavior toward mainstream. And unfortunately, it brings in a lot of revenue to online platforms. I notice the Lincoln Project has set up a campaign to reveal the main contributors of any republican that voted against election certification and their is pressure for Simon and Schuster to rescind Josh Hawley's book deal, which can make extremism less profitable. And those at the extreme can shout "We're not extreme! We're just another view! What about blah blah (conspiracy theory)". And they can pull it off because they are allowed to mix in with mainstream.
  8. To bar Trump from office, the Senate would need to convict with a 2/3 majority. I don't see 17 republicans voting to convict. Yet I imagine there are alot of senate republicans that don't want Trump running in 2024. Yet, they also don't want to lose the MAGA base by convicting Trump. Republicans are in a tough spot. Voting to aquit Trump is really bad optics for center America. It's hard to justify Trump's recent behavior to average Americans. Yet voting to aquit Trump would outrage the MAGA base, which is about half the party. Yet as time goes on, Trump will lose flavor. If the Dems go for it, I think they need to do it as soon as possible. If a senate trial goes into next March, the events won't be as fresh and they will lose momentum. If a senate vote was held today, any senator that voted to aquit Trump would take a lot of damage. Yet in a couple months when Biden is in full swing, I don't see it as damaging.
  9. Today’s 21 day session led by Barbara Carellas was amazing. The theme was peace and pleasure. She used imagery, breath, vocals, muscle contractions and relaxation to guide a journey through peace and pleasure. One thing I realized is how many blocks I have to peace and pleasure. I can have a hard time giving myself permission to experience peace and pleasure. There were so many different things trying to pull me out of it. It also compliments work I’ve been doing with the Mind Illuminated. This work involves awareness and attention. As Barbara led us through the breathing session, I was more aware of the mind getting distracted and wandering off. I as better able to return attention to the process / experience of the session. I’m also becoming more aware of how many things in life are competing for my attention. Often, the most sensational things win and grab my attention and engagement - even if it pulls me into places that I don’t want to engage in. Yet this is deeper awareness of nature below all the conditioning and mechanical behavior.
  10. Within the construct you are creating, sure. Another way to explore is to exit human constructs and see what happens. Yet this involves deep letting go and entering another consciousness, which most minds are unwilling / unable to do.
  11. Looks like his cabinet told him you are getting 25th'd if you don't read this script
  12. You are creating a human construct of beliefs and values.
  13. There isn't enough time during his tenure. To move it through that fast, 17 republican senators would have needed to commit today to convict Trump. I think most lawmakers want to run out the clock and hope Trump fades away. I don't think they want to incite Trump and MAGA. My understanding is that it's technically possible to start impeachment proceedings now and continue after he leaves office. Yet I seriously doubt there is appetite for that, even centrist Dems want to avoid that. They could impeach after Trump leaves office, yet those are bad optics for Dems, distracts from legislation they want to pass and there is no way the senate would convict him. I don't see any upside for Dems. My prediction is that the most to come out of this for the next two weeks is restraining Trump so he doesn't have any more rallies and doesn't incite another riot. Plus, a heavily secured inauguration. I don't see any more action than that. Once he leaves office, I predict there will be trials over his finances - mostly at the state level. At the federal level, I think Garland's justice department is going to focus on repairing damage and trying to plug up holes so this doesn't happen again, rather than trying to convict high level Trumpers. Garland is about as non-partisan as it gets for a judge. I would bet against Trump spending any time in jail. I see years of court battles and a bunch of plea bargins. Perhaps some type of home-restraint ankle bracelet and probation. Yet, I don't know much about law, just a hunch.
  14. No. Impeachment occurs in the House and only requires a simple majority. If articles of impeachment pass, a trial occurs in the senate and conviction requires a 2/3 majority. If convicted, the president is removed from office. House Democrats could impeach Trump again somewhat easily, yet there is very little chance of the senate convicting him. To get 17 Senators to convict, Trump would need to do something that is outrageous even for him. Something like Trump leading the mob carrying an AK47 and shooting a senator and a police officer. And it would need to be unambiguously on video. That's how complicit republicans are at this time.
  15. For those interested in the breath work I’m involved in: I’m joined a FB group called “21 day Breathwork Challenge”. There are are 2-3 sessions per day and they are led by trained professionals. There is a wide variety of themes including breath techniques, therapy, actualization, healing. It’s a great place to get a feel for a wide range of breath work and learn about different resources. It runs until Jan 21st and is free to join. There are usually 150+ people at each session, so not a small group. Once you join, you have access to some previous sessions and playlists. I hope they post up Keri’s session from today (Jan. 7th). She is the most gifted facilitator I’ve experienced so far. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1497493063738477/ I’ve also participated with Breathing Space that meets 3x per week. These are also led by trained facilitators. The groups are smaller and there is discussion after each session. It has a somewhat close community feel for me. https://www.makesomebreathingspace.com/online-breathing-spaces-1 Another is a small group that meets nightly with about 5-10 people each night. It is a small tight-nit group and I don’t know if I can post the link on social media. I haven’t been able to get in touch with the facilitator. Yet he leads group this Sunday and I will ask him. If I’m able, I will either provide the link in this thread or vis DM. Both resources have a variety of facilitating styles and themes. Some have been amazing for me and some have been meh.
  16. Regarding the legality of barring a president from office: As per constitution: Article I Section VII of the constitution clarifies that removal is not the only punishment impeachment can bring. It reads: “Judgment in Cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States. Congress can’t imprison Trump, yet than can remove and bar him from office. There have been two precedents: https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution-conan/article-2/section-4/judgment-removal-and-disqualification Yet keep in mind that this isn’t simply impeachment. It is impeachment in the House PLUS conviction by 2/3 senators. House impeachment is doable, yet conviction in the senate is unlikely, especially as time moves on. Once Trump is out of office, it’s highly unlikely 2/3 senate would vote to convict - unless Trump keeps escalating. As well, the vast majority of republicans are complicit. Even after this dramatic escalation, only a handful of republicans criticized Trump.
  17. That slogan might resonate with the libertarian streak in America
  18. Ben Sasse now giving a speech about how America is not “Might makes right”. The heart of America is living under god, serving community and maintaining order. Textbook Spiral Dynamics of blue repudiating red.
  19. Whoa!!! Loeffler flips and will certify the results. She just gave a speech that she changed her position due to the riot incident. I wonder if reasonable republicans are putting pressure on defectors to certify.
  20. Stephanie Grisham, a loyal Trump administration official and Melanie Trump’s chief of staff, just submitted her resigned over the riots at capital hill. Effective immediately It will be interesting to see who defects and who sticks with MAGA.
