Not THE world, just THIS world... Nice message !

First of all : @Henri Your answer has nothing to do with the question he asked. Or if it does, you never explained how, in any way. That doesn't make communication really productive, from my opinion. Then : @Driven I think the most relevant psychology concept here is conditioning. From the moment of your birth, you have been conditioned at every second, over and over, in order to have the personality and interests you have now. And because our universe is such a complex and chaotic one, if you ask why you have the interests you have today, the answers can go as far as your birth, and can seem like random, insignificant and mundane events. But because they affected the early trajectory of your life, now you have been going in this particular direction for several years. But if a few random events in your childhood had happened differently, then today you would be a totally different human being. So your interests, which you might tend to see as coherent, valuable, or even sacred parts of who you really are, are actually caused by details which are so futile you can't even remember any of them. Most of them were forgotten during the same hour they happened. But all of them, each day, contributed to forge the micro-structure of the brain you possess now, which is literally who you are as a person. And it may seem depressing and nihilistic at first, but actually it means you can become who you want. And as you asked in your comment, yes you can make someone interested in something new, by linking it to something else the person is already interested in. You can even do it for yourself. So I wish you good luck, not in finding your interests, but in creating them...

@Why? Don't search for ONE reason. Make a whole list of them. They're called values. Here are mine : - Consciousness - Contribution - Peace Of Mind - Connection - Ambition - Creativity - Personal Growth - Excellence - Honesty - Independance

@Santiago I got myself out of a situation that's pretty similar to yours. I had huge self-esteem issues. I was working in a hardware store and was afraid to talk to the people there. I was even afraid to say hello to anyone. That was pretty bad. After a few months of working on myself, I now feel like one of the most confident, extroverted, funny, charming and lovable people at my job. Never forget that it's possible to get there. But how ? My first step was to see a psychologist. I didn't feel traumatized at all, but I knew how tricky a human mind could be, so I went anyway. It changed my life. My second step was to get out of my parents' house. If you're still there, start searching for the quickest way out. It's probably toxic as hell. My third step was to watch self-help videos, like Elliott Hulse, Leo, Brian Smith. There I learned about visualization, affirmation, law of attraction. And it was a crucial help for me. It seemed illogical and dishonest for me to lie to myself like that, but eventually I saw it was just a technique. And the technique works. Trust me, you can't NOT be good at those. You're always using them anyway, it's just that you're using them to become a failure instead of becoming a winner. My fourth step was to become extremely ambitious about the trajectory of my life. As a student in computer engineering, it meant that I wanted to contribute to the rise of god-like AI, virtual worlds, transhumanism, the singularity, and eventually pierce through the deepest mysteries of existence itself. No need to become as crazy as me hahaha, but ambition helps My fifth stage was to start meditating. When I think of it, I should have started sooner. Meditation will help you deconstruct the huge chunk of negative beliefs you carry around each day. You will learn that, in a sense, the voice inside your head is just a weird asshole trying to ruin your life. It doesn't come from you, it doesn't say the truth, and you don't have to obey it. Ever. Now I may have sounded rude and uncompassionate, but really I know you're suffering. I know you're doing your best. I know you don't deserve this. I want to tell you how much I understand your pain, but I don't think that's what you need to hear. You need to be told to man the fuck up ! The world won't carry you in it's arms like you mother did.
-
@Argue Don't worry, no one's offended. And sorry to be rude, but we thought it was a joke because it seems obvious to us that 2 minutes and then falling asleep is not enough to give her an orgasm. My advice is to learn what girl's orgasms sound like and what they look like. You'll see her moaning start to climax. Her pleasure level is going to rise. And then for a few seconds or more, some of her muscles are going to get really tense, to the point where the only thing that could come out of her mouth is a loud scream. Then, when you know what it looks like, you can start seeing it like a sport : You score the most points you can. No matter if you penetrate, finger or eat out. No matter how tired you end up. No matter how long it takes. From now on, her orgasms absolutely are the only thing you care about. No exception. And less than 5 of them is automatic failure. Hope I wasn't too rude, and I wish you good luck. You got potential

@Veggies make me fart Yeah ! In fact, whoever says "Mhhhh! Always hire well!" is a bit condescending. Because they make it sound like it's so easy, like you should have already gotten it by now. They neglect the fact that you're already doing your best. And that maybe you're just focusing on other aspects of your development right now. But when THEY cannot even do it well ! Then that become hypocritical to a pathetic point haha. So, people, I know it's hard for some of you but when you give advice, please respect the efforts that the person's already making...

@Falk LOL nobody really answered your question yet. Jerks I'll be the first then. Meditation (2 separate hours) Outside walk (1 hour) While you walk, spend the first 30 minutes trying to be mindful of your five senses. Spend the other 30 minutes talking to yourself about who you want to become in life. Creating something meaningful to you (2 hours) Enlightenment work (1 hour) Reading about personal development subjects (1 hour) Journaling about who you want to become in life (1 hour) This is all an average. And if you only have 6 hours free on a work day, then forget the last two items. You can catch up with them on your days off. And take the rest of your time to do whatever you want, you'll deserve it.

@FindingPeace If we take Leo's work as a reference, then he would say this probably isn't an authentic value, because it's a pretty low consciousness one. It's about excitement, stimulation and distraction. Not true fulfillment. It's just fine, no problem with watching a good movie every once in a while. But don't make your life about it either. That's kind of his view on the subject. But don't worry man, you didn't fall into that trap AT ALL. The traps you may have possibly fell into (I don't know) are the trap of having overlapping values, or maybe the trap of being too vague and abstract, to the point you can't really measure how good you are at embodying those values. For example, that's why I didn't choose Authenticity. Because, at this point in my journey, I have no god damn fucking idea what authenticity might look like for me in concrete terms.

@FindingPeace Interesting... What do you mean ? Low vs. high consciousness values ? Social conditioning vs. authentic values ? Immediate pleasure vs. long-term fulfillment ?

@FindingPeace You seem like you got things handled there, my friend ! If you want to further your search for yourself, you could maybe look at your values again and search for values that overlap. Did you make sure that Truth, Openmindedness, Authenticity and Honesty don't share too much common ground ? And also, Authenticity and Individuality might mean almost the same thing for some people. But I don't know, no certainty here, I'm just offering this humble food for thought

@Veggies make me fart I think your weaknesses and life circumstances shouldn't limit you when you choose your values. The only criteria is authenticity. It doesn't need to be a value you are already able to embody. For example, my first one is consciousness. But am I really conscious ? Not only do I think I'm not that conscious, I don't even know how unconscious I am. Even worse, I don't know if I know how conscious I am ! I'm just a big mess of uncertainty hahaha, but high consciousness still seems like the most fulfilling state I can imagine, so...

@Kelley White Garrett Lisi : already watched yesterday The 8 hours video : spotted yesterday, and watching it was kind of my plan for the day... but I still have to buy popcorn before starting so...
-
@Kelley White Ok now physics hasn't blown my mind for a long time haha. But right now it just did. I've watched the whole thing and it seems to stand in a perfect balance between plausible, genius and crazy. Needless to say I'm pretty pumped up right now. I might spend the entirety of tomorrow researching on this. Thanks for being such an encyclopedia. He didn't delve deep into sacred geometry though. I mean the bunch of circles making up an hexagon. But his theory of everything is certainly worth trying to wrap my head around. And by the way, what's the deal with Hawaii ? Do you know Garrett Lisi ? He has the most interesting theories of everything I knew of, which has now become the second most interesting, thanks to you !
-
@Kelley White Oh my god ! There it is. Today might be my first chance to give sacred geometry any kind of credit, except being an ambitious idea. I don't close my mind to the concept, but everything I heard about it yet came from bullshitters. Let's see where this goes...

@quantum Don't forget that Grave's model is exponential. The first stages took thousands of years to appear. The most recent ones took only decades. Expect evolution to accelerate, not to slow down.

Here's a cool possibility you might not have considered. With the advancement of nanotechnology, brain implants and artificial intelligence, we may reach a point where we can create high consciousness pills. Pills that are filled with nano-robots, ready to spread through your brain. Then those robots can gradually restructure the neurons and synapses in your brain, literally changing who you are. After a few weeks, you would become a more compassionate, calm, rational, conscious, happy and motivated person. How awesome would that be ? Who wouldn't buy that ? Who wouldn't give that to their children ? A good person pill ! NOT taking it would be considered immoral, if not illegal. Right now though, most people are deeply afraid of futuristic technology such as this one. They don't seem to understand that we should promote a grandiose vision for humanity's future. Not think about the billion ways everything could go wrong.
-
I hate it when people say "everything balances out" or "everything works in cycles". Can't you read your own sentences ? When you say "everything", you really have to mean everything, you know that ? Not just a couple of things you cherry picked to make up a universal law that sounds nice.
-
You often talk about core beliefs, but you never made a list of the most fundamental ones. I want to know what are the most solid assumptions I can question as a human being. The kind of assumptions that form the basis of science, philosophy and logic itself. Things like : "Something exists", "Things are what they are", "Things are either true or false", "2+2=4". I think openmindedness and yellow thinking could be enhanced by such mental gymnastics.
-
@FindingPeace The documentary I saw didn't talk about any conflict between the two hemispheres of a split brain patient. But sometimes, one hemisphere knew the answer to the experimenter's question, while the other hemisphere didn't have any clue. So I guess there's a possibility for conflict sometimes. I can't wait for scientists to discover more about those mysteries of the mind !
-
@Galyna Yeah I know. Something exists. It's just so obvious. I can't think of an argument against it. And that's what scares me. That's what makes me want to doubt it anyway. And the more I try to doubt it, the crazier I get. And I love this !
-
@Iovestar Amazing comment. Bravo. I don't see why consciousness would be needed for future planning, or even creativity, or any other human activity. Evolutionarily speaking, it would be stupid to spare any amount of effort in maintaining consciousness all day long. As you said, it really seems like a by-product of evolution. But this also raises a huge existential doubt : If consciousness has no evolutionary reason to exist, has no influence on any particle in this universe and has no way of being described in logical terms, maybe it simply does not exist. And before you start throwing rocks at me, please know that I'm totally aware of the paradox there. The existence of consciousness is literally the only thing you cannot doubt. It is one of the most fundamental assumptions of human logic. It's more fundamental than 2+2=4. So if you want to throw consiousness by the window, you also have to throw 2+2=4, and everything else. EXCEPT ONE : We'll call it "The Law Of Identity". It's the simplest law ever. It states that something is what it is. X=X. I am me, you are you. Consciousness is consciousness. But what if we try to doubt this one ? What if consciousness isn't consciousness ? What if it is and isn't at the same time ? What if it neither is nor isn't ? What if even the most basic building blocks of logic are false ? Try to think about that. Tell me it didn't blow your mind...

@Kelley White At least I know one way to access to your subconscious thought : Psychedelics. Listen from 2:09 to like 2:51. It's intense, but also short and hard to remember. Another way I know is through introspection. For example, I remember when I first discovered why I had debates with people. Before, I thought I was the one who's right. And I thought I had to educate those who were wrong. But someday I saw that any debate I had was just an elaborate and subtle strategy to make myself superior to others. An ego game, so to speak. But my original question was more interested in the microstructure of one's brain. I'll give you the answer I came up with last week : "You can't access your subconscious thoughts, desires and beliefs because they are neurally connected in a way that you can't recall them or speak of them. They surely are present inside your brain. And they surely have lots of repercussions on your overall behavior and personality. They have surely been stocked like some kind of memory. But even though your brain loves to have them around, it really hates to bring them up. So it makes it really hard for you to remember them or talk about them." Now I'd really like you to elaborate a bit on those hyper-awareness states. Have you reached them ? If so, how ?
-
@Galyna You can't. You just have to leave a big question mark on this one, forever. Because you would only have two ways of investigating this mystery : Science or Introspection. Science is quite powerless on this issue, because it needs to measure stuff with instruments, or to question people with sheets of paper. The results always have to be accessible to any other scientist. If you wanted to prove that I'm conscious, you would have to ask me. I would tell you : "Yes, I see colors, I hear sounds, so I'm conscious !" But I would be the only "scientist" to have access to this evidence, so it wouldn't be real science. Introspection is to look inwards. The problem is : you can only look inside your own mind, so you still can't prove that I'm conscious. That led many people to believe that they were the only existing being. And that every other person is only a figment of their imagination. It's called solipsism, and it'll blow your mind, even though i'm not sure your mind exists https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solipsism?wprov=sfla1

@FindingPeaceHave you heard of split brain patients ? Since their right and left hemisphere are not connected anymore, the person sometimes behaves as if there was two people in one head. But none of them is aware of the other. And only one of them can communicate through language, because the verbal parts of the brain are mostly located in only one hemisphere. But does the other one feel left out ? Is it a second person that just feels trapped because she can't express herself ? I hope not ...

Sincerely, on this forum, I see a correlation between people's reputation and the amount of thought and openmindedness they put into their comments. I'm glad I found such a community. We're gonna do great things together ! Leo can even become a silent himalayan yogi for the rest of his life, but his ideas will remain with us. And yeah, there are still some people who post for reputation... But it only means we still have some teaching to do !
