  1. @EvilAngel Oh okay, I can try to do that, would you recommend hypnosis or anything like that to try to get in touch with them? I can find someone who can do hypnosis. Do you mean deal with the emotions when you say release this? @Salvijus Yes, it may, I'm not 100% sure though. Possibly me trying to release tension is causing it to tighten, but I do tense up as I said when I am stressed during the day. @Hellspeed What do you mean by... As well as I'm not quite sure what your referring to. Thanks.
  2. Hello, So, I have this one difficulty that I have been trying to deal with. My face always has tension, and when I meditate it gets worse, because I try to relax it, but I end up doing the opposite, which then causes it to start aching a bit. This brings me into a default mode of going through my day with tensed up face muscles, which can get tenser if I am stressed as well. I don't know if meditation can help me relax my face or the rest of my body either, but mostly my face at this time (because it has not been recently). Meditation has helped in calming my mind a bit by focusing on something (such as the breath), but that's about it. While I go through my day, I am barely aware that my face is tensed, which is not very helpful either. So, I am a little stuck and don't quite know what to do, possibly do yoga, or take a hot bath... Any recommendations? Thanks.
  3. Thank you guys for the replies. @molosku Do you mean mindfully being aware of the tension in my face, and consciously trying to release it? @Salvijus Are you asking if I have a similar experience while lying on my back trying to fall asleep? If yes, not really, because I tend to fall asleep very shortly after I go to bed. Which does not add more tension to my face. I have researched kriya yoga a bit, but I don't know where to start with it, where do I find tutorials or videos or anything on how to do it? Would kundalini yoga be considered kriya yoga as well? @EvilAngel I have seen Leo's body awareness video. I'm just stuck at the part where he says "send a signal release the tension", or something along those lines, because I can't relax on command, especially my face.
  4. Thanks@K VIL and@eleveneleven, you have a point, some people may enjoy such a video, though probably not very much. I think more people in the intermediate stages, because they're not so naive to take judge and project on Leo and themselves based the what he says, but also will be able to possibly learn things from him. Boredom is also a factor lol.
  5. Wow thanks guys, so I guess he’s quite a respectable teacher. @Jack River Your not sure how correct his interpretations of Buddhism are? They seem very accurate to what I know about it, though I’m not the most knowledgeable in that field so I can’t tell what is truly correct or not. Thanks @FoxFoxFox, I see your point about not trying to philosophies to much about enlightenment. I’m curious how long he spent studying different religions as well as enlightenment.
  6. Ah, I see, I guess not the best video topic then, thanks though.
  7. I may be able to go to Toronto, but it is still a little far away. Definitively not Vancouver though.
  8. Good point @Rilles , but I think more people are interested in facts about Leo.
  9. Thank you @Leo Gura and @tecladocasio I see what you mean, it's less about trying to find and answer, but just observing your experience and investigating, not rationalizing. This seems very unfamiliarly, weird and dificult to me, but i'll try. I cannot take psychedelics because they are illegal here, I don't know where to find them, I am not very comfortable with the idea of taking any because of the stigma they have of being drugs, as well as I don't know how to use them, but I'll think about it.
  10. Hello, I have a few questions about contemplation. First, How do I know when I have found an answer? I know it is not about finding an answer but about clarifying the question, but the question must stop somewhere, so when to decide that you found an answer or that you can stop? You can't just keep asking questions because then you'll never get anywhere. And coming of from that, how do you know if your asking the right questions? Second, for people someone who has never contemplated before, should you do it for 30 or 60 minutes when just starting out? Third, can you contemplate on what is contemplation? And lastly, what does Leo mean by going meta, observing the contemplation while observing that? How do you do that? Does not make sense, it's like doing two things at once. Thank you.
  11. Happy Birthday Leo! I hope you had a great day!
  12. Hey guys, I found this YouTube channel that talks about health, by having PhD's and experts give health advice, including advice on diet. Have any of you heard of this channel, or watched it? Would you recommend it? Thank you. Here is the link to the youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp_ShZAUGtFLpYkgcTrayRQ/featured And the website: http://www.therealtruthabouthealth.com/
  13. What do you mean by "designed"? Our body has adapted to be able to digest a variety of different foods, we are actually one of the most adaptable species on this planet, it's quite fascinating
  14. You can try looking into the Mediterranean diet, some of the longest living humans consume a mediterranean diet, It's very healthy, one of the most recommended in the western world.
  15. I've never heard of casomorphines and gluteomorphines, where did you get that info?
  16. Hello, I am slightly confused about the difficulties regarding cleaning up a diet. What makes cleaning up your diet take so long? Isn't it just as simple as stopping eating the foods not in a diet or stopping eating unhealthy foods? For example, Leo said, he's been cleaning up his diet for the past 10 years, but what was taking him so long to do so? If you wanna start a keto diet, eat more fats and less carbs, if you wanna start a vegan diet, stop eating animal products, if you wanna just eat less processed foods, start eating more whole foods, what makes this take so long? Just wondering, thank you:D
  17. Wow thank you, I am unaware of those things I have with my diet like if I have emotional attachments to any food or how I feel when I eat different foods (brain fog) (I can sorta tell which foods cause bloating). Ever since I was young I’ve been eating what my parents (or whoever feeds me) have given me, which is relatively healthy, we had deserts and treats everyone (bdays and special events) once in a while, but for me, food was/is just food (there is no good or bad food just better or worst this is mostly what my dietician says too) and so the type of food does not really effect me, I think of it as energy and that’s about it. But now that I hear people cleaning up their diet, I am assuming diet has a lot do to with you as a person, how you feel and such. And, also how can people get food addictions? Leo said in his video on addictions that we are addicted to the food we eat, which I do not agree with because I can stop eating any food though I would not want to because I enjoy them and they are quite healthy.
  18. @Leo Gura What do you do for relaxation and to entertain yourself? Do you play video games every once in a while, or watch documentaries or movies? Thank you.
  19. @Leo Gura Are you taking about people that are gluten intolerant? Because this is true for them.
  20. Hello, I am confused about the reason for cutting out grains, breads, meats, dairy's and etc. I am underweight and my dietitian and parents are forcing me to gain weight (due to an eating disorder I have) and to eat all this variety of foods, however if I should cut these foods out (to clean up my diet) and become more plant based (which they say is not healthy and is what the eating disorder wants to do), what should I do, and why do it? Science says to have a variety of foods (as in meats, dairy, sugar every once in awhile if you want and etc) but then, how do I cut these out if my dietitian and parents say that it's all a fad that it's my eating disorder talking and that these are all very healthy foods (they provide a lot of nutrients according to them) as long as you eat the least amount of processed food as possible and keep it in moderation (essentially what I've been doing my whole life), so, why not eat dairy, wheat, meats and such (to become mostly vegetarian or plant based? My apologies if I seem ignorant, I am just slightly confused about all the different thoughts and ideas I have of what do to. Thank you.
  21. @Leo Gura So then, I guess I just read a bunch of books on how business works? Or I could just go take a few courses on it.
  22. Hello, just have a few questions about the life purpose course. In the sample videos he talks a lot about starting a business and solving problems with starting a business if you are stuck, like buying books or a massive white board to think of ideas. However, what if you may not want to start a business, or if those solutions are not the best solutions/there are other solutions. Does the life purpose course go into depth with anything apart from starting a business by buying a bunch of books about it or whatever subject you are interested in, or does it help with discovering another life purpose that may be completely different from that or finding solution for starting a career not in business/marketing? Does the life purpose course talk about learning stuff not from books or seminars, such as school? Because you can learn tons of stuff about how to start a business there. Thank you.
  23. Hello, how many books have you read in total and how many are books on epistemology? On the book list there are 207, I'm guessing you've read close to 300 in total?
  24. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has read the book 'Psychology: Themes and Variations 4th Canadian Edition' by Dr. Wayne Weiten and‎ Dr. Doug McCann. It is quite a large book, at least a few hundred pages. It is the recommended text book to read in my psychology class in university, and I was wondering if anyone has anything to say about it. Is it a good read? Yeah? No? Would anyone recommend any other books on psychology? Thank you. (Aspect ratio is not actual)
