It is a good thing, there is a time where your breath should even stop completely and you will get absorbed in deep meditation -

Breath in until your lungs are completely full, expand belly, chest and shoulders, HOLD the air while opening chest, belly and throat like you are going to look into the sky and visualize your internal organs expanding, hold until you cannot anymore and let everything go slowly. A good one of those will quiet the monkey mind immediately, it is really strong, do at your own risk.

Yeah, thanks to the internet we have easy access to information about awakening and now you can educate yourself as before you would go to a psychiatrist, be labeled crazy, put on several mind/soul-numbing medications for life. -
Yeah, that's all and good until you fall in one of the infinite traps of the path, delude yourself, waste decades in the wrong direction that could be easily pointed to by a proper guru. Gurus, teachers, mentors, coaches whatever can be of great help, especially in a path that essentially alter reality. The biggest sages had mentors (sometimes, several of them).

Thank you, I am preparing to my second vipassana retreat as a student and the first one was gruesome, but, to be honest, I was in another level then, with lots of neurosis and shadow work needed to be done which made the retreat seem like he'll as my monkeys mind went full frenetic mode for ten days. I made the mistake to prepare to do a one hour sitting with ease but I not the subsequent ones which got worse and worse due to physical pains all over the body during the whole day of meditation, every day. This is a really useful guide which I will implement immediately. -
Well, I am sure some people on this forum have the intention to become a sage, like Leo have. I do have this intention and it is my vision for the future to create and build an intentional community/Ashram, but this could and should take a decade+. My life purpose is to create conscious leaders and I intend to do this with a serious ashram in Brazil like it is the practice in vipassana retreats, not those new age "spiritual seekers" that hardly meditate or practice serious Yoga. So, yeah, it is possible that from this community comes outs a few spiritual leaders in the next decade.

The more you learn about the day-to-day life of indian gurus and saints, the more you realize you know nothing about how an enlightened person suppose to behave, they are incredibly unpredictable. Showing anger, prone to violence, shouting, cursing, addictions, impatience etc. The west gurus like Mooji, Eckhart Tolle and Rupert Spira tend to appear more peaceful, loving and all of that to appeal to western people that have this distorted image of what God has to look like, indians seem to throw out these non-sense thousands of years ago. The level of development of the disciples also play a huge hole in how the guru must act in order to instruct them into awakening. The way you deal with a stage red disciple will be vastly different then to a stage yellow one. -
Well, if by serious you mean focused, "all in" in a particular problem to solve it, this can be a pretty good characteristic. If by serious you mean neurotic, narrow-minded, overreacting, yeah# you have work to do. I usually assess people's level of spiritual development by their level of neurosis, specially when dealing with challenge. Most people are very low on that scale, losing their shit over pathetic stuff all the time. Most can hide their neurosis very well, even some apparently poised stoic "alphas", if you look closely, they are trying hard to hide their neurosis which manifests in their over controlling behavior (trying to dominate everyone around in a particular set of behavior so they can keep the illusion that they have all in control). Here are some things you have to realize to heal of neurosis: The best way to deal with problems is always to focus on solutions and forget all else. Blame, complain, worry, anxiety, overthinking are not only useless but they lessen your ability to find solutions. A calm mind is a clear mind. Read that again. The best way to deal with chaos is to deal with one thing at time, in a moment to moment basis, cultivate presence, it is a superpower. Realize that the present moment is all that is. What is in front of you happening right now is all that is, all else is just imagination, figures in your mind, like a television screen passing random stuff all the time, just turn your attention away from it and focus on what's actually happening right now (see Leo's video about Actuality). Ground yourself in the present moment and forget all else, this is scarier that it seems but it is the only option you have. Have a big picture understanding of reality, see that it is all a play, God is playing with itself all the time, it is not serious at all but you are free to take it serious all you want and will have a big laugh when you wake up from this illusion. "Man suffers only because he takes seriously what the gods made for fun." -Alan Watts Psychedelics are GREAT to take you out of this illusion and really have some perspective on things and realize it's all a play. Dmt is particularly good for me to realize this.

In my experience is an everpresent phenomenon but it changes moment to moment according to what is happening but it works in several levels at the same time, it keeps one eye on the biggest goal (our life purpose/self-realization, if you will) and another eye on what's happening right now and the best choices that lead to the attainment of the higher goal. The problem is that the mind/ego voice is usually a lot louder and frenetic, you have to be calm and present to hear and follow the intuition instead. -
Just watched this movie and it does a great job depicting stage orange mentality: super materialist to the point of fucking up his whole life to earn some money for money sake, rat race, stressed all the time, totally dependent on external events in order to know what to feel (happy when earn money, sad when don't) etc. It's a good movie, a little hard to watch if you are an empath and stage above orange as the movie intentionally gives you a feeling of anxiety most of the time.

I liked this format, pretty straight forward and inquisitive, thanks!

Does it really matter? There are lot of models of spiritual awakenings, it's cool to get some clarification and assurance but, in the end, it will happen what needs to happen and it will take the time it needs to take. This is an endless journey, ultimately, it doesn't matter if you are in the beginning or in an advanced stage. I know you want some assurance and Matt Kahn is a great teacher for this, he has a way of calming you down and show you in lots of different ways that IT IS ALL RIGHT, doesn't matter what is happening, you are doing great and evolving in the faster rate you can in the moment. In my darkest hours, i felt incredibly lonely, depressed, confused, lost, feeling like i was going literally crazy and all i had was the teachings i found on the internet, all i had was pixels in a screen. In the end, i did all i could do: just keep going, have unshakable faith that it's all part of the infinite intelligence. There is no going back, so, you might as well just go for it and see what is on the other side. I just followed my intuition, ignoring all else and i have to say that it was fucking worth it. It took a long time of suffering but right now i feel i just hit that point in the self-development curve that the growth is exponential and i don't even feel like i am "doing" anything, it's like i am just following along what is being presented to me in the moment. I am sure you are doing fine, just do the best you can as it is the only thing that God can ask of you, let go of the control, follow your intuition, commit yourself to the path and, for God's sake, LOVE YOURSELF RELENTLESSLY, seriously, we are kind of alone in this journey, it's your job to take care and love yourself as no one else will do it for you.

Have some boundaries. Tell people no, walk away and ignore them. If they are insistent, you have to be direct, tell them you can't help and you would appreciate if they don't follow you. Actual hardcore enlightened masters are known for act in seemingly rude ways, screaming and sending people away all the time. The problem is that we have lots of beliefs about how we think a high being should act and how love should look like. This is mostly bullshit, God love's you unconditionally and God would let you get tortured, raped and killed without hesitating. A true master wouldn't have a problem in telling people to get the fuck away if he feels it's the right thing to do.

Equanimity + the right perspective + serious concentration skills. You observe pain and don't react at all to it, don't offer any resistance and it will subside or greatly diminish, this requires lots of concentration since your mind will probably go crazy and you have to maintain equanimity. The right perspective means that it is easy for a fully enlightened master that KNOWS he is freaking GOD to rise above pain that is is for the average person that it is totally lost in his character. Most of the pain we feel is due to our resistance to it, it's fear. The physical part is minor and if you are not super attached to the body, it will be way easier. -

He answered this question lots of time, basically, he is an eccentric figure, unpredictable. Part of his teachings keeps turning around the theme of the meaningless of raw reality and that opposed to our view of reality full of self-bias for survival purposes. He also loved tantra that is basically: embrace all feelings, fuck guilt and shame, there is no right or wrong, love, dance, enjoy life because that's why we are here, to experience all of it, including sex and luxury. He also loved attention and being that wild, unconquerable, random, unpredictable sage. It was part of his personality, he loved to mess with people's minds, especially to fuck with peoples certainties like the behaviors that they think a guru should have. It is a valid way to wake people up out of their conditioned thinking. -

Looks like your father is doing this for himself (as usually people do), so, do the same and think what is best for you since no one will do it for you (not even parents). Be grateful, thank them and do what you think is the wiser decision, just don't expect him to understand anything (this is for life, actually). Get rid of your need to feel responsible for the feelings of unconscious people, they will often pick anything to keep their dramas and victim mentality and that has nothing to do with you.

As someone who grew up with serious codependence due to toxic manipulative narcissistic family members, I say: cut negative people ruthlessly out of your life, those people will weight you down and drain you non-stop until you vibrate with them in low vibrations. Life is too short and precious to waste a second with those people, and, unfortunately, this is most people. Let them learn their lessons and go learn your own. If I don't find anyone that is align with me, thriving in life, positive, conscious etc, I prefer to be alone. Best decision ever.
