@Shanmugam I don’t care about authorities really, I’m not into believing them, I’m not identified with any religion. I’m not asking to believe in anything. I’m simply researching it and it is in progress, I’m not concluding anything. But you have to understand that There are rules to this dream, you see? Everything changes. we used to be monkeys, now we are clever monkeys, then we will be something else. There is evolution and it’s not only physical but also happens on the level of subtle bodies or souls. It’s easy to understand that once you dig deeper into understanding of karma and reincarnation cycle. This cycle exists for evolutionary purposes, not just to torture us like Buddha thought. That’s it, evolution has its logic and plan and Homo sapiense is not the highest stage of evolution. Its not about higher meaning and purpose per se, its about how reality is structured, how it progresses, how it changes. Christianity, Islam and Judaism only exists because of that, they give a guidance within this ‘dream’, they are not about enlightenment, enlightenment for them is just one step, if they are about enlightenment they would simply state that, like Buddha did he said I teach enlightenment, but they stated different things. It’s not just bunch of metaphors of enlightenment like many ppl like to think. And they seem to be contradictory but once you look on the spirituality and religions from integral point of view you can see that they actually complement each other. To understand what Aurobindo meant, one need to research it, it’s rather a complicated topic. Even the chosen ones will be deceived (c) Jesus. (chosen ones = enlightened ones) -

@Shanmugam enlightenment is what you define as enlightenment = non-dual awareness, no suffering, no self, unconditional love etc etc etc It might be binary or non-binary I don’t have opinion on that. But salvation is not the stage of enlightenment or anything what Buddha and Krishna and Advaita talked about. They are only relevant until you have enlightenment but not further on the spiritual path. Because mind the period of time when they lived! It was before Jesus and evolutionary progress had limitation back then. Salvation that Jesus talked about is beyond enlightenment. Enlightenment is a naturally occurring realisation that one will have on the path to salvation. Salvation is when subtle body or what is called ‘soul’ fully merges with physical body, it is when descending evolutionary energy transforms ‘matter’ and eventually human-being acquires new supramental body within his physical body (Jesus resurrection). Whenever you had your head buzzing - know that it is evolutionary energy pouring through your head!!! And it only wants to fully purify you from all kinds of things and give birth to new body within yourself, you only need to surrender to it and let it do it’s work once you are enlightened. And yes salvation is from Judgement day. And what is it??? It is the quantum leap of the evolutionary process on the earth. I don’t want to dig into what salvation is because it’s difficult to explain that, everyone will misunderstand it because not many people really want to understand the big picture and what comes after their life and how this dream and evolution is structured, they just want instant relief here and now so they seek enlightenment, instant happiness instant paradise instant bliss, consumerism takes new shape, they want to hear beautiful words like life is a dream and that they don’t need to do anything at all, see ppl want easy solutions and relief but that’s just another delusion. They don’t want to listen anything about punishment and any scary things, it will hurt their mental paradigm. And anyway salvation was explained by Jesus and sources that I mentioned to you. If there’s nothing beyond enlightenment then there’s no reason for Bible and Quran to exist at all. Things would stop on Buddha. Abrhamic religions wouldn’t exist. Absolutely zero reason for them in such case. yet they all exist and talk about hell and heaven and apocalypse and resurrection and sin and all that staff which seems to be non-sense and completely unrelated to enlightenment. Hehe it’s because enlightenment is just one part/step of the whole game. Game is not based around enlightenment, game is never-ending show that will go on. And Death won’t liberate you from this eternal game (c) Aurobindo. Btw it’s not that I’m simply believing in some authority, I’m researching various sources and experiencing certain things. You should do it too if you are truly interested in Jesus teachings and Sri Aurobindo can help you. I might sound like BS, but anyway don’t believe, just research, that’s what I did when I intuited that it’s not as simple as nondualers think Well it’s simple in the end when you see bigger picture, but not when you don’t know and stuck with ‘enlightenment is the end’ paradigm. People like to simplify everything, make theory of everything consisted from few words like enlightenment and everything is one and nothing exists and so on. Haha yes all is one so what? Game is still on and it has its own rules -

@Shanmugam I’m not talking about enlightenment. Enlightenment is enlightenment, and salvation is salvation. Jesus didn’t teach enlightenment. I know it’s easy to identify some of his quotes for description of enlightenment. But that’s not the case if you study Jesus holistically and not picking verses -
Monkey-man replied to WildeChilde's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Shanmugam Jesus was enlightened but his teachings are ultimately about salvation, while enlightened life is just one important aspect of the path towards salvation. Mind that salvation in Christianity and Islam is something different than moksha, it’s salvation from Judgement day. And I will stop here because it will take way too long to explain that and my English might not be good enough to write on such nuanced topics. But it’s all about never-ending process of evolution. And it’s all really simple but very nuanced. Check out Sri Aurobindo and his disciple Mira Alfassa. They wrote tones of very dense and nuanced works on Jesus and so called ‘supramental’ transformation/evolution of humanity, and they base everything on their direct experience. If we take sources in English, I think pretty much no one, except real deal saints of the past, has understood Jesus and the whole point of spirituality and where humanity is heading to, better than Aurobindo and Alfassa. -

@Shanmugam it means that you misunderstood Jesus. Plz read Jesus’ teachings carefully. Jesus didn’t teach enlightenment, his teachings are way beyond that. And nonduality isn’t the highest and most profound form of spirituality as many ppl here think. It’s only useful in beginning but eventually it will hold you back. -

All the Indian scriptures such as Bhagavad-Gita, Buddha's teachings, ancient and modern non-duality which is based on Indian traditions and any kind of non-duality really, they all make enlightenment as their end goal. But enlightenment is only one tiny step on the spiritual path. All of that is outdated for the current potential of human soul's capabilities. Enlightenment was the biggest thing possible in that ancient times but not in the last 2,000 years and especially not today. In order to see what is the whole purpose of spirituality, you should make some research on scriptures (or interpretations of them) of Abrahamic religions, especially New Testament and Quran, as they are the last and final scriptures we have and will ever have. They reveal the end purpose of spirituality or what you might call as authentic spirituality. New-Age is just renaissance of forgotten spirituality after centuries of industrialization, it can be helpful for beginners but it doesn't usually go to the core of spirituality. -

my intuition tells me that you have engaged with some black magic, well be careful since it’s not the right path but good luck and bless you. -
Anyone familiar with Aurobindo (and also his disciples: Alfassa and Satprem) ?What do you think about his discoveries of human evolution?

agree, this forum is addictive, but thats not the problem of forum of course its my and our problem I think forum's quality has gone down a lil bit. We should share more of an advanced info/insights/knowledge on actualization/spirituality. That's where forum should be headed imho. It should grow-up instead of pondering same general things. still great forum though

That's not the case imho. It's not the introversion per se, but rather the need for Truth, which is a natural need in terms of evolution/growth of the soul, requires turning inward and introversion arises as a natural consequence of that. However, you might argue that you start seeking Truth only in 20s, 30s, 40s, while you were introvert from childhood. Its because you actually were ready to seek truth from childhood, or even did it but unconsciously. Enlightenment is for everyone who is ready in terms of karma, i.e. people whose 'soul' or higher-self or karmic stream is grown-up enough. Some people are still busy playing with social dramas/chasing career/status/basic survival etc etc. And they are happy from that, and there's no problem here if they are truly happy doing this, it means they are growing. And Only if you see that there's no more joy/meaningfulness in all of that, you are ready for truth-seeking. Its both for people who were born extrovert and introvert. Extraverts can still seek truth but they still turn inward and become more of introverts during that. And also, i think, enlightenment is easiest for truly happy people. They can agree to lose ego and let go very easily, however, happy people don't tend to seek truth until idle life ends, and sooner or later it will. its usually unhappy people who seek truth and god. why? because their soul is ready for it, thats why they suffer, because they can't have growth from ordinary things and from being in crowd anymore, they outgrew it in terms of karma but still engage in it and don't understand why they are unhappy while everyone else around is happy from doing same things. Suffering is a sing that you need to outgrow what ya doing. Now that seems to be an introversion because evolution in crowds (extraversion) is no longer helpful for you. Once you are enlightened you can have growth and happiness from being around people again, this is 'the return to the marketplace'. imho -

I think statements about enlightened boomboom are created by thoughts and not coming from experience. Coz experience is that after simple consciousness work I have much less drive and less need to possess. And that's a good thing. Why do you want sex drive, there's no joy in being a slave to your dingaling. Let your dingaling be your tool not your boss. Pleasure is a bonus or consequence, not the reason to do something. Body isn't designed to seek pleasures, it is designed to maintain sensing activity and balance, check out UG Krishnamurti. -

@molosku yes you are right dude, my point is just another perspective. Many people emotionally desire enlightenment, that doesn't work I think. -
Monkey-man replied to Shin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@molosku no-mind is no-thoughts that control you. Necessary isn’t it? No desires is about removing desires, not about desiring to have no desires. -
Monkey-man replied to Shin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I’d also add things that are essential: 1. do the work without desiring enlightenment or thinking about it. 2. Work is: full surrender of ego, meditation to train to be in no-mind, self-inquiry, removing all kinds ofdesires. 3. If you are not newbie anymore, stop putting emotional effort, instead remove everything and be fully surrendered. -

@martin_malin beautiful! If ud like to share ur LP here it would be nice
-
I just wanted to share this tip, which was revealed for me on the 'spiritual path', for people who are struggling with their LP and for everyone really. For me now its more obvious than ever what is hero's journey really, what is higher calling, why life is about sacrifice, and love, and why people are so hungry for meaning and high purpose in life. Basically, everyone was born with specific task/mission/purpose in life. You seek purpose and higher meanings because God makes you to seek it. All of your given talents, inclinations, main interests and FEARS, especially those that come from childhood - all that were given to you not by mere accident, but by purpose. Your specific mission is dependent on having tools such as your talents and deepest interests, and it has to do with your specific fears which will direct you on the path. You need to find your LP within your soul/higher-self/your inner teacher, its already there inside of you, just calm down all of your thoughts and desires (ALL OF THE DESIRES) to be able to see it. And when you will experience higher calling which will come from your soul, you will eventually start to see how your whole life and your personality and all the dots connect with each other. It won't be rationalizing but intuitive understanding. This calling isn't some desire to create nice life, it actually doesn't feel like desire or even like typical life goal. Its coming from your heart, so it doesn't have flavor of desire, but it has flavor of huge sense of commitment, as if you are being pushed to do it, and deep need to sacrifice yourself for this mission. Yes, you were born to sacrifice your life to work towards this purpose. Thats your redemption of having gift of life. Literally, after your doubting mind will calm down you will feel more and more that you are ready, in some sense, to give out your physical life, your own ambitions, all the time you have left with, just for this mission. And this purpose has nothing to do with fulfilling your own ambitions and reputation. Moreover, its likely that you won't receive any praise, goodies related with your self-image and understanding of other people. Rewards will still drive you and hopes for the better future too, but they will be secondary coz your main reward is immediate, it'll be in the moment of doing your thing. Its not your typical sense of passion, drive or motivation, its much more subtle, calm and fulfilling. And now all the sufferings of life will be handled better and make some sense, they will be justified. Now you will really grow, understand life, have joy and be a hero. Hero has troubles and demons to kill and tasks and responsibilities, but he has deep fun and joy and love in doing all of that. Learning how to be happy in the midst of misery - that is one of the greatest wisdom that hero myths taught us. Moments of fear and slaughtering dragons are no longer meaningless like before. Now things have eternal meaning. In the beginning you will think that you are saviour of the world or hero, but soon you will drop any egoic ideas about your self-importance. You will just do your thing day by day, following whatever your intuition, heart, soul tells you to do, without looking too much into the future. Your soul won't tell ya future, but it can be your guide in the present moment. And, unlike your brain, it doesn't make mistakes. Think about Christ, he died, might seem unfair, but it wasn't mistake or for nothing. It was fair and meaningful. So devote yourself fully to your intuition and soul, they won't make mistakes. You will find the greatest freedom in being slave of God, however uncertain it might sound. And faith will come to you spontaneously. You will see that you are ready to live in solitude, with patience, without material goodies, ready to suffer just for this mission. And well you won't necessarily die like Christ because in modern days its usually not about putting yourself in dangerous situation. But you certainly will feel constant series of ego death and resurrection, because its essential for you to grow. This mission has to do with something which isn't you, something beyond yourself, usually it is specific task that you do for the good of other people. And its usually has to do with combination of your biggest love and interest in life + 'uplifting humanity' or survival of humanity. Which made me to think that human evolution itself is a part of this same force. Evolution is God's plan for the better future or heavenly future of humanity which won't happen soon, but you can make it a bit closer coz you are playing your role in it. Heaven on Earth - thats God's goal, believe me or not. So the reason of your unnecessary or inauthentic suffering is that you still didn't accept that calling. And your whole life is a sequence of same signs that point to this same thing. And life will break your heart, make you suffer and feel empty unless you finally accept that calling. There's phrase: God breaks your heart until you learn how to keep it open all the time. Mind will always talk about meaninglessness of all this staff, and that its bullshit and reality is an infinite playground and doesn't exist, and make you to think about having pleasures and having fun and doing whatever you desire. Thats devil's advocate. And thats the whole trick and the whole game. Thats ying-yang. The whole point is to learn how to harmonize mind and soul. Have a sense of playground and fun with responsibility and purpose. Meaning and purpose aren't from mind and for mind, its from soul and for soul. Meaning and purpose isn't verbal, its subtle feeling. Its beyond words. Thats why life is meaningless and meaningful in the same time. Meaningfulness is feeling or higher feeling, not justifications and rationalizations. Meaningfulness is something we can feel, not think. If we think about life then sure we'll come to conclusion that its meaningless and purposeless. But think about it, so what if it doesn't exist? So what if its a dream? Thats all we have, whats your argument really? Non-existing dream is only reality, so be it. It doesn't mean that there's no meaning in this non-existing dream, see? Thats precisely the whole point of having manifested reality, God telling stories to himself. Everything is information, and information is inherently has meaning. Your DNA is a meaning in itself, code is meaning itself. Music is meaning itself. Forms are meanings itself. Its not rational and verbal, its completely irrational and non-verbal. First and foremost its a sense of meaning and purpose or lack of that sense, while rationalization of meaning or no meaning comes after. Animals do have sense of meaningfulness, thats why they try to survive, they just don't rationalize it. If you are tricked by mind you will go and fulfill your sensual desires and dismiss calling, but then life will hit you over and over again. God is so fair, you don't yet imagine. Once you learn rules, the idea is clear: to be observer and participant of the story, both in the same time. Kids listen to fairytale and in the same time they imagine that they are inside of the story. So your task is to be both storyteller or story-creator and story-iistener or story-observer. Good thing is that the more able you to follow your mission the easier, more effortless life will be. Everything you need for this purpose will be provided to you without much hustle. You might think its by accident, but no, its God leading you. And the best thing is that your purpose will have to do with things that you love most in your life. You love them not by accident, you were born to love these things. And these things are not always fancy or popular for others. This is what Jo Campbell called as follow your bliss. He loved to read myths, and in the end it was his purpose, to write about it, and now the whole world benefits from that. Is it fancy, profitable or cool thing - to read myths? Nah, but he loved it. LP is what you like to do when no one looks at you. So it can be really nice thing, its sacrificing your made-up desires, ideas and purposes for the sake of your real purpose. Of course, you might want to start with your made-up purpose first and it can lead you to real purpose. But anyway, you should calm down your mind and listen to your soul/heart/higher-self, however vanilla it might sound to you. There is master Yoda inside of you! He knows what to do. Find him. Start with questioning your whole life from your very birth, start questioning meaninglessness of short-term existence of human life, meaninglessness of accumulating staff and money and career and pleasures. And start moving towards eternity, make eternity your end goal, and meditate.

I think, Nietzsche is all about future and evolution of Homo sapiens. Imho Zarathustra is about two things: 1. Post-enlightenment life. 2. Future of Evolution of Homo sapiens. Nietzsche tells us what to do after enlightenment, and why. Because humanity will now evolution through conscious effort. Why he went mad? Coz he couldn't handle implications of deep consciousness work. (My theory) And he is very harsh towards ego. He is very anti-ego as I see it. He destroys all the harmful values of both materialistic pleasures and Christian naive dogmas, that doesn't help for spiritual growth of humanity, and reevaluates it by suggesting new solution. Main point of superhuman isn't just self-actualization of one's life, it's gradual evolution of material bodies of humanity through allowing consciousness and evolutionary energy to do its work. To understand concept of superhuman, one need to read Aurobindo, Satprem, Mirra Alfasa. And also Krishnamurti to some extent. These ppl nailed it, they went way beyond enlightenment and tell us what's spiritual progress is all about, and where humanity is heading to. Enlightenment isn't end goal of Spirituality, end goal is kingdom of god on earth, and that will happen through evolution of body. Also, real Zaratusthra himself, as well as Jesus( though Nietzsche misunderstood Jesus), were all about superhuman. Just imho
